Have been here waiting for 2 hours now!! They took my husband back would not let me go back Unfriendly staff trying to keep patient away from family No communication !! Still waiting !! I’m a nurse and not happy!! Had to almost demand to go back and see him in a curtained room just waiting!! Husband super anxious now !! Ugh !! Horrible surgery center!! Typical get ‘em in get ‘em out with large corporate facility Will NOT be back but husband already prepped for surgery !! So they finally let me back to see husband over 2 hrs after arrival and over an hour since they took my husband back with no communication Husband anxious and scared and grumpy Moved us to room where nerve block would be done Anesthesiologist condescending and rude — never did meet CRNA who would do the actual intubation - was never even told that a CRNA would be intubating and managing the case - had to ask anesthesiologist who was quite indignant in answering !! That is wrong! And I will get charged twice for anesthesia - her response was ‘I will be checking in on her’ serious?? Total misrepresentation of care!! Pre-op nurses and OR nurse very nice ! If I did not believe in Dr Bothwell I would have taken my husband home Basically a typical fast paced surgery center that does not want to deal with families and they tell you for patient privacy but it is because they do not want to ‘deal’ with families -/ total bs — especially family members with medical experience People in waiting room complaining ‘ I have heard nothing for over an hour’ being told BS excuses Horrible place !! Also when requested to be in recovery was denied! It is my right to be with my family member !! I have worked in many recovery units and surgical centers — it is for staff convenience and ease to not let family in - I am so not happy ! I was called just now by the OR nurse -/ almost 4 hours after arrival— surgery is just now starting !! Wow! 5 hours later our Amazing surgeon called! All went well! I know it is not staff’s problem that the surgeon is running behind or some cases take longer than others!! My issue is the lack of communication with families! I have been sitting in this waiting room all day and I have heard the complaints and how patients are being treated about their Loved ones care! This is post COVID!! I understand as a nurse who has worked in the ICU/ recovery room for 20 years that it is easier to not ‘deal with families’ But sitting on the other side has been a rude awakening!! This is our second ortho surgery with my husband and the previous surgery center was Amazing!! Off clearfork in new hospital area — such a Totally different experience!! Just sayin!! 🤷🏻♀️
I can't pick a specific "thing" that I found to be "the best thing" about the Surgery Center because from the moment I stepped through the door until I stepped back into our vehicle, I felt that I had chosen the right facility to have my eye surgery performed. Having read many negative comments on the internet, I was prayerful that my experience would be different AND it was. Thank you for the care and respect that everyone, each step of the way, gave me. Senior citizens can often feel we are considered an inconvenience and a pariah to those tasked to provide care to us. NEVER at this facility did I have those feelings displayed to me. Truly the EXACT opposite. I extend my thanks to each and everyone that was charged with caring for me. I don't seek medical care as I should for this exact reason but that day, I celebrated my having been treated at Texas Health Surgery Center Fort Worth Midtown:)
Discrimination! After all the pre prep for cataract removal. They won't take me because I'm disabled, use a w/c, not ambulatory, and need assistance transfering from chair to whatever they use. Not happy at all!!
great place, by what ive been told by many people that i know very kind front office staff being bilingual is a plus for me !!
Believe the bad reviews. Woke up in pain Anesthesiologist didn’t to their job. Billing department? Don’t get me started. Avoid this place at all costs
I had a great experience at this surgery hospital. Front desk person was awesome! The nurses, doctors and the staff were awesome as well. They didn’t rush me out of recovery. They gave me water and crackers right away! I would highly recommend this place!
THE NURSES AND THE DOCTORS WERE GREAT. THE ADMINISTRATION PEOPLE,NOT SO MUCH ,THEY WERE HARD TO GET AHOLD OF ,THEY WOULD CALL AND YOU CALL THEM BACK AND VMAIL ,PLAY PHONE TAG ,VERY FRUSTRATING .THEY TOLD ME MY OUT OF POCKET AND NOT BEEN MET ,WHEN IT HAD ,THEY READ THE INSURANCE WRONG,ALSO THE ANTHESIOLOGIST WAS NOT IN MY NETWORK. ARE U KIDDING ,ITS UNITED HEALTHCARE.ANYWAY THE SURGERY WENT WELL AND DR CRAWFORD IS GREAT. .
IF YOU ARE NOT A 1000% HEALTHY PERSON RUN AS FAR AWAY AS YOU CAN. WELL YOU WILL BE FORCED TO. I HAVE TORN BICEP TENDON. I'M IN EXCRUCIATING PAIN 24/7. PAIN WAKES ME AT LEAST TWICE PER NIGHT. MY SURGEON ONLY DOES SURGERY HERE. NOW SINCE I HAVE THE DIAGNOSIS OF A LUNG DISEASE THE SURGERY CENTER IS REFUSING TO ALLOW ME TO HAVE MY SURGERY HERE EVEN THOUGH I HAVE 3 COMPLETELY CLEAR CT SCANS DONE 6 MONTHS APART AS WELL AS A BREATHING TEST THAT CONFIRMS THAT I HAVE NORMAL LUNG FUNCTION AND NORMAL LUNG CAPACITY. NOW IM BEING FORCED TO FIND ANOTHER SURGEON AND GO THOUGH THE MONTHS LONG PROCESS OF PT, MAKING PT IT FLARE UP, STOPPING PT FOR A MONTH, RETURNING TO PT, MAKING PT FLAIR UP AND, THEN GOING THROUGH THE LONG PROCESS OF SCHEDULING SURGERY. RE-DOING ALL OF THE PRE-OPS GETTING, SURGERY CLEARANCE AGAIN. I HAVE ALREADY EXHAUSTED ALL NON SURGERY OPTIONS AND NOW IM BEING FORCED TO START ALL OVER AT SQUARE ONE.
