Switching doctors was the most productive thing to occur to me while under Dr. He's care. He wasn't sure what was causing my issues. He suggested it was most likely a prescription I was taking for an unrelated thing (despite the eye issues occurring years before the prescription, and me coincidentally not having had major eye events since I began taking the prescription). He went on to explain why I shouldn't even be taking the prescription, anyway, and began to lecture me on who he thinks should be taking it and why. He gave me medical advice outside his specialty that was so outlandishly incorrect, a simple minute-long Google search could've shown otherwise. I stopped taking the prescription for about a year, anyway, and saw zero difference in my eyes. I later mentioned it to my prescribing doctor, and she appropriately recommended I not take dermatology advice from my ophthalmologist. That was only one of a few transgressions. Eventually, I realized I was wasting my time. Multiple visits and thousands of dollars later, and it seemed he still couldn't be bothered to put any effort in to my treatment. Every visit felt like the first. It's like my case and problems left his mind as soon as he walked out the room. I ended up finding another ophthalmologist. Since then, I've been very satisfied with my care. My new doctor keeps tabs on the health of my eyes, offers treatment options, and actually looks for solutions. Interestingly, he also hasn't pointed any fingers at my prescription. My new doctor appears to actually be interested in my case, which is something I never got from Dr. He.
Dr. He refused to write me a prescription after my surgery for pain. Repeated requests were denied. Another doctor had no problem writing the script. Would not recommend.
Dr lied about pain management because it was against his religion. Said there would be no pain. After this was proven wrong, his excuse was he could not prescribe narcotics for this type of surgery, it was against the rules. Once the other Dr. was made aware of the pain, they prescribed pain medication immediately. Dr He's excuse was that it was against his religion to prescribe narcotics. He's taken an oath to do no harm, yet pushes his belief system on others. Would not recommend.
I developed epi-retinal membrane (macular pucker) in an eye about 4.5 years ago. It got correctly diagnosed by two top retina specialists (ophthalmologists) in Dallas area. It progressed rapidly till I couldn’t read normal sized letters on computer with that eye about 3 years ago. At that point, both doctors recommended the same solution of using surgery soon to peel off the membrane and also mentioned that after the surgery most likely cataract will develop in 2 years and a cataract surgery will be needed. These are great doctors and the only things I was not very satisfied with were that (a) they seemed to only have 3 minutes to answer my questions and (b) when asked when I have to have the surgery done, they had no clear answer with one doctor saying something like “you will know by yourself”. Out of caution, I went to Dr. He some of my friends were seeing, and immediately liked him in that (a) he answered all my questions (in initial 2 visits) which took him 5x more time than the other two doctors and I believe he would keep answering if I had more questions (that’s why I also fully understood when I waited long time in the waiting room thinking that he might be spending more time with other patients), (b) he answered with confidence and state of art solutions such as they can also do both epi-retinal membrane and cataract surgeries in a single operation (with two different surgeons), and (c) he discussed all options and pros and cons for each, such as pointing out an additional concern that if cataract surgery is done then because of my severe nearsightedness an object will appear much larger in that eye than the other eye, which could lead to vision problem. Understanding from all three doctors that it is very rare for the membrane to come off by itself, I still hoped it could happens to me, and I didn’t want to do the surgery until it has to be done for a reason. Dr. He listened my concerns and said that as I can still drive and work normally and the condition still looks ok, I can wait and he can monitor my condition going forward and do surgery once the condition deteriorates to a certain point, as some of his over 3000 patients (of various conditions) are doing. I took the risk to wait and paid half-yearly visits for the first year and yearly visits for the last two years to see if the membrane might cause a more severe condition such as retina hole or detachment, and luckily during this week’s visit we found that the membrane came off by itself!!!
My wife and I love this doctor. He is very personable and a prodigy at diagnosis and surgery. He has dramatically helped both of our visions with surgery that saved vision with his ability with retinal and other problems. Dr. He is a happy man - just look into his eyes. Go see him by all means................
I cannot begin to tell you how wonderful Dr. He was with me. I had had a complication from a cataract surgery and Dr. He had to remove an eretinal membrane with a floater stuck in the middle of it. He explained everything thoroughly. His nurses, staff, fellows, all were kind to me every step of the way. Yesterday, when I realized there was nothing to be done with a negative dysphotopsia in my OTHER eye, he was so kind to me as I was upset that I would have scar tissue on my left lens. He had a waiting room full of people and he kindly sat with me and said how sorry he was that I was upset. That was all I needed. Putting aside the wonderful surgery he did which went off without a hitch. I highly recommend Dr. He if you need a retina specialist.
i really appreciate dr he looking into my eye. scar tissue on my right retina was a matter the local doctor here in my home town preferred to refer to ut sw. he treated my slight problem as seriously as if there was no other concern in his busy schedule. some pictures of my treefarm and toys can be seen at glemmond on facebook. thank you sir.
The best doctors know what they don't know. Unfortunately, Dr. He is not one of them. He stumbles his way through the unknown by way of unwavering assumption - which is fine, until he's wrong (which happens). It's an amazing thing: to have medical specialists unanimously agree on something in their field, only for Dr. He to come along, outside of his specialty, and obstinately declare it false. As I'm not Dr. He, I can't assume to know whether his folly is ignorance or ego; most certainly, he is inquisitionally impaired. This behavior affects his ability to treat his patients. A few more red flags cropped up throughout the year I spent in his care before I finally switched doctors. I haven't looked back. Regrettably, Dr. He is the worst experience I've ever had with a medical professional.
He is an amazing and extremely talented physician. I had major complications and he is the best there is. Great at explaining every step of the procedure and follow up.
Dr. He and his safe at children's are truly amazing!! My daughter has had 3 eye surgeries since March for a detached Retina in both her eyes. I consider him the best at what he does. He is very friendly! He interacts very well with children. He spends a good amount of time with his patients. He makes sure you leave your visits with all your questions answered. I am truly grateful that he and his staff were able to save my daughter's eye sight. I would recommend him in a heartbeat.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
