List of Alexander Tessnow Md's Reviews
My wife had treated with Dr. Tessnow for three years now and could not be happier. He is so well versed in his specialty that he very aptly is able to explain to the patient where we stand, what to reasonably expect, and what to watch out for. Ultimately, we have a feeling of complete confidence in his ability to provide excellent treatment. I also read comments about the difficulties patients had with the staff, but I found that whenever I sent a message through their patient portal we always got a response, including appointments when needed, and even responses from the doctor himself. I found the system to be very efficient. I never called.
I am a thyroid cancer survivor and live in Frisco. After my thyroid was removed, I knew I needed to be followed by the best and an expert on thyroid cancer. I was referred to Dr. Tessnow and didn’t care I would have to drive to Dallas to see him. I felt at ease from the minute he walked into the room. He is brilliant, answered all my questions, understood my fears, and has always been up on the latest treatments. I started having see him a few times a year to check for any spreading, or “ugly cells” as he calls them. He does every ultrasound himself and tells me exactly what he’s seeing (or NOT seeing 👍🏻) as he goes. I have developed a great relationship with him, as his bedside manner is so great. It’s like going to see a buddy. They have moved their office because he hated his patients dealing with the valet parking at UTSW, so it’s no longer a chore to get there. I feel so very blessed to have him on my team.
I absolutely agree the scheduling is often a task. But he is a great doctor wouldn’t trust anyone else . Great guy too.. 😊
Dr Tessnow is absolutely awesome! He is worth putting up with the frustrating UT southwestern scheduling system and the wait list and sometimes rude staff. There is a reason it takes a while to get in to see him, he is just that good, in all respects: listening, bedside manner, up-to-date medical knowledge. My internist used to be at UTSW but has moved to Baylor hospital, and was familiar with Dr Tessnow. My first appointment with Dr Tessnow was scheduled several months out and I was impatient, wanting to get in sooner. My internist told me she could get me an appointment with endocrinologist at Baylor but in her opinion it was worth the wait for Tessnow.
The staff is extremely rude. They do not listen. I’ve been calling for weeks now. I spoke with Kendall, then with a young man can not recall his name. The last person I spoke with was Sasha I held to speak with someone. If she would have taken the time to assist instead of being argumentative I would’ve been able to get the proper assistance. I then ask her to give a minute and she disconnects. Where is the customer service? Where is the empathy?
If you're able to get through and see the doctor, then go get a lottery ticket!!! If you have not set up an apoointment and are considering Dr. Tessnow .... RUN and look for someone else, especially if you need a referral to see him!!! If your PCP has to send a referral, then STAY ON TOP OF IT!! Be a pest and relentless advocate for your health because people at the referrals department don't care and you will end up waiting months!! This rating is for UT Southwestern's referral department and the process of getting them to do their job, and then trying to set up a appointment for the actual doctor. I read the reviews on here and selected Dr. Tessnow for my PCP to refer me to. Once my PCP confirmed my documents had been sent over, I waited almost a week expecting a phone call to set up my appointment, but when I had not heard from anyone (I already received a letter confirmation from my insurance ok'ing my visit to Tessnow ... good for three months), I made the call to check. Person I spoke with said my name and information were not in the system, so there was no record of my needing to see Tessnow. I advised about forms being faxed, so I was given a different fax number to try. I relayed that information to my PCP and received confirmation that same day my information had been resent. That was on a Friday. I waited until Tuesday the following week to call back, and AGAIN -- same issue ... no record of me and my referral. I was transferred back to the referrals department and repeated my story again to the most uncharming of individuals, who was upset that the second fax number I had been provided was even provided to me. She sounded as if she was ready to go home for the day, to which was causing me to be more frustrated and irate with the lack of customer service attitude from this place! She said to wait a few days and call back again because the 2nd fax number takes some time to make its way over. Wow .... no sense of urgency or care! Waited until Friday and called back again .... still nothing! Transferred back to referrals and spoke with the same winning personality from the last time and I asked for an email address to send my information to. I was not willing to wait any more!!! Winning personality woman provided the information and I sent my email that same day, and I shockingly received confirmation on Sunday that my information was received (I think only because my frustration was clear in my correspondence). ABOUT TIME for a response (mind you, my PCP's date and time stamps SHOW sending things when they initially did, as well as the 2nd time!). Finally got a call from them on the following Wednesday to confirm they had my information, and to proceed with setting my appointment. Mind you, at this time, we are 2 days away from this process having taken ONE MONTH for them to just call me!! Went through my info with the individual and the first appointment available for me wouldn't be until nearly TWO MONTHS. And that appointment, according to the person setting my appointment, wouldn't even be with Dr. Tessnow!!! No, thank you! I will look for someone else OUTSIDE the hellish UT Southwestern umbrella to care for my tumor! This was the most INSANE process with the most I-Don't-Care-Attitude people I have ever dealt with, and for them to be in healthcare, where there should be a little more professionalism and compassion?! This is an example of the sad state of the world we are currently in. The pictures posted reflect the time I spent on the phone with these people and only 2 - 3 minutes was actually speaking to someone, while the rest of the time was ON HOLD. Too ridiculous.
I don’t know where to start about Dr. Tessnow. He is nothing less than Amazing. My neck was swollen due to thyroid. He gave me hope and advised me he would get me back to a normal life. He did just that. I’m doing very well and my Riedel thyroidus is gone. Any thyroid issues Dr. Tessnow is sure the one see. Thank you for everything Dr.
Staff was friendly, I was an hour late to my appointment I ended up at his old office location I was so lost. Good thing they still took their time to see me after being so late. Dr. Tessnow was super nice and listen to all my concerns regarding about thyroid issues. Now just to wait and see what my blood work test results are.
If you need an endocrinologist, this is the guy you need to see. He is everything you could want in a physician - smart, empathetic, great bedside manner, and an excellent communicator. I actually look forward to going back to see him.
Rockstar! That describes how great this doctor is. Not only is he knowledgeable and a genius he also keeps up to date with all the most recent research about his field and more. Makes patients very comfortable. Amazing bedside manner. Great support staff especially his nurse Maima. Thank you Dr. Tessnow and staff for all these years taking care of my son and I. It's unfortunate to have an illness but at least we have a great provider to depend on. Jay I. RP

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
