I was diagnosed with breast cancer in May of 2022 and had a bilateral mastectomy on August 23rd with expanders put in at the same time for the reconstruction. With that surgery, i had to go back into the operating room for a bleed in the right breast. I healed pretty well, and scheduled my reconstruction for Dec 2022. When you go thru all of this process your mind is scattered and your giving all the control of your healthcare to the professionals, when Dr Armijo was referred to me by my breast cancer doctor, i looked him up and saw all these reviews and felt comfortable. The Friday before my reconstruction i envisioned him on his rolling stool making marks and explaining what was going to happen.... I never saw him. What I got was the Nurse Practitioner who had a hand held machine looking for arteries in my lower abdomen, went and took pictures then i was done. After my surgery i lost blood flow to one breast and had to be sent back to surgery. Dr Armijo said he had to open and close that side incision 4 times because he would get the blood flow back then close it and loose the flow and have to start over again. So now i have had two surgeries that turned into 4. At the 3 week mark after surgery there was a hole on the lower side of my breast. I expressed concern and they put Hydrofera Blue on it and gave me instructions on how often to change the dressing etc. i started to get concerned at week 4 because the hole was getting larger and the breast hurt. When you lose feeling from the original surgery and that is the breast that had been open and closed 4 times i would have thought maybe they would be concerned because i was. You are only going to get in touch with the medical assistant at this point. I sent an email with a photo as instructed and waited two days to call because i had not heard back. The nurse practitioner answered and pulled up the email and said it was superficial and that it could take weeks to heal, just keep doing what you are doing with the Hydrofer Blue sponges. Two days later i developed a fever with no symptoms beside massive headache, chills and a fever. Called the office asked for Dr Armijo and was told he was in surgery so i got the medical assistant. Within 5 minutes she called me in two different antibiotics... he was in surgery, there was no time to even talk to him she just called it in. They did not ask me to come in, i was sent to a wound care doctor. At this point i was made to feel like i was overreacting. I went to the wound doctor and was diagnosed with a wound that had tunneled 4", and when they measured it, all the seroma fluid that was trapped in there poured out (that was the breast pain). They cultured it and i was diagnosed with Pseudomonia and Strep B. At my 6 week appointment i told Dr Armijo i was not happy. I thought that after the second surgery i could get tattoos and be done... i need a third surgery to even look somewhat "normal" and insurance will not pay for that. When i finished telling him about all my problems and not being able to get a hold of him he said "are you done"? Then said that he trusts his staff, and he just "cuts and sews" and i should have asked the questions before the surgery. I'm dealing with Cancer at 49, scared of surgery, and my future... i didnt know what to ask.

He made the process better because he truly showed genuine concern every step in my journey. When I had my first breast reconstruction I was quite disappointed through no fault of this doctor. A new implant that provided the projection that I was seeking came out and he was excited as myself. This doctor is a perfectionist/artist because nobody believes me when I tell them I endured a DMX. His staff is first rate class act. Through his kindness I have been able to bridge my fear of male doctors as I was terrified to see him due to previous male doctors making advances upon me to the point that they lost their medicathst thatl license. If you have the diagnosis of breast Cancer this is your doctor. If I need any future nips or tucks I know exactly where to go. I highly recommend this doctor without any reservation. I am blessed that our paths crossed and he was the most qualified, professional, class act and please do yourself a favor and take it from me when I say you are in superior hands when you employ this fine doctor for any procedure needed. Unfortunately it feels that the medical field is failing to be kind, compassionate and give ample time. This doctor will provide all of your needs.
