Best Care I have ever had. Would say nothing but Good things about My experience at UT MB. I have ovarian cancer and have been treated special every time I walk in the door. From my doctor doctor Gwen Richardson to the infusion center where I have chemo in all my nurses there are MD Anderson nurses.

Don't deliver here if you can help it. Let me start by saying I transferred myself here due to a bad experience with another hospital. That review can be found online for Texas Children's. I was treated as a high risk pregnancy right away, even though I had delivered 3 low risk healthy babies with midwives and no pain medication. Everything that was normal with me was treated as a medical emergency where I was rushed to specialists. I believe they did this to milk my Medicaid. I spotted around week 12 and went to the ER. They found that my placenta was covering my cervix, called placenta previa. They sent me to specialists for that. Except the specialist said it was a very common normal condition in early pregnancy . No biggie, except for EVERY prenatal visit the student would enter the room and say, "you're high risk I see" and start rattling off these made up normal "risks". I told them I had seizures at 15 years old due to a medication reaction. They made me go do ekgs. During that, some obnoxious inspector was going in and out of the dark room I was supposed to relax in. Needless to say, they found some normal heart flutters. Then, they made me go put a damn 48 hr heart monitor on, even though the cardiologist (an actual dr, not student) said my heart was normal. I wore the monitor and had murmurs within normal ranges. The thing is, all these specialists were all located sparsely and a pain to take off work and go drive off the island for. And even though they all said I was normal, the students on 7th floor all kept these things on my chart as "high risk" emergencies. Totally normal things were labeled as high risk. I had opted for the midwife program, and for this reason I was not allowed to have a midwife. Around the very end of my pregnancy I started feeling and knowing I was suffering from preeclampsia . My urine protein counts were high, yet this office did nothing. I was over 37 weeks at this point. They didn't even notice the real emergency this time. So I go in on my own when I go into labor. A very rude student dr with green hair tells me I'm not really in labor, my contractions arent strong enough. But she won't let me go home either. She asks why I dont want to just stay and I'm like because pitocin hurts and I dont want pain medication. To which she stared at me like she had never heard that before and actually asked, "why?" Like I was an idiot. So they move me to l and d and I got a real doctor who explained that i was right and had preeclampsia (first time a UTMB dr catches this, 2 weeks later) she explains that they should have induced me at 37 weeks. Basically my baby and I are being poisoned by my placenta. Great, so I allow them to do their will. They will, attach several heart monitors to you so that you are tied to the bed. They then pumped me with the maximum amount of pitocin possible. It hurts. Bad. It makes your contractions stronger. And they dialed the level up so high that they were in fear of my babies heart rate level so then they stuck a monitor up my cervix with metal barbs to attach to my babies skull. He was born with marks from this. At this point I also have to have a cathedar because I can't use the bathroom. Imagine your comfort level at this point ladies. Tied to a bed, one tube up your urethra, a bigger tubes with metal barbs stuck into your babies head up your cervix. I finally broke down and had my first epidural ever. The anesthesiologist was pretty good. By the time she was done it was already time to push. I was instructed to not push because there was no doctor but I told them I couldn't help it and I was going to push. Dad almost missed it, because the anesthesiologist made him leave for that. The doctor student who delivered us was actually the same doctor from our er visit, so that was neat. He helped by pulling my baby out gently. You will not rest during your recovery stay. They will come in every few minutes. They will force train you how to take care of your baby, regardless how many babies you've had. They treated me like I was an idiot.
