Thriveworks Counseling & Psychiatry Houston's Online Review Report Card

I am VERY dissatisfied with the service I have been receiving from thriveworks . I have an amazing therapist, however I am a veteran and ANY business accepting clients through the Veterans Affairs should know how the billing process works. I have been having sessions with thriveworks since Feb 2024, and have been having billing issues ever since. They continue to put me on self pay, NOBODY who works on their phones know how the VA works . I’ve had the Community Health Workers and Thriveworks all on the phone at the same time MULTIPLE times to have this situation resolved, and every time I am told the issue is resolved just to get a text the next day that my payment wasn’t processed and that there is issues with my insurance. I’m SO frustrated because how many times do I have to explain that the Veterans Affairs is not an insurance company. They have provided all of the information to thriveworks multiple times in order for my sessions to be covered. What I don’t understand is why are yall accepting clients from the Veterans Affairs without training your employers on how the claims process works? I’ve literally waisted so much time on calling these people just to have nothing resolved. I’m so unhappy ! There is never a manager or supervisor available and after reading reviews online on this company , now I see why I should have never agreed to be seen through these people. Their employers are unorganized and incompetent. I would never recommend this company.

I give this 1 star due to the billing within Thriveworks. The policy to cancel within 48 hours seems to only work one way. My daughter's therapist would text her for scheduling. It did not follow the schedule they had originally set and multiple times my daughter would be waiting for the zoom call to start and he would text that he had to cancel. She would schedule work and studying around these appointments just for him to cancel as she was waiting for appointments to start and then I would be charged as if they had an appointment. We had to call so many times to get charges refunded back to us. Finally my daughter starts a new job where she is unable to do week day appointments and texts the therapist to let him know on a Sunday that she cannot do the Tuesday appointment and would just like to cancel the sessions all together. Guess who got a charged a cancellation fee, we did, for $135 and they will not refund us this time. This is very frustrating and not a good way to conduct business. We can't even trust finding a new therapist through Thriveworks because the billing is horrific to deal with.

Timely appointments and caring professional employees is the reason I keep coming back for my therapy.

They can't handle people who have real bar mental heath issues they won't proscribe meds to people who have high mental health issues don't go thru this company

Caroline Byrd is amazing, my first session with her was so amazing. She was so attentive and patient. She listened to me, she asked me questions that made me think and assess my life. When I left out her office I was light as a feather. I felt like a tone of bricks had been lifted off my shoulders.

Provider was great, however the scheduler verified my insurance as participating but failed to check to see if my therapist was also participating with my insurance. Long story short, it resulted in an “out of network” payment at a much higher cost to me. Beware and make sure you do you homework before scheduling. They really dropped the ball on this. It is still being resolved with Anthem.

I had a wonderful experience with Alejandra Galindo. I found her very patient and easy to talk too, which made all the difference for me after having bounced off of a few therapists before. She challenged me in ways that made me feel like I was growing and still safe at the same time. Can't recommend her enough!

My experience for my first visit with Sherman Murphy was great.. I will definitely go back and I booked my second appointment asap

The therapists are wonderful and take pride in their special work that they do. They are caring and flexible.
