List of Bonnie Bermas Md's Reviews
Diagnosed with lupus has been scary. Dr Bermas took her time with me and let me know it wasn’t a death sentence. She and her staff have been so helpful! I’m so glad she is my Rheumatologist!
She delayed my care, ignored concerns, and half of the time didn’t even refill prescriptions in time. I’ve never had a doctor consistently ignore concerns even when the pharmacist said she should be addressing it. Don’t try to get help from here. They are changing her ratings.
If you need care, please read her reviews before seeking help from her. I wish I had. I know her career is great, but her patient care is not. Not what you'd expect from UTSW. I got worse under her care. I think people need to be careful when going to Dr. Bermas. Her patient care is dismal and passive. She can't remember from one apt to the next. She doesn't read your labs (unless you remind her to) scary! She's probably there to make her resume look good on paper, but definitely NOT the patients outcomes. I'm guessing her patient outcomes might be lower than average in DFW.
The number one question anyone should ask a rheumotologist is how many of their patients go into remission. Getting ignored will not help anyone get the best care available.
Dr Bermas is extremely competent, cared for my issues expediously. She explained why I am having the issues and how she can help me resolve them. .. and she has done that. Thank You Dr. Bermas
Has all the qualifications on paper but bedside manner lacking. Came in. Very brief conversation. Said put on gown I'll be right back to examine you. Took longer to put on the gown than the exam took ? Put hands out. Put hands over head. OK I don't think you have Arthritis. The End ! It's reall SAD. Expected much BETTER from UT Southwestern.
I am glad to read the other comments on Dr Bermas' manner - I've never felt so shaken after a doctor visit. I went to her because she helped a friend with RA, but I never saw anything even remotely helpful - in fact she gave actively harmful, unscientific superstitious advice and was prickly and hostile. Based on discussion of my symptoms (she wouldn't even open my summary of test results), she made up her mind and told me that my problem is that I'm "Type A" (that is a direct quote, bizarrely).
I saw Dr Bermas years ago and am still frustrated with what was said to me at my appointment. I have been diagnosed with Lupus and Sjogren's Syndrome and went to her instead of my typical rheumatologist for a second option. I brought my husband so he could get a better understanding of my symptoms. She said my worsening fatigue was because I was a busy mom. I have been a busy mom and professional for ten years before coming to see her. It's was infuriating, minimizing and a waste of my time!
I went to see Dr. Bermas because I had a positive lupus test and I was told that she was an expert in this area. I had some reservations about seeing based upon some of the reviews that I read but was pleasantly surprised. Dr. Bermas asked me a lot of questions about my health and my symptoms. She then examined me and looked over my blood tests. After this, she explained to me that she did not think that I had lupus based on her evaluation of my symptoms and my exam and blood tests. She explained that lupus can be tricky to diagnose and that while 1 in 5 people have a positive lupus test, only 1-2 in 100 of people with a positive lupus test actually have lupus. She took the time to explain that people can have a positive lupus test with other illnesses such as thyroid disease or after having an infection and that it can be confusing to patients to get a positive test and be told that they may have lupus. At the end of the visit, she asked if I had any other questions and gave me her business card and told me to feel free to call her in the future if I get any new symptoms that I am worried about.
This was one of the worst doctors experiences I've ever had. I've been struggling with debilitating symptoms from an unknown condition for about a year now. Dr Bermas spent no more than 10 minutes with me. I told her how much I was affected by this fatigue and pain- she told me to do 45 minutes of aerobics a day (which is impossible in my condition) She then pushed a box of tissues towards me and told me that I should consider getting the mail an accomplishment. I'm 22 years old and still ill

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
