Marconi Abreu Md's Online Review Report Card

6 months ago I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at 39 years old. I had no idea where to start or what to do. I was fortunate enough to have been referred to Dr. Abreu and his team at UT Southwestern. Dr Abreu hears my concerns and offers so much education and practical solutions to my diabetic care. There is ease of access to Diabetic educators, nurse practitioners and medical assistants who offer nutrition guidance, support, labs and help with prescription refills as I navigate this big change. I highly recommend Dr. Abreu if you are newly diagnosed, or a veteran diabetic for his compassionate and gentle care.

Dr. Abreu is attentive to my diabetic care and has practical solutions to support my overall wellness. The staff at his office are responsive and support you each step of the way. I love the flexibility of telehealth appointments and feel incredibly lucky to be referred to him.

Was referred to Dr. Abreu to get specialized treatment for my type2 which has not been under the best control. He upgraded my meds and advised I get Dexcom 6, which immediately improved my ability to control my sugar levels better. He has given me hope to better control and manage this serious issue.

If you want your health to be a priority do not go here. I have been so disappointed in the care I have received from Dr. Abreu’s team. Dr. Abreu is great in person but his nurses rarely call back, you will find yourself calling them several times just to be told at 5 pm that you should book an appointment. The last straw for me was I had surgery 3 days ago. The surgical team was non stop worried about my sugar levels as the stress and pain I was in causes it to go higher. I literally was on a liquid diet of broth for 2 days and they were eventually able to get it down with insulin. They advised me to get with my doctor to get insulin ASAP as I am more prone to infections with me sugar levels in the 250s. I called dr. Abreu’s office several times today stressing the emergency due to my surgery and the conclusion was I was called back 5 minutes before they were closing and was told all they could to was a telemedicine call with the PA on Tuesday. It is Friday. At this point I burst out crying due to the poor customer service and what I feel was negligence. I was told to take deep breaths and calm myself down as that will increase my sugar levels. I believe the 3 incisions and 7 screws in my back was what was increasing my sugar levels not the emotional state I found myself in due to stress cause by dealing with an office the obviously does not care. I was then told to hydrate and eat low sugar foods. Both things I was already doing, considering I have been diabetic for 20 years. I am just so disappointed and feel if you want your health to be a priority do not go here.

DR Abreu has been very helpful to my dad. I am very grateful to have met him. He has spent time with us explaining about his illness and how to treat & monitor it.

I can't say enough great things about the care I have after choosing Dr. Abreu as my endocrinologist. I was hopeless in finding a doctor who had something more to offer than only a new medication on the market. For all these years, none of the highly regarded doctors were able to analyze in detail my exams as well as hear what I had to say. I have no words to describe the way he has impacted my health! What a life-changing experience! Thank you Dr. you are by far the best doctor I've met.

What a great endocrinologist! I saw Dr. Abreu for my diabetes. After his initial change in my medications, I controlled my diabetes right away. My hemoglobin A1c dropped to less than 7 for the first time in years. The medications he chose also made me loose weight too. He really takes the time to explain to you how each medication works and why we are doing things.
