Dr Friedman and Malory are the best team!!

I went in to Ponder because I was having numbness on my left side a debilitating spasms in my back. My cervical MRI came back with notes that there were lesions on my T2 and signs of MS. His front desk called with results (I read notes on portal) and said everything looked good and he referred me out to a Spine Dr. I didn’t feel good about that and called back and brought up the note. Was brushed off again and since I was referred out they didn’t want to speak to me. I even called a 3rd time. This was in March. I got diagnosed with MS in the Emergency room and admitted to hospital 3 months later when I was paralyzed from the waist down and got the MRI’s that were noted to him that I needed. It could have all been prevented if he listened and didn’t disregard me. I would not trust him to treat you- at all. In fact I would not trust this establishment whatsoever. Proceed with caution.

Worst place to go if you are trying to get healing. They put me in a room and prepped me for a surgery for the wrong person initially, they billed me after I quit seeing them and the VA was paying 100 percent, they botched the disc surgery and here I am seven months later dragging around a numb dead foot that I have to put a heating pad on every night because blood won't circulate. THEY NEVER SHOULD HAVE SENT ME A BILL!! The new MRI shows severe degeneration from the botched surgery.

I can’t praise them and how our experience was from the start to the end. My husband had surgery on his back a year ago and I’m finally just giving this review. It started with an (emergent) consult on the phone with PA Mallory as my husband’s pain was so severe and we didn’t know what to do. She immediately helped ease the pain with steroids and gabapentin while waiting for the MRI ordered. Surgery was highly recommended due to a lumbar disc herniation and years of wear and tear. A month later it was surgery day. Check in at the hospital was a breeze. Dr Friedman and Mallory came to see him before surgery. He went back and I waited maybe an hour. Dr Friedman came to the waiting room and gave me a quick update. I waited for him in recovery and the OR/PACU nurses were AWESOME at keeping me updated on his recovery process. The next month or two was ROUGH post-op….as expected. Gradually it got better. There were times that we felt a little helpless because we didn’t know if this was “as good as it gets”. But eventually month by month it got a little better and here we are a year later and he is totally healed and able to golf and work on tasks around the house with no problem. We also live in Houston and the drive up to Bryan was WORTH it for us. It was relaxing to get out of the city and the atmosphere was so calming up in Bryan considering we were so stressed. I hope this review helps others that may be going through something similar. Thank you Dr Friedman, Mallory PA, and everyone else including office staff, pre-op, OR and PACU nurses that helped us!! After I broke my neck he fixed me. Had bulging discs that he removed and replaced with a fusion. Neck is all good now. No more pinched nerves. Doesn't operate unless he has to.

The nurses in this office are the rudest and most disrespectful people I've ever had to deal with. I will not be contacting this office again. I don't need to be treated like this. On hold for 10 min and told to call back cause their is one person ahead of me. Yes call back and go on hold some more. I'm not doing it. The attitude is what has me upset about this. Just the rudeness that sounds like I am just a number and don't mean anything.

Please choose a different practice. I went here based on the fact that two of my immediate family members had surgery with one of doctors here. My experience was overwhelmingly unprofessional and extremely rude. 1) A Receptionist is first impression and the receptionists at this institute do not have any charm, compassion, or desire to help the patient. It is OBVIOUS they hate their job! And they HATE patients!!! 2) After following “all” the rules, the practice did not adhere to them themselves and thus they were panicked that I had not done all to attend a phone visit. Scary that you have done all and they don’t even know. 3) Zero, and I mean zero follow up. The follow-up steps that were presented to me after my virtual visit have not occurred and it has been over a week. 4) The practice takes a LONG lunch break daily from 11:30 to 1:30. Wow! And during that time the answering service taking the calls is so RUDE you basically never want to call back. 5) Gives Texas A&M a bad-name. Since this facility is located in a Texas A&M area teaching location; as an Aggie, I was expecting a place of respect and professionalism. They really give a false impression. 6) You CAN NOT have the digital imaging of an MRI directly sent here from an imaging facility unless it is Scott and White or St. Joseph’s imaging facility—all other electronic digital image sharing is prohibited no matter from where it was done. What is that about? 7) MRI disc has to be taken in-person before virtual appointment yet it isn’t even reviewed before appointment and to make arrangements for the return of the disc is an act of congress. Still trying to get this arranged. 8) The physicians and PAs are CLUELESS to the rude and unprofessional treatment the patients receive to even get to the point of seeing them. Why don’t they know? Don’t they care? The first impression should mean something to everyone at the institute. When the concerns of the rudeness was shared, as the patient, I was told it was my job to inform the Office Manager. My goodness—I would think a physician or PA might want to let the OM know but not here. The physicians and PAs are too busy to take the time to be the patient voice—well without patients there won’t be a practice. I know the doctors here are very talented but you have to go through much customer/patient abuse just to get to see or visit with them. I can share there are amazingly talented doctors just a short drive away, too that have a practice/s that values the patient with compassion, respect, and care from the initial phone call to make an appointment to the actualization of the doctor visit, and beyond.
