List of Cory Nguyen's Reviews
I had an overall very poor experience at Beyond Dental with Dr. Cory Nguyen. This is not related to the front office staff (they were very friendly and accommodating), it is solely due to my experience with Dr. Cory. I cannot express enough that if you have jaw/TMJ issues, DO NOT go see Dr. Cory. See an orthodontist first (Dr. Cory is not one), and then perhaps they will refer you to a maxillofacial surgeon or a more qualified specialist. I initially visited Dr. Cory due to significant TMJ pain, with pain also in my face, neck, shoulder, back, and chest (all on the right side). Without I believed to be even a very thorough examination, he prescribed a splint which I would wear 24/7 for 3 months. Long story short, I wore this splint for 8 months (not 3 months) with no significant changes in my bite nor pain, and I would have continued to wear this splint unless I had actively advocated for myself. Dr. Cory was extremely stubborn, would not listen to my concerns, and would not listen to, nor offer, and other explanations to my continuing problem. Ultimately, I ended up seeing an orthodontist, who diagnosed me with Condylar Hyperplasia, and eventually after seeing a maxillofacial surgeon, I was diagnosed with Arthritis which has degenerated my TMJ structures. I was told I will need braces and surgery to correct the situation. When I brought this new information to Dr. Cory, he clearly had no idea what Condylar Hyperplasia was, yet, he proceeded to insist that I did not have this condition. I ultimately left Dr. Cory-his services were a huge waste of time. Here are some other major problems with my experience with Dr. Cory. 1. In many of my appointments, he was too busy with other patients to give me his full attention. During one of my appointments I was in the office 4 hours for what was supposed to be a simple adjustment of my splint. Most appointments lasted around 2 hours, which is absolutely insane. 2. Dr. Cory's bedside manner, so to speak, was often completely inappropriate and rude. Once when I was asking him questions about my dental situation he said, “you don’t know what you are talking about, you are not the doctor”. Another time, he was talking very poorly to me about another patient of his, which I found very inappropriate. Did he talk about me with his other patients? Another time, when I told him I sought a second opinion and told Dr. Cory that doctors thoughts, he said “They don’t know what they are talking about, I am the specialist, not them”. (The second opinion was from a very qualified orthodontist). 3. Dr. Cory is very prideful. He was always unwilling to consider other options/diagnoses, and frankly, I believe he no idea at all what to do with my situation. Over and over he would talk about how his methods work for other patients, would always show me the same photos/videos, would always say the same things. But simply put, I am not like all other patients, and would like to be treated as an individual, not just another patient being pushed through the system. Also, he always bragged about money-how expensive his machines were, how my treatment is normally so expensive but he's giving me a deal etc. It was very irritating. Ultimately, Beyond Dental is a "Dental Factory". They have too many patients, try to do too many things, don't treat their patients with care as individuals, and absolutely DO NOT have extensive knowledge of the jaw or jaw related issues. I wasted 8 months of time with Dr. Cory that could have been used to treat my actual problem. I cannot emphasize this enough and beg of you-DO NOT GO HERE.
WOW!!! What an amazing feeling after just one day of my tongue tie surgery! I feel like some weights have been lifted off my neck and shoulders. I didn't realized how tensed my neck and shoulders were until after my tongue tie surgery. I am having more neck mobility now. Prior to my surgery, I had jaw clenching and tongue thrusting issues which had exhausted my cheeks and jaw muscles. I feel my whole face is more relaxed now after one day of my surgery. My tongue is now actually resting on the roof of my mouth. I am able to take deeper breaths now. Dr. Cory Nguyen and his entire staff (especially Crystal) at Beyond Dental & Implant Center in Dallas did an outstanding job to help me prepare for my tongue tie surgery with ease. Dr. Cory is very detailed and thoroughly explains the benefits for any of his dental work being done in the office. I do highly recommend Dr. Cory Nguyen for any of your future dental work! Thank you!!!
I've struggled with TMJ for more than half of my life. Dr. Cory is the first doctor to NOT want to experiment with surgery after meeting me and learning of my issues. The doctor instead elected to realign my jaw with therapy and perform a tongue tie release. While I still have a ways to go, most of my symptoms are no more.
Dr. Cory Nguyen and the whole staff @ Beyond Dental have always gone above and beyond for me, personally. I would recommend Dr. Cory to anyone for a number of reasons. His expertise on many different levels of dental procedures makes him @ the top to actually be able to help so many different problems. I have a different level of good health and confidence that they made happen for me (when I thought my end results would be dentures) through a more permanent solution. I couldn't be happier with my results. They treat you like family and are very caring.
