Derek Kuhl's Online Review Report Card

I just had my first eye surgery with Dr. Kuhl. He is the consummate professional. Surgery went off without a hitch and the outcome was 100% better than I expected. Highly recommend!

I was working out of my home base. Had a detached retina and his staff and him were excellent and efficient. Knew exactly what needed to be done. Surgery went smoothly and quickly.

My wife had an eye emergency and this Dr answered the phone in the middle of night and took care of her. I couldn't be more grateful for his character and care as a doctor.

I was really apprehensive about going to a new clinic and seeing a new doctor. Should not have been! From the time I entered the clinic until I left, every person involved in my diagnosis, history,and/or comfort was cordial, polite and extremely proficient in their particular field of expertise. I expected lengthy waiting periods between various procedures,but instead everything moved along within a reasonable period of time. They made me feel relaxed. So much so that I'm looking forward to my next appointment in a couple of days.

Am seeing Dr. Kuhl for macular degeneration. All of his staff is fantastic! Very patient through all tests needed. Dr. is very personable and informative. Had to start injections in eye. Dr. Kuhl made experience less frightening and is very good at his job.

Waiting time has always been over an hour. when I commented on long waiting time he immediately said "if you don't want to be here you can leave". I felt like this was a very unprofessional response. The rest of the visit he didn't provide much information and was ,in my opinion, short and somewhat sarcastic in his responses. This experience gives me the impression that Dr. Kuhl is immature and arrogant.

I WAS VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE OFFICE MANAGER ON HOW SHE WAS RUDE; INSENSITIVE; UNPROFESSIONAL; AND (LACKED HUMAN RESOURCES TRAINING) ON DEALING WITH PEOPLE WHO HAVE FACED FINANCIAL AND MEDICAL EMERGENCIES. SHE CONSTANTLY INFERRED THAT MY WIFE NEEDED TO BORROW MONEY FROM A 2ND PARTY, WHICH WE NEVER DO. MY WIFE AND I HAVE GOOD CREDIT, AND PURCHASED A BRAND NEW HOME HERE IN BRYAN, BUT ENCOUNTERED 4 MAJOR MEDICAL FINANCIAL BURDENS THAT WE KINDLY ASKED FOR A (2-DAY PROMISE-TO-PAY) WHICH WAS DENIED ! WE ARE RETIRED AND ON SSD. ADDITIONALLY, SHE APPEARED TO BE VERY IMMATURE , IN THAT, SHE VERY [ " COWARDLY WALKED IN AND OUT "] OF THE OFFICE ON MY WIFE, TRYING TO GET THE DOCTOR TO INTERVENE ON A FINANCIAL ISSUE THAT SHE SHOULD HAVE TAKEN CARE OF HERSELF. BUT DUE TO HER INCOMPETENCE, SHE (RUDELY) AND DELIBERATELY WAS IGNORING MY WIFE THROUGHOUT THEIR CONVERSATION. FURTHERMORE, I AM IN SEARCH OF ANOTHER RETINA SPECIALIST, AS A RESULT, OF HOW MY WIFE WAS TREATED BY THAT OFFICE MANAGER, NAMED, ROCHELLE, AND SUBSEQUENT, TO THAT VERY STRESSFUL ENCOUNTER SHE PUT MY WIFE THROUGH, WE RETURNED WITH THE ENTIRE [ "CASH AMOUNT" ] FOR THE EMERGENCY SURGERY, AS IF THE FACILITY WAS ABOUT TO GO ["BANKRUPT"] IF WE DID NOT PAY THEM IMMEDIATELY ! LASTLY, I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE TO THIS PLACE DUE TO THE OFFICE MANAGER, ROCHELLE, WHO WILL CAUSE DR. KUHL TO LOSE NUMEROUS PATIENTS AS A RESULT OF HER VERY UNPROFESSIONAL MANNERISM AND LACK OF MANAGERIAL COMPETENCE ! Sincerely, A VERY UNHAPPY NEW PATIENT

Office staff unhelpful in time of need and made judgements on pt who was stressed and concerned about eye health. Later scheduled pt to be seen then staff lied about scheduling the pt. Called Baylor Scott and White in Temple and had a wonderful experience. Worth the drive to not have to see this office again

Dr. Kuhl is a wonderful Retina Specialist who performed Retina Reattachment Emergency Surgery on Aubrey Skeen, and we are so very grateful. He and his staff at the Retina Center and St. Joseph Hospital are the best one could ever ask for, keeping us informed throughout the procedural process. Thank you so much!

Dr Kuhl knows what he is talking about and cares about his patients. Highly recommend.
