Fernando Hayetian Md's Online Review Report Card

I went to to see Dr. Hayetian for gallbladder removal surgery after learning that I had a bunch of small gallbladder stones that had landed me in the ER with extreme pain. On my surgery date Dr. Hayetian and his team went over everything with me, including the surgery, recovery, and various medications. Their standard medication they send you home with for pain management is Norco, which I explain to them that I’m slightly allergic to (causes itching). They said it wouldn’t be a problem and would make sure I was taken care of. They also tell you it’s a minor surgery and you won’t hurt that bad afterwards and that “most patients walk out the same day”. The surgery itself went well according to Dr. Hayetian. However, when I woke from anesthesia, I was in EXTREME PAIN. They fed me medication through my IV initially and the monitored me for the first hour in phase 1 of recovery. Once I was coherent, they moved me to phase 2 of recovery, where I was still in a lot of pain. Phase 2 is where everything turned into a nightmare for me. Because I had so much pain, they kept me many additional hours beyond what I was told - to monitor me. I laid there for hours and hours explaining to them my pain and how bad it was. They came in and gave me ibuprofen. An hour after administering ibuprofen, my pain was still off the charts. My 4 incision areas felt like they were on fire and my lower back and shoulder were in intense pain from the gas they expanded my stomach with during surgery. Because I’m somewhat allergic to Norco, all they would give me was ibuprofen for the pain. It was a complete joke! “Here, take some over the counter ibuprofen for your surgery you just had done”!??? They didn’t offer any pain medication alternatives. They literally watched me FOR HOURS laying there sobbing in pain! I finally called my mom to come pick me up and made them take out my IV that was just giving me useless fluids at that point. The nurses tried to convince me to stay but at that rate I wanted to go home and suffer vs suffer in the hospital where they wouldn’t lift a finger to help me. Just before I left an anesthesiologist came to see me and prescribed me 1 alternative pain pill prior to me leaving (which I had no allergic reaction to I might add). He even sounded suprised they’d let me lay there in pain without offering any relief, as he explained to me there are many Norco alternatives. Better than the doctor who did nothing for me, I guess. Aside from that, I was sent home with nothing except instructions to take ibuprofen. Since being home I’ve been in a ridiculous amount of pain. Ibuprofen does NOTHING for the pain. My incisions feel like fire and my insides feel like they are in twisted knots of pain. When calling back to the doctor to explain how much I still hurt I’m told “go to the er”… Seriously?!?! A place that’s going to charge me an Astronomical amount of money and tell me to follow up with my doctor anyways - you know, the one who’s refusing to help me!? This entire practice is a joke!!! This whole experience has been an absolute nightmare! If you are allergic to certain pain meds like Norco and value your sanity and not suffering to death - STAY AWAY FROM THIS SURGON AND PRACTICE!! If I could go back in time, knowing what I know now, I absolutely would not have done the surgery. Or, at the least, selected a totally different surgeon. Steer clear!

The doctor did not take the time to actual listen to me. I left feeling like all he did was try to push me away. If you have complications with your health do not go see this doctor.

Dr Hayetian performed the emergency surgery on my 15 y.o. son when his appendix ruptured. Dr H is an Amazing surgeon and human. He was so friendly, warm and caring. He let us know everything that was going on and kept checking in with us. He treated us like family. My son healed up perfectly and is now as good as new. He and his team saved my sons life and we are forever grateful! ❤️ You are in good hands with Dr Hayetian!!

Dr. Hayetian did my colonoscopy and found my cancer. He was wonderful with calming me down and explaining everything to me. Would recommend to others and if needed for surgery I would have him again.

Prescribe pain medication that had adverse effects and refused to give another per previous indications.
