William Garner Ransom Newton's Online Review Report Card

My experience with Dr Newton was simple horrible. I went it with a meniscus tear which he said he would repair using arthroscopic surgery and would scrape anything that needed to be “cleaned up”. Following the procedure I developed a Bakers cyst. He was unconcerned. I ended up in the ER for the problem. The problem continued for months. I saw him every month or so. He never wanted to investigate the cause. No MRI, no interest in finding the source of the problem. Gave me a cortisone shot which didn’t help. I ended up going to a different physician who ordered an MRI which clearly showed that my Femur had been damaged by the procedure he had used to “clean up”. The end result of Dr Newton’s doing was that I have had to have a full knee replacement because the damage to the Femur could not be repaired. He has never bothered to find out how my case turned out. I am not one for writing reviews or bad mouthing service providers but in this situation I feel compelled to warn anyone considering using this doctor to use extreme caution. My advice, stay away!

You are treated like a number. Not much concern for the patient’s welfare. Would not recommend using this surgeon.

Dr Garner Newton is a superb surgeon. In 2007 he performed surgery on my shoulder to repair a bankart lesion which has been perfect for the last 16 years. One week ago he performed surgery on my right knee which had a bad tear in the lateral meniscus and also a less severe tear of medial meniscus. I am doing fantastic and feel blessed to have such a phenomenal surgeon. Dr Newton is also one of the kindest human beings you will ever meet!!!

Fantastic surgeon. Wonderful bedside manor. Gone to him for all types of ailments and he always makes me feel better. Shots never hurt. Thanks Again Doc Newton

Knee replacement outcome very poor. Not helpful with rehabilitation or pain management post surgery. Office staff dismissive after several post operation visits.

Surgery was in need of redo. Wants to do surgery and nothing more to assist in recovery. Follow up poor. Help with pain and rehabilitation very poor. Office staff became short and rude after surgery.

I came to Dr. William R. Garner Newton after leaving another Surgeon who I had lost confidence in fixing me. I could not have picked a better surgeon than Dr. Newton. He and his staff did everything they said they would to get my rotator cuff fixed and PT to get me back to work. Your in good hands!

I cannot share enough about how amazing Dr. Garner Newton is as an orthopedic surgeon with a wonderful bedside manner and one that truly cares for his patients and their situations. He replaced both my husband’s knees this past year. The scars are thin and straight! With the first knee surgery our insurance waited until the day of surgery to send the case to peer to peer review which meant we would not be able to have the surgery as planned. Dr. Newton took time that morning to speak to the insurance case review manager BEFORE business hours to see if he could move the needle with them. It worked and Dr Newton rearranged his schedule for the VERY NEXT day to perform the surgery (which was not his regular day to be at the hospital) and the following day to assess his patient the day after surgery! We thought we would need to reschedule in the following months depending on his availability. Instead, Dr. Newton knew how much pain my husband was in and made it happen at his own (the Doctor’s) inconvenience!!! He then worked additional wonders for my husband’s other knee surgery to have it approved before year end so we did not have a new deductible in the new year! Dr. Newton listens to his patients and truly works a plan that meets their needs! I have and will continue to recommend Dr. Newton’s services to those in need. He is truly an amazing doctor with a huge heart!

I saw the doctor as a referral. In intermittent pain and wanted a resolution to my problem. After having an MRI at the doctor's request, I got no communication about follow-up. I had to call them to find out what was next. I liked the doctor when I met him but the aftercare was poor.

Dr Newton did my husband (Allan) rotation cuff surgery in May. I am the one who has dealt with his staff which have been incredible. Expecially Anna. She has been super helpful each and every time. Dealing with a helpful and kind staff really makes a difference. Dr Newtons bedside manner is one of the best we have encountered in a surgeon. We HIGHLY recommend!!
