List of Mostafa Salama's Reviews
All through my pregnancy he was “fine”, very minimal bedside manner. At 36 weeks when I began to prepare my birth plan this changed. At the appointment he performed a strep test (anal swab) and asked consent. He them immediately performed a cervical check WITHOUT consent. I was startled and felt violated and he brushed it off and ignored my comment. He then proceeded to scratch off my birth plan, saying that he performs episiotomies frequently because he believed it to be better than tearing. This is no longer that case and is an outdated approach. We argued about several outdated techniques for birth as I hoped for a more natural approach. It was a terrible appointment. During delivery bedside manner was still nonexistent and the way that he sewed me up is both painful and unsightly. I believe he performed a “husband stitch” as well as misaligning the labia majora. I would absolutely not recommend this doctor and I believe he is only still practicing because of the rural area he resides in has so few providers.
My wife has been seeing some other OBGYN from San Antonio. She also delivered in San Antonio. But, after she had her c-section, her stiches got infected and we ended up in the ER 5 days after the c-section. The thing with Dr. Salama is, with our newborn and my wife being not fully recovered from the surgery I didn't want to drag them again to San Antonio and requested a postpartum appointment from him. It turns out he doesn't accept patients that he hasn't seen since the beginning of the maternity. His secretary simply refused us and now I have to drive my wife who is still suffering all the way to the San Antonio as well as our new born baby! Are you guys not under Hippocratic Oath here?
Best!
First time I see him and he really listened to what my problems were. He explained to me in detail everything that he will do to help me.
Dr. Salama delivered two of my children. This doctor has a truly great bedside manner. He is wonderful with patients and really cares. I love this doctor! He is the best OBGYN in Del Rio.
Close to a 2 hour wait time in the lobby.
He delivered all 3 of my children and did an amazing job Veronica professional and treated me as a person and patient not a chart number!
I rate this Doctor 5 stars. Dr. Mostafa Salama was my and son's doctor when I delivered him. 17 years ago. My experience was wonderful because he would sincerely express concern to my questions and treated me like a person rather than lesser than which most doctors seem to do. He was very knowledgeable about all areas of my pregnancy and his bedside manner was very comforting. I was very scared when I was going to deliver because my son was 11lbs and when the delivery date arrived he listen to my concerns and took immediate action and because of that my delivery was a breeze. After our delivery he stayed with us for a while and made sure my son and I were fine. Although I would have never picked a man for a doctor because I'm very old fashion, I am very pleased that I got over being a bit sexist in that area and picked him because of his skill set ! Thank you Doc.
Dr Salama delivered both of my babies. He was wonderful!
I canceled my first appointment and chose another doctor for 3 reasons. First, the staff was INCREDIBLY rude when taking my new patient information. I can't imagine spending 9 months interacting with them. Second, my initial pre-natal appointment was scheduled with a nurse practicioner, NOT the doctor. I wouldn't mind a nurse practicioner for follow ups, but I would expect the doctor to initially determine any potential risks or problems. I would also like to meet the doctor prior to the birth to make sure I like him, while I still have an option to change. Third, ultrasounds are not a standard part of the inital pre-natal appointment. They are only available "after hours" if deemed absolutely necessary. I was looking forward to the ultrasound verifying my babies age, determining if I'm carrying a single child or multiples, and ensuring the baby is growing as it should.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