I’m new to Texas and needed to find a dentist. I have been apprehensive because of Covid. I received an advertisement from Dr. Corey. It was very well done and answered many of my questions. I called and scheduled an appointment. The office team is nice, Knowledgeable, friendly and professional. The first appointment was thorough with x-rays and consultation. Everything was explained to me during the appointment and we created a treatment plan. My second appointment to do the work was flawless. I had a lot of work done in one visit. I was concerned that my mouth would be sore after all the work, but no soreness at all. Dr. Corey was thorough, reassuring and really cared how I felt during the entire appointment. I highly recommend Dr. Corey and his team. I found my dentist.
Over the last few months, I have had quite a few procedures with Dr. Nguyen and the work has been impeccable. The crowns are virtually undetectable. I was most impressed that when my implant post was placed the process was about 30 minutes and I had no pain and very minimal swelling. While not the most patient dentist I've had, he is the one that provided me the best quality results and used the least amount of time to do so. I also appreciate that he makes suggestions that are best for your health and your teeth not the most beneficial to his pocket. For example, I was interested in veneers which are more expensive than bonding. Dr. Nguyen he suggested that I go with bonding instead of veneers because it would be better for my teeth. Dr. Ngyuen will always be my go-to for any cosmetic procedures I need or desire in the future.
I first saw Dr. Cory Nguyen October 2019 when I was diagnosed with severe bone loss due to excessive grinding. The grinding led me to having several loose molars that had to be removed. The only alternative I was willing to accept was Implants. While most dentist would take this as an opportunity to give me the implants and send me on my way, Dr. Nguyen explained to me in detail the process and procedure I would have to endure that would take a year to complete. After bone grafting, a sinus lift, a sinus augmentation, temporary partial and Tens procedure, I finally got my implanted molars (top and bottom). While the procedure was completed several months ago, Dr. Nguyen continues to see me to ensure his work remains perfect. Why settle for anything less than that!
Thank you so much Dr. Cory! I have been feeling pain & pressure in my gum area causing sleepless nights. Today I am happy to report that Dr. Cory has relieved me of any further pain. He was thorough in his exam and going over in detail about my X-rays. I feel so much better now and am looking forward to a good nights rest. THANKS A MILLION!!!
I normally break out in hives when I have to visit the dentist office for treatments. But, not when I’m in Dr. Nguyen’s care. He is very fast and efficient. He approaches your mouth as if he is your best friend. I was experiencing cash flow problems, I shared that with Dr, Cory and he explained to me how important it was to take proper care of my teeth. He instructed me to get with his office personnel, Crystal and she could provide me with payment options. Upon hearing the gentle words coming out of his mouth, my pain ceased. Due to HIPPA laws, I will not discuss anything farther. The atmosphere is so calm and peaceful. My name is Rita and I approve of this message. I have not been coerced for this review.
I have suffered from TMJ all of my life. I had undergone physical therapy on three different occasions over the last 20 years. I was referred to Dr. Cory by my regular dentist for a TMJ consultation. He made me an appliance that not only decreased my pain and increased my quality of life, balance and strength, but then extended his treatment plan to include a comprehensive approach to look at “the whole me” by educating me on the benefits of a frenectomy, or “tongue tie surgery” to help unlock my neck and shoulders therefore increasing my range of motion in both areas. I scheduled the procedure and it was completed in the office. Immediately after the procedure, I was able to touch my chin to my chest, and chin to both left and right sides of the top of my shoulders and I was able to tilt my head all the way back and I have not been able to do these things for decades. As soon as I performed the ROM stretches not a minute after the procedure, I burst into tears from the relief I had in my neck and shoulders. Dr. Cory not only cares about fixing the immediate local problems he is consulted for regarding the effected areas, but seeks to look at a comprehensive modality approach to include also tackling the etiology of the issues. As a clinician, I appreciate the way he looks at the way all body systems work together in providing a patient solutions for optimizing their health and wellness. He is not the guy who has tunnel vision and only concerns himself with fixing only one of the problems you may have. Dr. Cory’s strength is education and his passion for his patient exceeds all others. He wants his patients to have great quality of life in all areas, and as a patient and a clinician I appreciate that greatly. If you have any doubts about which direction to seek in your optimal dental health journey, please make an appointment for at least a consultation and see how he can change your life. Forever grateful, Julie Hughes
