Dr. Kaplan performed cataract surgery on both of my eyes a day apart from each other and everything went great. I highly recommend Dr. Kaplan! And finally his staff were all fantastic too, from check in to exit!
Idk I never been here so there is my review
Didn't listen to me and they need a phlebotomist I went in for an eye exam and the office was packed. When I was taken back there were several procedure rooms I had to go to and there was a different waiting room for each. I felt like I was in a factory. When in for my cataract surgery for the first eye they stuck me 6 times looking for a proper vein for the IV. Finally they called over the surgical nurse and she found a vein right away. Unacceptable! I was completely sedated for my first eye, not remembering anything of the surgery. For the second surgery, they had a surgical nurse attempt to place the IV. She tried, but the second flush didn't take, but left it in. When I went into the surgical room, I had to wait quite a long time on an uncomfortable flat bed. The sedation DID NOT WORK. I kept telling them that it wasn't working, and they all said it was, not believing me. I was aware of the entire procedure and was very scared. The last person wheeling me out said I wouldn't remember anything. I remember it ALL. Angry!
I had a regrowth of part of a cataract and it was blurring my vision. Dr. Caplan did a Yag Laser procedure and I can now see clearly again. Thanks, Dr. Caplan!
I've been putting off surgery for cataracts in both of my eyes for quite a while now so when a friend of mine recommended Dr. Caplan at Berkeley Eye Center, I decided to set up an appointment. This happened during Covid-19 right after they began lifting the restrictions so I was very pleased with their procedures for making sure both patient and staff were protected. I found their staff to be cheerful and helpful and I liked Dr. Caplan from the moment I met him. My appointments were on time with very little wait time. The surgery happens in a professional and normal surgical environment, complete with anesthesia. I thought Dr. Caplan was great and so was his staff. The recovery period is rather quick and just requires me to be meticulous in sticking to the schedule for drops in my eyes. I'm seeing better than ever without that veil the cataracts cause and will continue to look back on it as a very positive experience. Thanks Dr. Caplan and to your staff as well.
If you have a whole day to waste for a 15 minute procedure then this is the place for you. Check in at 9 but there is no surgery time. 30 procedures scheduled. Of course the copay is collected when you walk in so you're stuck here. I would advise anyone to think about it before you come to this miserable place. No communication. Just sit and wait.
It might be easy to slip up from time to time because Dr. Caplan and his team perform so many cataract removals. But the remarkable doc and his remarkable staff keep the process moving with painstaking care, clear communication and a gift for making patients feel like they're the day's most important visitor. Whether you enter the office, get wheeled into the prep room, are taken into surgery, then recovery, everyone who greets you is equipped with the best manners. You leave thinking you chose the best possible medical experience.
I forget what life was like with glasses. There is nothing about it that I miss! Dr Caplan did my LASIK procedure about 8 years ago. He was extremely knowledgeable and helped put me at ease. My vision has been 20/20 ever since without the need for touch ups. Thank you Dr Caplan!
It's horrible. We chose him to be our doctor that I made appointments with him, not other doctors. He saw my dad couple of times and did a few surgeries on him. After each time my dad saw him, he just kept referred him to another doctor and pushed my dad away so many times and we kept make appointments with him since we have been seeing him a long while. He's not happy to see us (maybe some discriminations going on). The last visit my dad saw him and he finally frankly was straight to my dad that he doesn't know about the eye drops and the possible surgery that my dad might need. Then asked my dad to go back to the doctor he referred the following week for treatments. What an irresponsible doctor! Very Unethical. My dad also had side effects, watery eyes, after he had operated my dad's eyes (my dad didn't have watery eyes before surgery). When he came back complaining about the watery eyes, he said it might be allergies and referred him to another doctor right away by saying that "it's just a follow-up, the other doctor can handle it, doesn't have to be him to take care of". My dad still has watery eyes until now, no cures.
I’ve been going to the Wesleyan location for many many years. I had both eyes cataracts removed by Dr Caplan. I always see Dr Garza. He is very through and extremely professional and listens to you comments and concerns. Then in optical I met w/Roni Kentner this time. She was very accommodating and extremely patient. I feel she gave me her honest options when I asked for them. She helped me through my choices and decisions making the entire experience a joy. I don’t plan to go anywhere else ever. Cathleen Moffett

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
