List of Maurice G Syrquin Md's Reviews
My husband had 2 Retina reattachments by this doctor. He saw my husband the day after his first surgery and said it was reattached. We found out from our ophthalmologist it had detached again. A month later my husband had his second reattached Retina surgery. Again it detached!!! Our ophthalmologist again checked my husband’s eye and it was detached again! This doctor personally called doctor Syrquin and told him he was on vacation and we’d need to see after he returned.(2 weeks) At this point we found a great Retina doctor who reattached it again. Unfortunately their was too much damage done from the first two surgeries. My sweet husband only has 15% in that eye. This has been a life changing experience for him. He prays for a Miracle everyday God will heal his eye. I definitely would not recommend this doctor!!!!!
I would NEVER recommend this doctor or his office. He performed surgery on a retina detachment and even after my complaints and several follow ups, never determined that my retina was still detached. I had to have it corrected by another surgeon. Also, note that he has an ownership interest in the surgery center where he performs his procedures so he may be incentivized to have you coming back again and again. Oh, and he believes that since you only need one "good" eye to get a driver's license, its ok for him to ruin the other one; which is what he did to me.
Never in my life have I ever encountered such unethical, and unprofessionalism nurses who not only get bothered by asking questions over some procedures that were being done, but seemed to get impatient. There is particularly a nurse Amanda who seemed to be such a rude nurse whom not only showed her unemotional Professionalism side of herself being a medical nurse but seemed bothered or irritated towards both my parents who are not English speakers. As, I was trying to translate to both my parents in Spanish she would rudely interrupt and would not let me finish. As someone who does not understand the terminology over certain visual medical terms it was hard for me to translate as it is . Even Dr. Maurice G Syrquin seemed bothered or he was just irritated when both my parents had questions over some procedures that they wanted more information over. Because as a patient don't we have the right to know more and are we not allowed to ask questions over concerns that we as patients have? I believe that overall this is the worst experience that myself and both my parents have ever encountered.
Dr. Syrquin is a highly skilled physician and one of the leading retina surgeons in the Dallas area with over 30 years of experience. His staff and surgery team provided exceptional care and guided me through the entire process and follow up. My surgery was perfect! I praise God for assigning me to him.
Dr Syrquin is an extremely busy miracle worker. His interactions with patients are generally short, but always informative and caring. His staff is well trained and his office functions like a well oiled machine. He's helped restore my vision when I thought all was lost. It is difficult to get an appointment here and for very good reason, everyone knows that this doctor will take care of you.
Very efficient and effective retina surgeon. Wonderful eye doctor.
Most unprofessional office I have ever encountered. Dr. Syrquin cares more about quantity of patients rather than quality of care he gives. Staff functions like an unorganized assembly line that does not communicate with each other or know what patients are scheduled for and perform wrong test. Also the lack of PPE worn by doctor and staff is alarming. Dealing with the delicate eye they don’t bother to wear gloves and sharps container not properly used is alarming. Doctor gets upset if you ask too many questions or stays too long in his operatory chair because time is money. Office does not follow proper HIPAA protocols and will disclose information without your consent. If you complain about quality of care, they will ignore your calls or schedule you weeks out and then state that the appointment had to be changed due to an emergency. I’ve worked in the healthcare field for 12 yrs and have never seen unprofessionalism like Dr. Syrquin’s office. If you truly care about getting good or at least decent quality of information and care for your retina needs, then I suggest you look elsewhere.
Been seeing him every three months for close to a year now. True he moves fast so you better be ready to ask your questions. However, he is not fast to jump to into surgery and I am truly grateful to have found a doctor who knows when to take his time. Yes, I would gladly recommend him.
I am legally blind in my right eye thanks to his negligence, he had a doctor proceed with cataract surgery not long after I had a detached retina making my eye detach for a third time hence I lost my vision. Plus he would not give me ANY time off work when I had my major eye surgery. He denied my short term disability. I would NEVER go back to him. I would not send anyone I know to him.
The man works fast, thinks out loud so you hear exactly what is going into the notes, and has to have one of the fastest minds you have ever seen. Quality high-volume office operation, and they see a lot of people. He does not dawdle around, so if that is important to you he might not be your guy. But he will answer questions. My other doctors all think highly of him. I had good outcomes on both eyes and highly recommend him.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
