List of Suman Krishna Kotla's Reviews
This doctor may be a skilled surgeon, however you must realize that he may recommend surgery unnecessarily, which is absolutely terrifying to me. I almost had a surgery I didn’t need, but trusted my gut and sought a second and third opinion, who both said you 100% don’t need surgery and your issue can be addressed with conservative measures.
I am 22 months out after having an "anchorless" arthroscopic transosseous rotator cuff repair on my right (dominant) shoulder, performed by Dr. Sumant "Butch" Krishnan. It has been almost 2 years now, and I am compelled to share with others that I experienced NO pain, and required/took NO pain meds or opioids. It is also important to share that thanks to Dr. Krishnan and the surgical technique he pioneered, I have NO artificial metal/plastic/resorbable suture anchors in my bone which are well known to cause pain from the intraosseous pressure. When you get even a small splinter in your finger it hurts until you take it out and the pressure is relieved. Imagine the pain you would experience if you stepped on 1-4 nails or 5mm diameter screws that also penetrate the bone...your body doesn't want them in there and it will be very painful for most until they are removed. FYI - surgeon's don't remove suture anchors...you're stuck with them. My result is 100%. Dr. Krishnan + staff = 5 STARS!
Dr. Krishnan "fixed" me after another doctor put in the wrong size shoulder joint. I was in unbelievable pain and now that is much reduced. He was honest--he didn't oversell. He was kind. And, he appears to be about the best at what he does. As a woman in her 70s I didn't want to go on living with the amount of pain I was in. He truly saved my life, or at least the quality of my life. I can't thank him and his staff enough.
Butch is without peer When it comes to shoulder surgery. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing it. I had a level five ac joint repair and he had me back on my feet in three months. He’s a great guy and star in his field and has an office of talented, personable, and hard-working experts. Please take my word for it…butch is fabulous ! Bill Blase
Dr. Krishnan performed a rotator cuff surgery on my left shoulder in 2015 and the surgery was a great success and I have full range of motion and it is totally pain free. In 2018 my right shoulder had approximately 25% range of motion and I couldn't raise my hand above my shoulder or go behind my back and was in a lot of pain as the ball and socket of the joint had deteriorated to a level that I needed a Total Reverse Shoulder Replacement and I had Dr. krishnan do the surgery in 2019. It has been a year now and I can't believe how good it is to have two shoulders that are at 100%. I have not had my shoulders pain free in 38 years! I threw a football for the first time in many years to my grandson recently. I am able to play golf, ride my motorcycle, play pool, swim and so many other things that I haven't done in years that so many people take for granted. I have now had a total of four surgeries on the right shoulder and two on my left in the past 38 years and hopefully this is it.
How can I say enough about Dr. Krishnan? I am a lifelong swimmer and triathlete who wound up with a rotator cuff tear. I saw Dr. Krishnan who took a ton of time to diagnose me and give me both surgical and non-surgical options for treatment. I finally decided to have surgery and everything went great. Even before the surgery, he had me set up physical therapy so everything post op was in place. He called me when I got home after surgery to be sure I was doing well and the staff was amazing. Candy, Holli, Ashley, Craig, Daniel, Cinthya and I'm sure I'm leaving out someone. Everyone in the office is kind and smiling and you can tell they genuinely care about their patients. I'm 9 months post op, running over 200 miles per month, swimming regularly, and sleeping great (all things that were pretty rough in the months before the surgery). I can't say enough about the great care I got at this practice.
I went to Dr. Krishnan because of his subspecialization in shoulder surgery after having a rotator cuff tear. His evaluation and treatment were top notch, and I can't imagine a better outcome. This is a type of surgery that requires a long dedicated path of rehab after surgery. Dr. Krishnan quickly diagnosed the problem. If there were any complaint I have, it is that he is so busy and has a very large volume of patients, but it was worth getting fit in and working with his clinic schedule. The damage in my shoulder at surgery was greater than just a rotator cuff tear and he did additional capsular stripping and subacromial decompression. He works with a group of physical therapists in the area with whom he maintains regular contact, which facilitated my recovery. The shoulder he repaired is now my stronger shoulder. If I had a family member needing a similar surgery, I would not hesitate to send them to Dr. Krishnan.
10 years ago, Dr Krishnan repaired a torn rotator cuff and detached bicep tendon in my right shoulder. It could not have been more successful! I regained full range of motion and improved strength after PT. I also met more then 50 of his patients at the PT clinic. Every single one of his patients could not have recommended him any higher! His work is simply UNSURPASSED! ???? If you need help with your shoulder, he can help you!
Over a year after my rotator cuff surgery, my pain is worse. Completely uninterested in spending time with you, or listening. If he had listened or cared, I might not be facing more surgery. He answers the questions before you can even fully ask them, so he can get to the next room. It's like you are on an assembly line and if you fall outside the norm... oh well. RUN!
I have had 2 reverse shoulder replacements by Dr "Butch" and he is the best. I had both shoulders replaced 8 and 9 years ago and the surgeries didn't go as well as hoped and had severe pain problems since. Dr Krishnan knew exactly what to do and he revised my right shoulder first and it was better than I could have wished for. So I did the left. He and his staff are top notch. Very professional and thorough. Everyone in the office are very professional and friendly. Thank you Dr Butch and team.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
