List of Anthony F Powell Md's Reviews
I was a late afternoon add-on. Dr Powell saw me within 30 minutes of my call, listened to my story, explained my EKG and physical exam findings clearly and was in no apparent rush to dispatch me! All in all, this was a very pleasant, efficient and informative visit! I highly recommend Dr Powell and the Menlo Medical Clinic.
Listens to the patient much more than other doctors.
So sad to see the previous review. I have been seeing Dr Powell for 23 years and not once have I ever been disappointed. He is low key, extremely knowledgeable and explains things in detail. He takes his time to get to know you. Any questions you send to him via email app are answered timely. Best doctor I have ever had in my 70 some years.
Zero bedside manner. My dad was dying and was days away from hospice and Dr. Powell saw him but did not help. We asked for a hospital bed which he told us he would not order. We called his answering service on a Saturday to get my dad on hospice and were told a nurse could not come out until Monday (incidentally, we then called another doctor who got hospice and a hospital bed out that same day). Did Dr. Powell ever call to check on my dad? Nope. My dad died 4 days later and we have not heard a word from Dr. Powell. Dr. Powell is routinely late for his appointments. Not an acceptable 10, 15 or even 30 minutes late. The norm for him is 45 minutes to over an hour. On the day we saw him (that I mentioned above) our wait time was 1 hour and 8 minutes. It got so late that his entire staff went home. Nothing like making a dying man wait.On a side note, Dr. Powell once forgot about my dad in his office. He closed and locked his office and went to a Stanford basketball game. My dad had to be let out by a security guard on duty at Menlo Medical Clinic. My dad got a half-hearted apology from Dr. Powell for that one. And then had to call the office, reschedule his appointment, and wait 45+ minutes again.I can understand a poor bedside manner if you are an excellent doctor. Dr. Powell has a poor bedside manner and is a mediocre doctor at best.We are fortunate to live in an area that has many doctors. For your sake or the sake of someone you love FIND A DIFFERENT DOCTOR!!
Zero bedside manner. My dad was dying and days away from hospice and Dr. Powell saw him but didn’t help. We asked for a hospital bed which he told us we would not get. He prescribed a sleep medicine that gave my dad horrible nightmares. We called his answering service on a Saturday to get my dad on hospice and were told a nurse could not come out until Monday. Did Dr. Powell ever call to check on my dad or hospice? Nope. On a side note he forgot about my dad once, locked the office and went home
He makes you feel comfortable, doesn't rush things, listens intently and having gone to Yale and Stanford is certainly a plus. TWO THUMBS UP!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
