List of Benjamin Hendin's Reviews
Dr. Hendin is an awesome doctor. He has completed three surgeries on me and the experience was very professional. He's an expert in his field and I'm so grateful that I chose him as my doctor. After my wife selected him. His staff is good too.
Excellent Urologist. Really know his stuff, spends extra time with you and and answers any question you may have. Very professional Doctor.
Got me sorted with medication after I had a crisis with BPH on vacation. Gently persuaded me to undergo TURP after 2 years of hesitation. Found and removed trace of bladder cancer during TURP pre-exam. Successful TURP on 2nd attempt and successful follow op on cancer. Schedule sometimes slips a little when a patient is found to have a bigger problem than was originally scheduled, but since I was helped in such a situation I’m glad to wait.
While the procedure went very well, and the doctor seems to be an accomplished surgeon, the doctor did not concern himself with handling the area, surgical field, with care. I was just locally numb. The doctor handled me as if I had a general anastdic. He hurt me a few times. I am wondering how much of the post-op pain is from the mishandling and how much is from the surgery?
I had a great experience with Dr. Hendin. He is a bit quirky and different from my experiences with other doctors but I still found myself liking his attitude and down to earth nature. He is very upfront and tells it to you plainly. The review from the lady below sounds like an isolated incident and a misunderstanding. Personally I would have been thankful to have had a doctor tell me he was incapable of helping instead of just giving false hope. EIther way, I had a vasectomy done by him and it went well enough. I am a disabled veteran and have been through a lot of trauma, so when Dr Hendin saw I was quite nervous about the procedure he let me know I could be knocked out for it if I needed to. Which I did end up choosing to do. So if you have a fear of needles, cutting, etc, it appears he is willing to work with you in this regard. Good doctor. I do recommend him.
Great experience with Dr. Hendin. He is an excellent urologist, very knowledgeable and very professional. I highly recommend Dr. Hendin to anyone whose condition falls into his realm of expertise.
When a doctor is down-to-earth enough and isn't overcome by any kind of ego to admit that he feels like a patient's health concern is out of his scope of confidence and expertise, you are one of the lucky few that has stumbled upon a PHENOMENAL doctor. I had the privilege of working with Dr. Hendin for two years. He is honest, straight-forward, brilliant and humble. I was proud and excited whenever I got to work with him. Most doctors who know a patient's health concern is out of their league will keep it to themselves and take you on as a patient any way. This leads to terrible outcomes. More office visits, tests and re-dos than necessary are only a few of the nightmares to be expected (all of which cost more money). To top it all off, you will eventually have to see another doctor to address any mishaps that have happened with the doctor that should have been honest as Dr. Hendin was with you. A medical professional who does not have the courage to admit when a patient's health issue would be better treated by another doctor is not one I trust. It takes a person of honorable, trustworthy character who is looking out for everyone's best health to admit when their gut tells them another doctor would be able to be of more help than him/herself. Trust those men and women. Ask them who they recommend that you see instead. Being vulnerable and sick is terrifying. I empathize. Please know that doctors truly want to help you. They work harder than we give them credit for sometimes to be able to give their patients the best of care. Dr. Hendin is one of the good ones. When we all have to wait longer than we'd like to be able to see our doctors for an appointment, please know that it is usually because they are helping others like yourself. They get stuck in surgery longer than expected, a normal office visit can turn into discovering something much worse than expected which can take more time to attend to... please know they aren't fully-dallying. They are working themselves as hard as their bodies allow them to help everyone of his patients. When I'm waiting longer than expected I think to myself, "In medicine, the unexpected happens every day. Having to wait longer is assurance that I will be given the same extra care if need-be."
I came to see Dr. Hendin for help with an over active bladder problem that I had been dealing with for a very long time. As it turned out he was unable to help me because the problem was in his words beyond the realm of his expertise. Naturally I was upset and started to cry. He in turn asked me why I was crying and that this had been a problem for awhile and "what was the urgency" I was speechless at the time, now I am not. Sir, having the sensation that you are about to give birth 24/7 is a horrible feeling one that I would not wish on my worst enemy. I think you should attempt to be a bit more considerate of your female patients. I personally wouldn't refer anyone to you. I also waited 11/2 hrs to see you which was also ridiculous.
Waited 50 min. and still did not see Hendin, despite arriving 30 minutes early for my appt (in the waiting room for 1 hr 20 minutes). Can't comment on the level of care...but warn of his scheduling practices. Did witness an interesting little patient revolt when the office manager announced that all appointments could expect a 45 minute wait (this general announcement was made after I had waited 40 minutes past my appt. time). 2 others yelled that this was the 2nd time he did this to them...
Dr. Hendin is an excellent urologist. He is very knowledgeable and competent. He really cares about his patients.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
