List of Damien B Mallat's Reviews
I agreed with all the 1 or less star reviews. My mom had a consultation telephone call that lasted 5 minutes. The day of the colonoscopy he was 3 hours late. She waited in the pre-op room for over 4 hours for an appointment that was scheduled at 1pm. He never apologized for being late or introduced himself to us. After the recovering, he didn't even bother to follow-up with an results or questions. Regret not reading the review before. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!
Office staff NEVER answers the phone. The doctor doesn't spend time with you.
I actually like Dr Mallat. I get that he is not warm and fuzzy and doesn't spend a lot of time with you, but he did actually listen and helped me after 2 absolutely torturous years under other GI doctors care. Problem now is (1) office didn't put the bill through my insurance and I cannot, after TWO YEARS get anyone to call me back or correct it, and (2) after calling every week for a year and now daily for two weeks, I cannot get anyone on the phone to call me back for a follow up. My stent is failing, my lipase is going up, it needs to be switched out. No matter the day or time of my call, not only does no one answer the call, the answering service is on so I can't even leave a message. It just says "call back during business hours". I am calling all day long, on days the office is open. Today is the last day. I got through to a voicemail. If I can't get an appointment today, I am going to have to start over with someone else bc I'm about to end up in the hospital - I know my signs and symptoms and I'm a few days out from a major pancreatic flare up. Sad, I wanted to see him but how if you can't even make an appointment!

If I could give him zero stars I would. I had to switch doctors because of an insurance change. He preformed a colonoscopy and it was the absolute worst medical experience I’ve had. I’ve had many colonoscopies because of a chronic illness. He left me in extreme pain because he didn’t remove the air after. The entire procedure took less than 11 minutes according to the report and he only took 3 pictures. This is unacceptable. DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR.
Would not recommend this doctor. He simply won't return my phone calls, and is extremely difficult to contact for appointment scheduling. Also is a rather rude person - he did not cure my medical condition, and seems totally indifferent to it. I will be contacting another doctor.
I would give him zero starts if it were possible. He is a horrible doctor who does not care about patients. I’ve had many colonoscopies done by several doctors but never one as bad as he preformed. He didn’t remove the air used during the procedure leaving me in extreme pain for hours after the procedure. I literally could not even walk I was hurting so bad. Not to mention that the entire procedure was timed at 11 minutes which is absurdly short. He is dangerous and anyone who sees him should report him to the Medical Board for malpractice. Do not see him.
I've put a lot of thought into this review.I've been a patient of Doctor Mallat's for a couple of years now. I really and truly believe he is great at what he does, however no amount of skill can cover up for unprofessionalism, disorganization, and a lack of understanding.I've almost switched Doctors time and time again, but each time I made a new excuse for him. Today's experience is what has finally caused me to switch. If you have chronic illnesses I would not recommend going to him. You'll need someone who has the time to listen, to talk to you, and to come up with a complete and thorough game plan. You'll also want someone with an organized office staff, which he doesn't have either. When it comes to your health, and when it comes to dealing with pain, you deserve better.I wish him all the best. I genuinely like him, but for my own healths 'sake Ive got to move on. For anyone looking for a new GI, I hope this review gives you some insight from a long time patient.
To start, I had an appointment in Fort Worth and they later wanted to change it to be in Dallas because he was only going to be in Dallas for the month, so it was inconvenient and it was done over the phone instead just now. Got the call and he didn’t even introduce himself at all, he went straight to ask the first question regarding my issue. Very unprofessional. Then he asked one question and I didn’t know what it was so I asked what’s that, he ignored and continued with the next question. Then he was like “okay you’ll get a call to schedule a colonoscopy” excuse me, what? The call only lasted 2 minutes and 4 seconds and he only asked about 5 questions and didn’t go into detail with any of them. Didn’t even tell me what’s wrong!!! I’m not scheduling anything!! You can tell this “doctor” doesn’t care about patients as he should.Update: 2 months later I get billed $200, I didn’t sign anything or give our insurance information or anything, just for that 2 minute phone call! Worse “doctor” ever.
I honestly don't know if the Dr here is any good at medicine because we can't get a conversation with him or his staff to get follow up on a test performed a week ago. His initial consultation with my son was less than five minutes and we had to fight to keep his attention for that long. Any time I call their office (during normal business hours), it goes to their answering service who refuse to take a message. He simply says, "you have to keep calling back until they answer."The best I can guess is that he's only interested in taking on as many patients as he can without providing quality medical care so that he can bill as much as possible with minimal effort. I hope he proves me wrong, but since there is literally no way to communicate with his office I don't know how to find out.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
