List of Neelan Doolabh Md's Reviews
Dr. Doolabh replaced my aorta valve using the minimally invasive surgical procedure. The experience was much easier on my body and spirit than I could have imagined. All the professionals at UT Southwestern involved in my care did a great job in making my recovery comfortable. I had the surgery on a Wednesday and went home the following Saturday. I recovered quickly with full movement in 3 weeks. I highly recommend Dr. Doolabh, his staff and UT Southwestern for this procedure. Gary Starnes
Recently underwent a mitral valve repair after years of heart flutters, shortness of breath, and overall fatigue. It’s only been a month since the procedure but I feel like a new person.
My experience with Dr. Doolabh, was amazing! A rockstar in his field. I was sent by my cardiologist from rural East Texas to be evaluated by him for minimally invasive MVR. (Mitral valve repair/replacement) I am a 44 year old mom, wife, and nurse. My first consultation was via video chat with himself and his nurses. He explained in detail, how the procedure would go, answered any questions I had. I scheduled surgery that day. His nurses were on call 24/7 and I could reach out if I needed anything or had questions. They are amazing as well. Surgery day came , and I got to meet him. This man has the sweetest, kindest, most calming spirit. He reassured myself and family that I would be taken care of. I could not have asked for anything more. Four days later I was home and resting. One month has passed now and I am back to my normal routine. I am all the more blessed and healthy because of him and his wonderful team! Thank you so much Dr. Doolabh. I am forever grateful that God placed you in my path.
The best surgeon and team. Dr. Doolabh is an expert at what he does. I was extremely nervous when I went to him but he explained everything very clearly, spent time with me and got me comfortable with the procedure (mitral valve replacement). Of course the surgery itself was done with utmost care and precision. His team is god sent as well. I was literally a text and call away from them and they guided me throughout. I will recommend him and his team to anyone and everyone who needs a heart surgery.
Dr. Doolabh is fantastic. My procedure was complicated, but I came through better than expected and continue to improve, all thanks to Dr. Doolabh. I rarely, if ever, meet doctors that care, but Dr. Doolabh is an exception. He is an example of what I hope all medical professionals could be. Thank you and your staff for being remarkable.
I have never had surgery before, this was my first. Dr Doolabh repaired two heart valves on 5-20-22 at UT Southwestern Med. Ctr. From very beginning, Dr. Doolabh explained everything he was going to do from beginning to end. He made me feel at ease because I was nervous. He is very caring. After my surgery, he came to check on me at 6:30 am every morning to make sure I was doing ok and hospital staff was taking care of my needs. Thank you Dr. Doolabh , Nelly and all of your staff for the awesome job that you guys do daily. GOD Bless ya'll...........
I had to have a sub-aortic membrane removed which I was going to have done through open heart surgery before I found out about Dr. Doolabh's mini thoracotomy. I was able to go have 2 days after my surgery and only have a small 2-inch scar just above my right breast instead of the huge scar I would've gotten if I had gone with open heaet surgery. If you need to have some type of heart surgery I would highly recommend looking into Dr. Doolabh mini thoracotomy to see if it is a viable option for you.
I am six weeks out from mitral valve repair surgery. Dr. Doolabh successfully performed the more difficult repair procedure rather than replace the valve. He and his team have been wonderful!
I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Neelan Doolabh and his staff members, Steva and Nelly, at UT Southwestern in Dallas. I had a rare heart condition called an atrial myxoma, where a tumor was taking up all the space of the left atrium of my heart. Due to the nature of the condition, it was critical that it be removed quickly to prevent the possibility of a stroke. I researched the doctors in my area and found that Dr. Doolabh specialized in a less invasive technique which indicated a much shorter hospitalization and recovery time as opposed to using the traditional method. I met with Dr. Doolabh and his staff via Telehealth on Monday, May 2, 2022. They were very patient with me while explaining the procedure and then they went above and beyond and fit me into the schedule for surgery for Thursday, May 5, 2022. That’s right…just 3 days later. The surgery was a flying success, and I was discharged from the hospital on Sunday, May 8, 2022, so only 3 nights in the hospital. With the traditional method, it is typically a week to 10 day hospital stay. While in the hospital, many staffers (including other surgeons) expressed their respect for Dr. Doolabh and some called him a genius, a description with which I whole-heartedly agree. I would also describe him as a miracle worker. I went home for recovery and was able to manage my pain with Tylenol instead of opioids, another huge plus. A week later I was walking 2 miles a day, and then worked up to walking 5 miles a day by week 3. Recovery with the traditional method can take 6 weeks or more. During my recovery time I often posed questions to Nelly and Steva and they were always quick to answer and provide valuable information and insight. During this whole experience I always felt that I was not “just a number”, but that Dr. Doolabh, Nelly and Steva, and all the nurses and technicians at UT Southwestern really cared about me as a human being and all were focused on making me well. I highly recommend Dr. Doolabh, his staff and the UT Southwestern Medical System.
Dr. DOOLABH performed a valve replacement on 02/29/2022. Not only is he a great surgeon but a great person as well. The same goes for his staff. Steva, Nelly, and all members. I was well taken care of in the hospital as well. I HIGHLY recommend him and appreciate everyone involved.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
