List of Md Anderson Cancer Center Mays Clinic's Reviews
Sometimes better than having to deal with the main building. A few nurses are really caring & kind. Helpful. Do research on the physicians & get the best. Don't settle for anyone who's not competent. Dr. Irene Yu is an awful oncologist & untrustworthy.
I called several times to make an appointment the lady was extremely rude and refused to help me see a doctor.I spoke to the same lady in the morning who promised to call me in the afternoon to give an appointment but never called.i called the following day and i spoke to Ruth who was extremely helpful and took my details sad enough she redirected me to the same lady who said it does matter if i am in pain i should wait for my turn to get Dr appointment for the fist time was not willing to help very sad it happens this day and age.i have not had a call back in two weeks.Even after taking my insurance details sad indeed. One will pass the stage of being able to be helped because someone refuse to help or refuse to be kind.
Staff is excellent. Every person encountered even in the hallways were willing to help with directions or questions we had. Very clean building with strict C-19 protocols. Each waiting room seems to have a different amount of seating available but it is designed to match the flow of patients per department. This building is very well lit with large windows and as per the theme throughout the hospital system large photographs of flowers. The tree sculpture is the main attraction and also a landmark to find your place to elevators and the skybridge back to the other side of the street. (1515 Holcombe) It's a long walk so make sure you catch the shuttle. It runs every 3 minutes. I posted a photo of the times it runs. There are at least 2 coffee shops as we walked passed them going to appointments. The Waterfall Cafe was really pretty and seemed to have sufficient seating. There were outside balconies along the building for seating while waiting for appointments or lunch. One tip is if you have multiple appointments in a day in several buildings is just park in one garage and use the shuttle.
This is quality and excellence like nothing I have experienced. I had to wait up to an hour once to get to my next appointment by wheelchair. There was no rush or sense of urgency. I was obviously late for my appointment. An HOUR late, which had a trickle down effect and I was later and later with each poor transportation issue. I did not leave until 6:30 pm, 2 hours after my last appointment. That was Day 1. Day 2 not much better. Day 3, I put my bag and appointment papers, in the seat, and pushed it around. 👩 😆 No one bothered to ask me why, although I had a patient wrist band, and a yellow Fall Risk band. I walked about 3 miles that last day. Glad I didn't have to get up in the early morning. Good exercise is how I chose to look at it.Other than that, it would have received 5 Stars. Nurses were incredibly helpful and kind. My oncologist Dr. P. Jain is absolutely amazing, brilliant, kind and compassionate. I am grateful for the good care I have received so far. Round 2 next week.
I was asked to pick-up someone dear to me after surgery at the Mays Clinic. I was directed to Entrance 7 - on Richard Johnson Street. The recovery nurse called my cell to tell me she would be bringing the patient down in a wheelchair and I could stop at the curb while patient is loaded into my car. The ONLY PLACE to pick-up patients is also the Valet Parking area. The female attendent at the Valet told me "NO you cannot pick her up here. This area is for VALET PARKERS only." But I had nowhere else to pick up the patient - which I proceeded to do. The Valet attendent lady, while we were loading the patient into my car, had 2 male valet drivers park 2 customers' vehicles in front of me - deliberately blocking myself, my husband and the surgery patient from leaving. After waiting 5-10 minutes my husband got out and approached the valet commandant and requested that the blocking vehicles be moved as the patient was in pain. She replied "I told your wife not to keep circling and not to pick-up patient here." She was PUNISHING us by blocking us from leaving. I would NEVER go anywhere that allows such treatment by the Valet Parking Staff. Patient care includes the facilities AND patient parking and pick-up areas and EVERY aspect of what the patient experiences from 1st arrival to last. Terrible experience. The hospital has executives who are NOT aware of what goes at on the facility - or maybe do not care about the ENTIRE patient experience. Too bad. Wake-up people, you have a reputation to protect. This is why I avoid the Medical Center entirely. November 12, 2021 10:00 - 10:30 am
Long waiting lines in the lab area. Too many unscheduled guest; not enough seating to accommodate area.
The doctors and nurses listen. They are kind. They empathize authentically and they live up to their estimable reputation in every way. No one wants to be here. But I’m glad they are here for us.
Excellent, full of kindness and knowledgeable care
Always top notch in everything they do.
A family member passed away recently at the hospital. I took my parents to the hospital so my dad can sign some papers. Reception lady didn’t even want to let him in. Finally said okay you can go but my mom and I had to stay by the desk. I asked if we can please go sit down and she said no since we weren’t patients. However when a white lady could go up to visit her love one she was able to sit down. I’m not sure if it was a race thing or not. But I would never bring my love ones to this hospital

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