ENRAGED is an extremely mild word for what I am feeling right now! I just got a call from the surgeon's office. The Surgery Center where I was to have my facial surgery on Friday, will not let me come because my BMI is 1% over their limit. Now, ordinarily, I understand those limits quite well. But, they did NOT do a physical to discover whether or not I am otherwise healthy (I am.) and just overweight. They went by a survey they sent me 10 days ago. Ten days ago, I actually weighed a couple of pounds more than I do today. My weight has been going up and down a couple of pounds for several weeks (trending downward, thankfully). So, WHY did they wait until two days before the surgery to decide this? I have already arranged time off, that I will now have to alter. I have already prepared myself mentally and emotionally for the procedure, that will now be delayed by a minimum of five days (and THAT will be determined by my insurance company and whether or not they will allow the change of venue to a surgery center that WILL allow the procedure without having to go through another month long approval process.) On top of everything else, I already took the Covid-19 test, which I have no problem with, but the nurse was a jerk. He spoke to me as if I were an idiot because I asked him to slow down because he was speaking too rapidly to easily understand while wearing his N95 mask, AND while someone else was talking to me at the same time. I gave him no trouble while he was doing the test--thankfully not the one that scrapes the back of your sinuses--. His attitude just sucked. I don't care if it was his 10,000th time to administer that test, for most of his patients, it's probably their first. They are coming in ONLY because they are having surgery; they are anxious and upset already; and frankly, they leave really ticked off at his mother for not teaching him better manners. The kicker...unless something goes drastically wrong, they weren't even knocking me out for this procedure. It was to be done under local anesthesia, with me awake the entire time. UPDATE: My insurance will NOT transfer the authorization, but they are supposedly referencing the old authorization in the new one. If I call them and they tell me it will be another 15 business days before they are required to respond, I will blow a gasket. As long as the procedure was approved, it should be approved at any In-Network facility.
Avoid this place if you possibly can, especially if you are a senior. They need to rename it to "The Center for Unpleasant Surprises." I had cataract surgery here on March 11 and March 25. The patient check-in person was pleasant but never thought to offer me the little plastic bag that it is customary to offer patients to put their belongings in (I learned about this only on my second visit), and I had to go into surgery with my belongings simply resting on my chest under the blanket, unsecured. In the nursing intake area, a woman tried repeatedly and unsuccessfully to find a vein to put the IV needle in. Mistakes happen, but the whole time she was jabbing me here and there, she was *laughing* about it. While she was doing that, someone else was putting drops in my eyes. The intake nurse asked me if I was OK and I replied that I certainly was not and that I doubted the competence of the care I was receiving. That was not the answer they wanted, and instead of saying "We're sorry, and we'll do better," the other nurse, who had come along to relieve the first one who couldn't get the needle in my vein, treated me to a patronizing lecture to the effect that "I'm not sure I feel comfortable trying to put a needle in your vein." Somehow, she got over her discomfort and got the needle in. When I told the anesthesiologist in the prep area what had happened, she sent for a supervisor of the intake room, who promised to be available to speak to me after the procedure. She did, indeed, meet me at my bedside after the procedure, listened to what I had to say, and then gently explained that they couldn't always easily find a vein. I could not make her understand that it does not increase a patient's comfort to have someone laughing while repeatedly sticking a patient or to be lectured on how the *nurse* is uncomfortable in all this. I was not there for their comfort; it was the other way around. In any case, the procedure was successful, and the nurse-anesthetist was very good. The surgeon discussed dosages and related matters with me when I visited him the next day. I went for my second procedure. This time, they remembered the plastic bag, and the intake nurse got the needle in without fumbling around. In the prep area, a different nurse-anesthetist came in, and when I tried to relate to him what the doctor had said about dosage, he interrupted and said "I'll make that call." The anesthesiologist asked me if all my concerns from the previous visit were resolved, and I said they were not. She then brought back a nurse manager who said she would be available to talk to me after this procedure, whereupon the nurse-anesthetist interrupted to say that wouldn't be possible because I would not be in my right mind. I'm serious. The rudeness in this place is absolutely beyond belief. They do not know what they are doing, and they have an attitude about it. I don't know if they do any other outpatient procedures than cataract surgery, but if they do, and if a doctor ever schedules me to go here again, I will refuse.
