My daughter was recently a patient in the burn unit there, and while some of the individual staffing from what I gathered did their jobs just fine. It was clear they were rushing her out and pushing her out as fast as possible when most of both of her legs from the thighs past her knees are burnt with 2degree burns and skin grafts were mentioned. She very likely would have had a faster recovery had they actually followed through just for starters. That was removed from “the table” though rather quickly likely because insurance decided it was elective and gone are the days of doctors or nurses helping push back when hospitals like this one seem to run more like a money hungry business who under staff and try to squeeze what money you can out of every book and cranny. How pathetic its so obvious even reading through others having similar experiences… My daughter who is only 18yrs old was there all of about 24hrs before she was rushed out the door and discharged. She was even on FaceTime with me complaining to the nurse about her nausea and it was completely brushed off to the point she was sent home with absolutely nothing to help keep her from vomiting. On top of the fact she can barely walk without extend pain and even vomiting has occurred, can’t bathe besides sponge baths, keeps having extreme dizzy spells she was complaining about BEFORE BEING SHOVED OUT AS FAST AS POSSIBLE, and I wish I had been there in person when the nurse was trying to ask when her ride would there wanting to discharge her as fast as possible. She should have been kept longer for so many reasons. It’s not even a week out from when she left and she’s already running low on bandages that they said she NEEDED to have. It lasted 3 days before we’re now having to figure out where to even go and soon to buy stuff she should have been getting wrapped and treated there for longer than A DAY for how badly she is burnt from the accident age was apart of.. It’s insane she’s in such agony and was having such dizzy spells even just sitting up and she was sent home with minimal care at all that she’d be able to even be able to keep up with wrapping her wounds or at even at LEAST. The very least having your nurse who helped shove her out the door as fast as possible try to help make sure she at LEAST left with something bare basic like Zofran for her to not be even having the very real possibility of vomiting onto her bandaged wrapped burnt and still trying to heal legs that aren’t even supposed to get wet....
i love how they treat patients so well and are always caring and kind for patients. i just got home from memorial hermann houston and they did so well on my baby sister. ill be looking forward to seeing yall soon!!
Dear Dr. Santpurkar I just wanted to sincerely thank you for your prompt response regarding the medication and referral. Your quick action and support mean more to me than I can express. Over the years, you have come to my rescue so many times I’ve truly lost count. I honestly don’t know what I would do without your care and guidance. Please know that your dedication never goes unnoticed. My family and I are incredibly grateful that I have a doctor like you. Thank you once again for everything you do. I am deeply appreciative. With heartfelt gratitude, Bert Saunders
I had the WORST experience at ER Southwest location - they charged my insurance (and me) $5500 for ONE needle prick, ZERO eye contact, putting me in a chair & ignoring me / treating me differently when I requested a female nurse . . .🤬🤬🤬
Memorial Hermann-The Woodlands- Nurses, doctors and attending staff was absolutely amazing. Thank You to everyone!
I had an exceptional experience at the Memorial Hermann Emergency Room, and I’m deeply grateful for the care I received — especially considering I was visiting friends in Texas, far from home (Puerto Rico). Experiencing a sudden health emergency in an unfamiliar place can be very scary, but thanks to the incredible team at this facility, I felt safe, supported, and well cared for every step of the way. Everything started one night when I began feeling a sharp, persistent pain in my lower abdomen and back. I didn’t know what was going on, but the discomfort quickly became unbearable. Since I was visiting from Puerto Rico, I wasn’t familiar with local hospitals, but a friend took us to Memorial Hermann because of their reputation for fast, high-quality care — and that recommendation could not have been more accurate. From the moment I arrived, the front desk staff and security treated me with kindness, efficiency, and professionalism. I didn’t have to wait long before I was seen, which truly surprised me given that it was the ER. The whole process was smooth and well-organized. The physician who treated me, Dr. Mathew Rogers, MD, was absolutely outstanding. From the beginning, he showed compassion, professionalism, and clear communication. He explained everything to me patiently, from possible causes of my pain to the steps we would take to treat it. After several tests, it was confirmed that I had kidney stones. Dr. Rogers took the time to calm my fears, answer all my questions, and ensure I understood my diagnosis and treatment options. His ability to combine medical expertise with empathy made all the difference. He is clearly someone who loves his profession and respects his patients deeply. During my stay for observation, I was first cared for by the evening nurse, Jovanie Narvarte, who was like an angel. He was incredibly attentive, making sure I was comfortable, monitoring my vital signs closely, managing my pain, and offering a calming presence throughout the night. In such a vulnerable moment, Jovanie went beyond her professional duties — his human warmth truly touched me. When the shift changed, Nikolaus Alvarado, my day nurse, took over. Just like