List of Jane M Kao's Reviews
Just because black men/boys typically have a thickening of the heart does not mean you don't treat them with the upmost of urgent care just as if you would a group where this is not commonplace. Especially, if a thread of death by sudden cardiac arrest is immanent. Do no harm. All cardiology matters should be treated as urgent if the symptom or underlying issue could result in death. With heart issues there is no room for error or well, I missed that or any other thing that keeps you from providing the best of medical treatment.
This is the worst place you can take your children to.The doctor is only interested in your money not the health of your kids. Don’t let the last name and smile fool you.
Scheduled an appt for my newborn and Dr. Kao refused to see him due to him not being added on my insurance yet, even though I have a month for that to be done. I called my insurance and added him and called the office back, they claimed that it is too short notice to do the paper work and authorization needed and Dr. Kao said that the appt can wait till next week so they can do the authorization to get paid. This is what’s wrong with our medical system, prioritizing payment versus patient health. Needless to say, I will be going to another provider.
My daughter was diagnosed with Tetrology of Fallot in Utero in late 2004. We visited Dr. Kao's office and her staff was outstanding and compassionate. What I remember most about Dr. Kao was if she was not at her office, she was at the hospital checking on her post op patients. I would joke with her that she had "no life", but looking back now, I think this was her life and she loved it.
Love the this place! been taking our boy here for years. Great dr. and staff is wonderful
Dr. Kao is a warm, compassionate and knowledgeable Pediatric Cardiologist. She was referred to us by my OBGYN when my son's heart abnormalities were initially detected. Dr. Kao spent lots of time speaking with us and explaining the challenges that we were about to face. She also provided much comfort to us by ensuring everyone was in place and ready to receive our son into the world. She continues to care for my son 6 years later and without fail has constantly guided us through this voyage. She is a tremendous Doctor and always brings us smiles when we visit her. Dr. Kao and her team are always available when we have questions or concerns. They take their time in our visits and never rush us. Dr. Kao and team get 5 stars from us!
Dr. Jane Kao diagnosed our son with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome a few months before he was born. She took the time to answer a multitude of questions for us while providing great comfort & concern on what proved to be one of the scariest days of our lives. Dr. Kao gave us detailed information about Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome while explaining the series of surgeries that our son would need in order to survive. She’s continued to be an advocate for Tate and has provided excellent & progressive healthcare for him for the past 17 years. Dr Kao is an excellent physician, but even more than that, she’s always treated us as family. She’s been a mentor to our oldest son, who has recently graduated from medical school.Tate is a happy and active 10th grader. He’s on the A/B Honor Roll, serves on the Student Council and just qualified for the UIL 4A State Golf Tournament. Tate might have been born with only 1/2 of a heart, but he lives and loves wholeheartedly. Dr. Kao has been a God send to us on Tate’s journey with HLHS. We love Dr Kao!!!
Dr. Kao has been an amazing doctor for us from day 1! I remember getting referred to her the day I found out about my sons heart and she was the first doctor I talked to that was able to put us at ease. She definitely cares about her patients and it shows!!
Dr. Kao has been my sons cardiologist for almost 18 years and we couldn't be more pleased. The office staff is always helpful and energetic, and they have always been flexible when working with other providers. Our visits are always thorough and we leave with a great understanding of what's next.
I was referred to Dr. Kao by my PCP when he heard a heart murmur in my son’s chest at his 4 month wellness check up. When i called to make the appointment, the staff were dry, non-helpful, and did not tell me beforehand what services and tests would be done for my son’s visit. I drove an hour thinking I was going to have a consultation. When i walked in, her reception staff was rude and unwelcoming. They told me he would be having an EKG and echocardiogram done. I was surprised as they did not tell me this beforehand. We were there for 2 hours, waiting 30 minutes past my appointment time, took 30 minutes to take an eKG and oxygen (which the nurse still didn’t know how to do and dr. Kao did it in 5 minutes), and an echo. While doing the echo, the sonogram tech told me we might want to sedate him next time if he was going to be this active, which drove me crazy that she would even suggest that to me. Dr. Kao herself is an amazing physician and seems passionate about her work. Her staff is just rude and unwelcoming. And when I called again after my appointment to adjust my bill, the first time a lady yelled at me “please hold” and kept me on hold for 10 minutes. I hung up and called a second time and another lady answered me and couldn’t give me any information on the payment plan I had agreed with them on weeks prior. All in all, dr. Kao is great but her staff is the worst reception staff I have encountered.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
