Dr. Gordon G Mitchell's Online Review Report Card

We were told Dr Mitchell is knowledgeable. We assume he is but he QUICKLY dodges any questions that you want to ask. He gives VERY LITTLE INFO at all when you just had a MAJOR life changing event. He leaves you with many questions and NO answers. We were thankful that the Hospitalist was just the opposite and took the time to answer our questions, if that was how it was meant to be Dr. Mitchell could have at least said "The Hospitalist will be in and answer all your questions." No I would not recommend him to anyone long term.

I wouldn’t be here except Dr Mitchell has helped me keep going. I gone to him over 14 years.

After an appointment at 12:30 and not getting in to see the doctor until 1:30 I left and the front desk person would not let me go inside to see my husband. This is the same person who gave me someone else medical receipt another time. Putting elderly people at peak times in traffic doesn't help either. "Health care Professionals" where did that go? It's not at the front desk.

The front desk person would not let me in to be with my husband after him being in the office over an hour.

My husband is Dr. Mitchell's patient. He had open heart surgery at St. Joseph's in Bryan. We are so blessed that Dr. Mitchell is our doctor. We got the best!! Great care and amazing doctor. A good Aggie also!!

This time I seen him he was nicer and explained everything better to me I seen him seven years ago. But it took over an hour for him to come into the room but he did apologize for being so late, see how long it takes them to make me appt. for this stress test hopefully soon get it over. The nurse was even nicer then she was seven years ago! ??

I was admitted to the ER 3 times for my heart before finally being referred to a Cardiologist (Dr. Mitchell). I went in and he wasn't there, only his nurse so I never met the doctor. I met with another physician asking me what my Dr had told me and I explained that I've never actually met my doctor. I was scheduled for various appointments and did finally meet Dr. Mitchell briefly after waiting 2 hours and another 30 min in the room in the back. He scheduled more tests including a P.E.T. scan. I emailed his nurse (as the voicemail states it is for a more prompt response). No response. I emailed again. No response. I left 2 voicemails. No response. I just received a one sentence letter telling me that I need heart surgery (not from this office) yet shouldn't I know why surgery is needed? I just explained all of the to the receptionist requesting to speak to someone and of course she immediately sends me to a voicemail. I vented and did get a call back. The nurse explained that is what the receptionist is suppose to do....HOWEVER she sent me to the nurse for the WRONG doctor so the receptionist did not even listen to my concerns enough to get me to the right person. When I questioned the nurse why I am told to send emails and asked why nobody has emailed me back she essentially said they are going through nurse changes and my emails "may have gotten lost". This is my healthcare, my heart and I find out in a letter that I have to have surgery. So unprofessional with my experiences and I am switching providers!

He is sometimes hard to schedule appts. With and or running late but this man is amazing he is very thourgh with his work , makes sure you understand everything that is happening or going to happen. Couldn't ask for a better heart doctor

I'm very disappointed with the care I received at this office. First, I had to wait almost 1.5 hour at the initial appointment before Dr. Mitchell saw me, not even mentioning that the nurse didn't know how to spell Propranolol. I was fitted with the Holter monitor for a week. I left multiple messages with Dr. Mitchell nurse inquiring about the Holter monitor result. He never got back to me. I called the office, they promised somebody would get back, but nobody called me back. Wouldn't recommend!

He placed me on blood thinner - need a tooth extraction, I contacted his office for instruction for the dentist no reply from Mitchell for three days, went his office he would see me ask for his nurse she told deck clerk that Mitchell knows about my needs and had not provided her with an answer. I finally had the dentist contact Mitchell for instruction on blood thinner and had tooth extracted. Mitchell also prescribed the most expensive medication and would put in the donut within six months
