List of River Oaks Assisted Living & Memory Care's Reviews
APS was contacted. Understaffed. Ratio of caregiver to residents to is too low, staffed too thin. Thus, elderly abuse seen and heard. Would never place my loved one in this facility. Generational gap (different era for elderly), mostly white residents is misunderstood by mostly african american staff who hang around the medication cart and gossip.
Horrible, unprofessional, and dishonestI’m taking my mother out of here after two weeks and filing a Health and Human Services complaint because the facility has allowed her to sleep in urine soaked sheets. My mother reports getting her 8am dose of meds at 10:30 most mornings. “Light housekeeping” does not include throwing away the styrofoam containers from the meal before. The entire room smells of urine. The director of nursing has been directly dishonest with me on at least one occasion. The Executive Director takes every opportunity to be rude to me.You get one hour a day to visit, but their process takes 10 minutes so you end up with 50 minutes to visit your loved one.But my favorite - the “rules” and agreements change with the winds. I was told yes to a request, set it all up, and when I got there they had changed their minds. They kicked my mom’s cat out with less than 24 hours notice.Their favorite excuse - the have to follow “the rules” for everyone - if only I knew which rules to follow... I’d settle for professionalism, respect and honesty.
This is NOT a good place to have your loved one. Extremely poor resident care.Very expensive for what care you get. Our family was very hopeful - didn't live up to salesmans story of excellent care to be provided.Incompetent staff often overlooks routine care - meal service - issues with medication - soiled linens – getting help when need - place seems understaffed.
Neat and professional
I was just visiting someone. She said she likes it.
I went to visit my grandma today with my mother and grandson, i was pleased, looked like a nice place and staff seemed friendly. Until my grandma wanted lunch in the cafeteria...mind you, this is the first time we have ever been here. A larger african american lady took our order for drinks ( couldn't see her name badge, unfortunately)I asked for a Sprite and she rudely informed us they only had juice, tea, or water. Understandable because diabetics. Then we saw the menu which today's choice was pork or beef. There was cheeseburgers, salad, sandwiches, chicken tenders, etc on the other side. So, we asked about it and she said again, super rude, you could get these but only after everyone got their daily specials, which was fine but you could tell she wasn't to pleased about it. She said, " you do realize you will be last right?" I said yes, but you know what forget it since it is so much trouble for you. We will get the pork and beef 😰. So my mom asked what kind of pork and beef is it? This women actually yelled at her, " It is pork and beef! "My mom said what kind though? She yelled again, pork and beef. So, i said you know what, we aren't eating here, I'm not having my family treated this way. Long story short, i went and got takeout from La Madeline's whuch was way better and way better customer service! I have worked in customer service for years and that was just unacceptable. If that is how they treat people with families there I can only imagine when the elderly are alone.other than that, the staff was friendly and courtrous. But that one women almost ruined ny enture experience.
Lived here for 4 months!4 freaking months.I've noticed the office have their favs and it's usually the ones who WILL NOT "ruffle feathers".Maintenance staff is absolutely horrible and the office staff is clueless. They were nice until I began having issues in my apartment and questioned their maintenance staff's abilities. My dad made all the repairs to my kitchen and bathroom and I haven't had a problem since. This is a hell hole. Looks good on the outside but these units are ghetto as fuck. Oh. But the office is beautiful. Smh
The apartment community is nice and I loved my apartment layout. However, be fully informed and aware of the AC issues before you sign a lease for a 2nd floor apartment. The AC units are undersized and cannot keep up with the Texas heat. The maintenance team will come out with their tools to measure the temperature of the air blowing from the vent and tell you everything is fine. However, they fail to take into account that a small undersized cool breeze coming from the vent cannot, and will not, properly cool an apartment. Management is fully aware of the issue but will make no effort to correct it unless you go higher up. I had to get in touch with a few people in their regional and corporate offices to file a complaint and get resolution. I even offered to bring in an HVAC team that I use for data center cooling to provide them with a second professional opinion. After a few weeks of discussions, my entire AC unit was replaced and issue resolved.Again, the apartment community is great and the neighbors are great, but if you don't do well with Texas heat, think twice before you get a 2nd floor apartment.
Very poor care for residents, unable to get necessary items such as oxygen for over 8 weeks for a resident. Nurse and manager say they will handle it and nothing is done.Mistakes with handing medications.Very understaffed, some of the staff have to work 12-18 hours a day.Not a place to have your family at.Working to get a move for my mom as I am afraid of retaliation against her, for a bad review.
Attention new and old residents! This property has foundation problems!!!We live in a building with foundation damage on the second floor. Cracks are visible on our interior walls, and we can see a noticeable problem with the patio separating from the actual structure. My husband has been talking with the office staff about it, showing photos of the damage but nothing happened! They should transfer us to another apartment and there is still a possibility of increasing the rent! Obviously, the building will need to be repaired, but hopefully not after there is total collapse and somebody gets hurt. Please be aware!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
