During a coloscopy, my biopsy revealed a rare but dangerous infection of Cytomegalovirus (CMV.). This is a virus that can only be treated by continuous IV administration of Ganciclovir over 3-4 weeks, I was referred by my gastro to Dr Vartivarian, whom I found to be knowledgeable, meticulous, and attentive to my case. He went out of way, to make sure everything was done right by the support staff. The Pharmacy nurse Christine, and the lead IV nurse Emma were also excellent. I felt safe under their care, and am pleased to report that the CMV infection has been suppressed after 4 weeks of treatment. I no longer have to carry around the medicine pump with a catheter up my arm.. Recommend him very highly.

Dr. Vartivarian is the most amazing doctor. He is the most knowledgeable and caring individual. Truly attentive to your needs and sensitive to what you are going through. There is no other doctor like him!

The doctor is great however the office is terrible. This is an infectious disease office. However they don't treat it as one. This office is disgusting, unkept and unsanitary. Our nurse did all her work with putting gloves on.

I was referred to this doctor last week for home administered IV Antibiotics after catching a very nasty in my left knee. I had a PICC line stitched into my arm so that IV Antibiotics could get into my system much quicker. The line is in close proximity to my heart, and I was warned that when administering the IV Antibiotics that everything used had to be 100% sterile. The young lady at the Heart Center described the environment as needing to be operating room clean. You cannot get the area wet and dressings need changed weekly. This can be intimidating. When I arrived at Memorial Hermann Southwest, my wife and I proceeded to the 7th floor to Metro ID. When the elevator doors opened we both were surprised to exit out into a floor that appeared to have been abandoned by all signs of life. Both human, viral and bacterial. This was definitely an old section of the hospital , in much need of remodeling and repairs. We proceeded to find the suite # for Metro ID and upon finding it was appalled at the deteriorating conditions and old dirty out dated furnishings, crooked hanging art work, and trash laying out, in the presence of other patients. Keep in mind this is during COVID19. This was my first visit and I was picking up my medications ( IV). I was called back and before making a mad dash out of this disgusting hole in the wall, I found myself following a pregnant employee back into the back, navigating junk cluttered hallways to a small area with recliners in the back. The area was tiny, and other staff were tending to other patients. The walls were filthy, trash overflowing and directly infront of me was a blood /lab station where blood was spun. Bio bags contained tubes of blood from other patients, and laying in the floor beneath a very large females chair was the samples belonging to some poor unfortunate patient. Staff were stepping over each other, patients were being treated, dressings changed, medical history discussed in front of other patients. At least one of the nurses seemed really annoyed with her working conditions. I felt so sorry for her. When they started showing me how to hook meds up to my lines, then flush each port then apply blood thinner, my nurse kept informing how dangerous having PICC LINES can be if exposed to un-sterile dirty environments. You must wash your hands, sanitizer must be used, and alcohol pad used to clean ports. As I'm listening I notice my supplies laying on a small desk amoung food wrappers, and a round rubber squishy ball with a line attached to it. It was the iv that was taken off the patient before me. Attached was a label bearing the patients name DOB and name of antibiotic. At one point I had to get up and walk into another room while a large female patient exited the room she was sharing with me and others. I knew from this point on that if this infection didn't get me, that the dirty un-sterile conditions of this office would would! How does a hospital favor business with a provider that treats infectious diseases, when his office is 3 times more likely to cause an infectious disease than a diseased riddled dog bite or crazy insect from some third world country! And the office space belongs to Memorial Herrmann, who can safely be called SLUM LORDS! I think I need to have an under cover reporter go in on this place! AND QUICK!

Even though we had to wait almost an hour and a half to be seen and we were there promptly on time for our appointment, Dr. Vartivarian went patiently and carefully over All the health history and communicated with the doctor that sent us there as an emergency patient in order to give us the best diagnose and treatment. There is a minus in here and that was the nurse that took the blood went in digging and turning the needle once in the arm in all directions, something that caused great pain. Being a hospital/clinic they definitely need better cleaning personnel for these offices. Again, Dr. Varivarian was most attentive to our needs, I will have to give him five stars!

Dr. Vartivarian is an exceptional Doctor. He has become my brother's greatest advocate which s something that not even his primary doctor provides. If we have a problem question with any of my brother's other doctors, Dr. Vartivarian immediately gets on the phone and get us an answer. He is truly a TEN star doctor and would highly recommend him to anyone. His staff is also professional and caring. So glad to have someone who truly cares about his patient!!

Dr. V treated me for a very dangerous infectious disease. He and his staff were the most caring people. His professional experience brought healing and I am so grateful to him.
