List of Howsden Dermatology's Reviews
Dr. Kia and staff are the best.
Terrible front desk staff . The Hispanic lady with thin hair in the front had a terrible attitude wouldn’t recommend coming here.
I took my son to this dermatologist office for the first time. The lady in the front has a horrible attitude. Did not greet us, just said ID, insurance. She would giggle in my face. Maybe its a coincidence but she definitely did not treat the person behind like this. They said a manager will be reaching out but have not heard anything.
Dr Kia took a lipoma off my forehead and made the scar vertical so it completely stands out. I'm forever scarred. I honestly think he did that on purpose because I missed a couple of appointments previously. There was no reason why he had to put a vertical scar on my forehead when he could have just simply cut it horizontally like most surgeons do. He is not a good dermatologist
Dr. Kia was very friendly and professional at my first appointment with him. I went in for a skin cancer check due to some unknown bumps on my face. My appointment was at 9am, I arrived around 8:45am and was done by about 9:20am. He let me ask about my concerns first and educated me on what they were (thankfully not skin cancer). Then he did a full body check. He did diagnose me with rosacea and provided a prescription. The whole thing took about 5 minutes but it didn’t feel rushed. Overall it was a good experience and I will continue to see him for any skin concerns. I do wish the prescriptions would be sent electronically to the pharmacy but I can deal with paper prescriptions. The only thing I don’t like is the appointment system. You have to call and leave a message to make an appointment and then they will call back and schedule. I would rather call and have someone answer so I can make an appointment immediately as I may not be available when they call back. It would cut down on the back and forth.
Had to call to cancel an appointment not once, but TWICE. Pretty sure they charge a "late" cancelation fee, too. Incompetence or malice? In either case, the front office staff clearly cannot run things appropriately. Doctor I met with was very rushed and did not listen to my concerns. I did not feel heard nor listened to. I had to take my prescription ON PAPER to the pharmacy, physically, in 2024. There was no option to have it sent on my behalf. Further, there were instructions written on my paper prescription that I was supposed to turn in to the pharmacy. The scribe advised me that I need to take a picture or otherwise write down the directions, as the pharmacy would not retain the instructions. Sure enough, they were not printed on my bottle as written. This seems careless at best, and dangerous at worst, impacting patient safety and care. There are hundreds of dermatologists in the dfw area. Go to literally anyone else.
The doctor seemed knowledgeable but very rushed, which affected the overall experience. The handwritten prescription instructions were unclear, even for the pharmacist. When I called today to clarify, the nurse seemed uncertain and changed the instructions twice during our conversation. I requested a follow-up via email or text for clarity, but this was denied. After being put on hold, the nurse returned and changed the instructions yet again. I hope these are now correct. I have a follow-up appointment with Dr. Kia on Monday, October 7, and I hope the practice’s overall service experience is much improved. I will update this review based on that visit.
I have been going to see Dr. Kia at Howsden Dermatology for several years. My internist had recommended him to check some areas on my scalp. Dr. Kia is excellent. He is thorough, professional and takes time to answer any questions you might have. The office staff is friendly and helpful. My husband is also a patient of Dr. Kia and we are both extremely happy with our experiences there.
Doctors are the best. Great care and very good follow-up They have treated both my husband and myself. Couldn't ask for better
This review is for the office and does not represent Dr Kia. I have been a patient of Dr Kevin F Kia for many years, and he is a very good doctor. However, I made an appointment for my daughter, and the office refused to check the benefits. They won't tell me if the doctor still accept my insurance and what's my visit cost. Based on other reviews, it seems like there is a need for more training for the office personnel. Unfortunately, we will be seeing another doctor.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
