Had been seeing him for the last 15 years, me and my family had been to his office for knee treatment, knee surgery and he is the best in the north Dallas area. We are fortunate enough to get him when we need him the most. The staff in his office is very friendly and understanding, and Becky is the best !! Thank you Dr Bruce for what you do for the community.
My husband suffered a painful shoulder injury back in March 2022. We didn’t know about Dr Douthit at that time. We went to a doctor from our church as my husband had been treated by him in the past, considered him a friend, had been on mission trips with this other doctor, and this other doctor came highly recommended. We were sorely disappointed with this other dr’s treatment of my husband‘s painful shoulder, we couldnt get on this guys surgery schedule, his surgery scheduler wouldn’t call us back, among other things, the whole thing was very disappointing and time kept ticking away while my husband was in an extreme amount of pain, so we decided to look around for a second opinion. We looked around, asked around, Dr. Douthits’ name came up a couple of times, so off we went to Dr Douthit for a second opinion. We were so impressed with the amount of time he spent with us and the information that he gave us on our initial visit. He spent more time with us in that initial appointment than the other doctor had spent with us in 4 appointments combined, not kidding. When we presented to Dr Douthit’s office on a Thursday afternoon we had a stack of medical records with us. Dr Douthit did his examination of my husband and told us he needed to read through all of those medical records before making a final opinion. He told us he’d call us as soon as he could read through all if it. We were shocked to receive a phone call from Dr Douthit, the following Saturday, after he had waded through all those documents, just two days sfter our office visit. That is when he gave us his “final 2nd opinion.” We decided to move forward with Dr Douthit as our surgeon. He performed surgery the following week. He performed a shoulder repair surgery on my husband. My husband is now 13 weeks post surgery and doing very well. There were two complete tears of the rotator cuff, bone spurs and arthritis, plus a bicep tendon that needed to be repaired and re attached. After surgery Dr Douthit immediately came to me with several photos and a detailed explanation of all that he had done for my husbands’ shoulder. He’s been in physical therapy for several weeks now and all is good, very good. The physical therapist reports he’s ahead of schedule in his rehabilitation and my husband reports that he’s never had the range of motion in that shoulder that he has now. Dr Douthit’s “bedside manner” is also very good. We really like Dr Douthit and can’t recommend him highly enough, he should have 20 stars in our opinion but five is all we can give. He is very thorough, very knowledgeable, a thoughtful and humble individual, and truly a delight. We also like his nurse, his medical assistant and the office staff, they are all just as nice and professional as they can be.
Great with kids with sports injuries and did my rotator! I highly recommend him!
first visit with Dr. Douthit today. Wonderful bedside manner, thorough and detailed and extremely knowledgeable. I was very impressed.
Dr. Douthit is caring, kind, thorough and knowledgeable.
Dr. Douthit is outstanding! I've been to many orthos throughout the years with chronic knee osteoarthritis since my early teens and he's definitely top 5! I was referred to him from a someone who works with him in the OR and so glad I did! I came to see him for a second opinion. He took his time reviewing my entire history and my long case, answered all our questions, and really showed HEART! It was such a refreshing visit and I can't recommend him enough. It's worth it to learn how to pronounce his name!
Dr. Douthit and staff are very professional and friendly.
TOP NOTCH PHYSICIAN AND STAFF Dr Douthit was my 2nd opinion dr who became the primary ortho care giver for my fractured scaphoid bone. The 1st dr I went to disagreed with the radiologists fractured scaphoid bone diagnosis and placed my wrist in a brace that extended to the thumb. I was told by the 1st doctor it was ok to use my fingers except the thumb (this ortho doctor was part of my family doctor's physician group which is why I went there...for convenience). The next day my fingers were swollen from the tight brace along with a full blown out rash on my thumb. And when I called the doctors office, there was no urgent concern...only abrupt direction to put ice, and some over the counter cortisone cream for the thumb which was twice its size (my family doctor later gave me a steroid injection). Having had skin rash issues all my life that developed into blood infections, I knew I needed steroid shot & prescription strength ointment to avoid an infection. Since the nurse didn't seem concerned about my situation regardless of my health history, nor did she care to consult with my family doctor down the hall, I called Dr Douthit (he was the doctor who cared for my daughter's fractured heel 15+ years ago). What a difference!! He immediately diagnosed the injury as a scaphoid bone fracture that must be cast. Scaphoid bone has a tiny blood vessel in the bone that can be pinched from a fracture, killing the bone due to lack of blood flow. If that happens without a cast to keep it secure from any movement, surgery would be required. Arthritis would set in between 2-4 yrs if not resolved. Additionally, movement from my other fingers was NOT allowed as it would still create some movement from the thumb which must be kept immobile. This type of fracture requires approximately 12 weeks in a cast. Luckily, as I type this, it took my wrist 11 weeks to heal. After 3 casts, I'm in a brace, going to therapy to help with movement to eliminate stiff pain, and all looks like I'm healing nicely, in spite of the time I was put in a brace by another doctor which could have cost me 6 figures in surgery out of my own pocket had I kept moving my fingers without a cast (my new insurance started 2 months later). Apologies for the long review but I felt it critical to share the details. Going to a professional, experienced, well educated doctor can make a difference with your lifetime health. Dr Douthit CALLED ME HIMSELF PERSONALLY THE NEXT DAY AFTER MY CAST WAS PUT ON!! His concern was over my swelled fingers from when I first walked into his office. He did not want blood clots to form so he had me start taking aspirin for precautions along with the usual ice packs and elevating 2 pillows above your heart (count yourself blessed to have a doctor call you up to check in on you). The staff was top notch as well. My check-in was safe with awesome covid protocols in place, calls were returned promptly with compassion, patience and kind/calm voices (thank you Becky), my one rescheduled appt during the holiday due to family emergency was impossible but somehow still made possible (thank you Star)!! This in my opinion is a 5-star review, hands down and well deserved!!!
Have gone to Dr Douthit for years. He is one of the best!
Starting with the front office experience, Karen and team are friendly and accommodating - superior service. Rarely does a medical professional and specialist combine expertise with a fun and friendly manner, but Dr. Douthit is one of these few. He's thorough and calming with a view to recovery from injury while coming back stronger than ever.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
