Dr. Gerken is a fabulous doctor who has totally replaced my left knee. After the initial six weeks, I did not require any physical therapy. I was not in good shape prior either, as one might imagine. I was an alcoholic addicted on and off to pain pills for close to 20 years. Under his care, God has his hand on Dr. Gerken, I was delivered from both addictions without any treatment/therapy! His genuine concern for his patients and his humble care to know the whole person is something I have never experienced in 65 years. I have more work to be done and trust him completely. I may not always have the level of undeniable success with the first surgery, but know that I am in the most capable, caring hands. The photos are me today, Dr. Gerken and i the first day we met in June 2019 and then in February 2021.

Dr. Gerken immediately diagnosed my problem with my left hip, he was energetic and had a wonderful bedside manner. He might be young, but he is very enthusiastic and friendly. I wanted him to replace my hip, but my Mother insists that I go to a doctor we've never met on the advice of my uncle (a retired spinal surgeon in San Antonio who's steered me wrong on every surgery). Instead I'm to see a surgeon with less than stellar reviews (again, on his advice), because my mother likes to name-drop her semi-famous brother, and I always end up with an incompetent surgeon. Hope I get to see Dr. Gerken again.

When we were out of town in Chicago my daughter’s leg was very swollen, she had no feeling in her leg and couldn’t walk. Not only did Dr. Gerken get right back to me, he also recommended a very good hospital that specialized in pediatrician othopedics in the area. He even followed up with the ER staff several times and advised us as to what was going on and what to expect next. His responsiveness and professionalism at top notch.