Jovanie, Nikolaus displayed exceptional dedication. He explained every medication he administered, offered helpful advice to manage the pain and recovery process, and was consistently attentive to my needs — both physical and emotional. You can tell he truly works with passion and care. His positive attitude and professionalism helped make the experience more manageable and less frightening. I also want to highlight the cleanliness of the facility, the organization of the staff, and the overall feeling of safety throughout the hospital. It was clear that everyone followed strict protocols and that the team was well-trained and in constant communication with one another to ensure the best possible care. In short, although it was a painful and unexpected health situation, I am incredibly grateful I was treated at Memorial Hermann. Dr. Mathew Rogers, Jovanie Narvarte, and Nikolaus Alvarado provided not only top-quality medical care but also treated me with warmth, respect, and compassion. If you ever find yourself in Texas in need of emergency medical attention, don’t think twice — this is a hospital you can trust completely. Thank you to the entire team for your dedication and for turning a difficult experience into one filled with deep appreciation. Sincerely, A grateful visitor from Puerto Rico
I have colonoscopy screening on may 22 , for colonoscopy and polyps removal hospital charged my insurance 22000 dollars….doctor charged separately for same colonoscopy 1700 dollars and pathology charged for polyps check 900 dollars. Funny bill explanation ekg 950 dollars, recovery room 30 minutes 1700 dollars, polyps removal 9000 dollars ( who remove polyps ,hospital or doctor….double charges) Same situation with pathology, double charges, hospital charges 2700 and pathology for 900. I can’t believe developed country like USA allows hospitals to charge extremely high prices for basic services. And before I have procedure I asked my colonoscopy doctor nurse how much is procedure without insurance and she told me about 2800 dollars. Finally my responsibility with insurance is 3200 dollars. I contacted customer service and disputed bill, representative said hospital needs 24 to 48 hours to check bill and made corrections but nobody never called me or send me email with decision….Hospital and service and personal is great but price is out of control….I think working people with insurance pay triple price and cover all free service given to people without insurance and income…
A recent experience of a family member with memorial hermann Katy leaves much to be desired. Employees sleeping on the job, doctors who can’t do simple math, nurses and staff taking a long time to respond to call buttons if they ever do, and requiring someone to return to the ER instead of issuing a simple prescription refill paints a pretty strong picture of negligence, incompetence and possibly even insurance fraud. I realize the fraud thing is pretty serious, but in this case I personally find it very suspicious that the hospital is issuing prescriptions that last just long enough to get a patient to the weekend, when there are no other options apart from the emergency room, doctors are unavailable to be contacted for refills even during the week, and thus this compels the patient into a second ER visit that is completely unnecessary. Watch these guys and check prescription counts to make sure you aren’t going to be stranded on the weekend and forced to spend yet more money and make yet more insurance claims. And yes, I spoke to a hospital staff member who assured me that the only path forward for my family member was a second ER visit and no other resolution was possible.
Memorial Herman Imaging Center- Upper Kirby …..From the moment I arrived, I was met with professionalism, compassion and a clear sense of calmness that helped eased my nerves. The tech, Hajra Kahn, was so incredibly skilled and gentle, making the procedure as comfortable as possible. When Dr. Mallery arrived she took the time to explain the procedure thoroughly. I felt informed and at ease every step of the way. Their expertise was evident, and I truly knew I was in excellent hands. They answered all of my questions and shared valuable information that I didn't realize I needed! Thank you again for making it a great day, even under the circumstances!!!
Medical care provided is wonderful, and it's especially good to see so many people of different ethnicities and backgrounds working together to provide it. No one really wants to go to hospitals for surgery, but MH's collective and respective staff provides excellent care accompanied by both professionalism and kindness. Their pathology department, "patient advocates" and general administration are another story. It's almost impossible to get the most basic questions answered, no timelines are provided for when test results will be available, no one seems to know which department handles what - it's impossible to get straight answers about anything from these guys, although they may say they think or feel something will be ready by a certain point - but it won't be. Calling there just to find out when test results can be expected - not even the results themselves - causes meltdowns by people who can't or won't do their jobs. Most test results will come from the pathology department, but they consider themselves too important to speak to the patients/patient's families, etc. who pay the insurance premiums that fund their livelihoods. Hospital employees handling patient inquiries will blow up emails for doctors that don't even work there, transfer calls to departments that aren't involved in any way, promise to return the client's call but not do so, etc. The blame for all this is whoever set up the chaotic administrative departments, and whoever has allowed it to continue.
