List of Afc Urgent Care - West University's Reviews
I had to get my ear checked after work today. They could see me at 3:30. From the moment I walked in, I was warmly greeted by the lovely receptionist, and signed in. James was the young man who did the check in once I was in a room. He was very nice and professional. Jessica was the healthcare professional who saw me. She was also very nice, professional, and thorough. The place was clean and organized. The on line appointment process was easy. I would definitely go back!
Friendly, quick, efficient and right next to a Walgreens, ample parking and open until 8:00. I had a terrible allergic reaction; my face was swollen, burned and was itchy and stingy all at once. It was spreading too down my neck. They have a QR check in, love that! I went late on a Friday night and was treated and out in maybe 30 mins total. That's outstanding in my book.
Very definition of a quack shack, I went to this place Monday 10th. Wasn't feeling well-but more importantly was traveling to care for my elderly mother after surgery. I was tested for Covid and flu. I asked for a strep test. Was told I "just had allergies and it wasn't necessary". Yep, you guessed it-I had strep...and a sinus infection so severe it migrated to my eyes. The absolute pain I have endured because these folks don't know what they are doing is incredible. I have spent the last two weeks trying to recover from an illness I knew I had. Yes, it convenient...but find a primary care physician to build a relationship with. I promise it's not these folks.
AFC Urgent Care is a good place to be if circumstances necessitate such. I was seen immediately, no wait whatsoever. Everyone - receptionists, my nurse, the technicians - were totally accommodating . Houston Fire EMT's arrived and did their jobs perfectly, SO professional - I have nothing but gratitude for being in such capable hands.
I won't be returning here as I realize a lot of others have had problems like me. My insurance plan is $20 for urgent care and they charged me $145. This is either being done intentionally as a scam or someone in the front needs proper training. I will be doing a chargeback and not returning.
I have had great luck with this Urgent Care clinic. Over the past twenty years they have been there when I needed them. Excellent service from generic flu treatment, to urgent UTI care, to the incredibly kind doctor who treated me after Hurricane Harvey for a 72 hour exposure wading in contaminated flood waters while rescuing my own patients during an ICF vertical evacuation. Excellent and compassionate care was provided during each and every encounter.
I went to get my eye checked on Friday evening, 10/21, about 30 minutes before closing, as my eye was causing too much pain and getting worse with time. The staff was welcoming even if there were just a few minutes left of their shift. Dr. Alex was amazing in explaining my diagnosis and providing the pharmacy the medication I needed. It is the first urgent care I felt heard, and followed up 2 days later to make sure if everything is going well. Will be coming back here if another emergency comes up.
I told the nurse I was allergic to amoxicillin when she came in. As I was looking at the paperwork when in my car, I realized the "prescriber" had in fact, called in amoxicillin to the pharmacy. When I called there was no apology for their big mistake. Not only that, but I was swabbed for anything and just given an antibiotic. I was also given a list of OTC medicine, some of which, I found out later, are not safe during the first trimester. I'm glad I did my due diligence in both checking my prescription, as well as asking the pharmacist about the OTC medicine. Save your money and time! Go to a different urgent care.
9/25 visit arrive at clinic at 6pm was not seen until almost after 7pm for cold symptoms, ( waited in freezing cold room) was sent home after covid test done and said will text results. They close at 8pm and no text, we called at 8 and answering machine answered useless visit and have no idea what is result covid?virus?strep throat??) what prescribed symptomatic meds fluticasine nasal spray, mucinex, ceterizine....... useless $50 copay fir nothing!!!!!
I've been to this facility twice, each time I paid the visit in full, however I've been expecting for the visits to be filed with the insurance so I can get credited towards my deductible, their billing department is not providing the help I need and don't seem to understand what I am asking for. Also I believe some amount should be credited back to me once the visits are filled with the insurance

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
