David M Bloome's Online Review Report Card

While he is an excellent surgeon, Dr. Bloome makes me feel like he isn’t hearing what I am saying. He leaves issues hanging and his administrative assistant, who is not a doctor, ends up answering the questions. I do not feel comfortable with this as she has consistently proven unreliable in relaying messages to the doctor, so how can I consider her answers to me to be reliable?

Arthritis made walking nearly impossible. Dr. Bloome treated it for a time with injections but the last time, they just did not help. Surgery was next. He is fusing several bones in my feet (one foot at a time), a complex surgery with ugly screws and other devices implanted but the exterior of the foot only has a couple of scars. I can walk again. He explained all the risks, as well as potential benefits, and he has seen me several times since the surgery to examine progress and explain what is going on, what I can expect, and admonitions about what to avoid. Easy to talk to, easy to understand.

He was personable, empathetic, and professional. He listened and answered my questions, and presented considered approaches to my issue which resulted in an appropriate framework to go forward. May every patient be so well-served.

Great doctor. Easy to understand

Dr. Bloome has been my physician for many years. I appreciate his conservative and yet thorough approach to my specific, medical needs.

Dr. Bloome fused my left ankle in 2014 and did an amazing job. Ive had no problems whatsoever , so when my right ankle went south a couple years later , I had no doubt he would be the surgeon to perform any type of procedure if it became necessary. Unfortunately it did become necessary but by then I was living in Pittsburgh, PA. Im sure there are very competent surgeons in Pennsylvania but I returned to Houston to have Dr. Bloome again perform this surgery. I wouldn't trust any other doctor to do it. The result was again, amazing ! Dr. Bloome has to be one of the best ankle specialist in Texas if not the country. I highly recommend.

I went to Dr. Bloome for a painful bump on the bottom of my foot. After X-Rays and his personal examination he said it was caused by a neuroma and surgery was schedule and completed. Dr. Bloome performed the surgery from the top down. About a month after the surgery I was still in pain and the bump still existed and got larger. After doing an MRI with Contrast it was determined I had a tumor and additional surgery would be required on the bottom of my foot! How they could miss this from the start just baffles me. I got that surgery with a different Doctor and facility. They removed a large "giant cell tumor" from my foot. His decision to go from the top and not where the pain was emanating from and not to do a more thorough examination from the beginning seemed very rushed and flawed. He was not a good listener in my opinion. I highly recommend to "NOT" use Dr. Bloome.

Very Disappointing Diagnosis Process and Surgical Procedure: I went to Dr. Bloome for a painful bump on the bottom of my foot. He said it was caused by a neuroma. He performed surgery through the top of my foot. Subsequently after the surgery the bump got larger...It was a tumor. I scheduled a second surgery, on the bottom of my foot with a different orthopedic surgeon to remove the tumor. DO NOT use Doctor Bloome in my opinion. NOT RECOMMENDED!

Dr. Bloome is the most caring doctor, I had my foot surgery and the next morning my scooter tipped and I stepped on my non weight bearing foot….I am a panicker and I emailed Dr. Bloome and he responded about 1 hour later by email an assured me I should be ok,!! For him to take the time to respond so quickly means the world to a worry wart like me. I have complete trust in this man, and he cares about his patients; he called me the night of my surgery to see how I was!!! I will always recommend this Dr to anyone needing foot or ankle surgery
