Whole Health Center Houston: Dr Valeska Wells's Online Review Report Card

I have been working with Whole Health Houston for about a year now. They have ran tests and found things that no other doctors bothered to look for. They always have great advice and the entire team is some of the kindest people I’ve met. I feel so blessed that I have the opportunity to go here for my health.

Just from the office experience itself, the receptionists were unprofessional with time management. We had an appointment at scheduled 8 am. We waited that whole time and they opened the doors at 8:45 for me after we texted upon our arrival. The ladies were non-apologetic and disrespectful about this occurrence. After we had finally been let in, we were notified that we were put on a waitlist because they receptionist didn’t process our insurance, didn’t call us to confirm, and just acted like nothing came in; rude. We were very displeased with the experience with the office etiquette. Despite our first encounter, Dr. Wells was very apologetic and immediately got the ball rolling with my information. Will keep an updated with the aftermath.

I wanted to see Dr. Wells because I needed some testing and an increase in medication...which was killing my infection. I ended up with her PA. On my second visit, PA Megan Runge, asked about my progress. She granted my first visit request for a higher dose. I told her the medication gave me a sense of wellness that I hadn't felt in over 10 years and it had been working great. She didn't seem happy about my success. Why? It cost over 4K for the first 2 doctor visits (testing and $500 in supplements included). The money isn't an issue but maybe she anticipated a longer, more costly illness? FYI, I waited 1 hr. 55 min for the first appt. and 45 minutes on the second...in an empty office. Then, with seemingly little confidence or experience, PA. Megan Runge told me she needed to STOP my prescription and she cautioned me that we would alternate it with natural supplements (which Whole Health conveniently sells). She claims my infection might become resistant. I told her I've been alternating natural remedies (very similar to what we discussed) for 7 years and I've had some success but I need something stronger to kill it. I asked her to increase my dose so I would have a chance. My 10 year-long disease might end...before it spurs MS (which has been linked to long term candida/fungal infections). She wouldn't agree to increase my medication (to fight what I have) but she assured me that if I get MS then she has good treatments to offer. What?! I found it hard to fathom such a reply. I later did some research and none of my candida infections are listed as being resistant to my working medication. I also requested a fungal test, 3 times, on my first visit. Megan didn't order it. I called the office twice and requested the test be ordered. Was Megan stringing me along for more doctor visits? She also ordered tests I told her I didn't need (like vitamin D). They make money on all these tests. She fumbled three prescriptions. On one, their compound pharmacy called to tell me she wrote such a high dose that they couldn't fill it until they got it corrected. I only mention this to illuminate her inexperience. It felt like the focus was on keeping me spending...not heal my illness. Dr. Wells never returned my phone message on the medication issues. I've made an appointment with an experienced doctor and I did try to go off the medication (for a few weeks) to see if Megan's plan would work. My infection started coming back in spades. I hope she hasn't caused this infection to become stronger and proliferate more aggressively because she refused to prescribe the only medication that was actually killing my infection...not hold it back. This place is not about the patient but about the money, doctor and her family...as evidenced by selling everything from the paintings on the walls (inspired by her children), the supplement store, the workers waiting for you to come out of your appointment so they can escort you to buy your supplements, to the small used car type sales room...where you wait to pay the $1,200 (first visit fee) up front. I feel Whole Health is no longer about healing the patient but raking in the cash...to pay for their extravagant building etc...I met Dr. Wells in 2014. She was just beginning with Dr. Manso. She's a compassionate Dr. I also loved Dr. Manso. It's sad to see the direction this center is going and it's a shame. I wish them well but I must wish such wellness on myself...after a long struggle with a painful condition and now I'm finally getting better...until Dr. Runge decided...not so fast. My struggle began after doctors gave me antibiotics instead of treating a fungal infection and Dr. Wells was one who put me on antibiotics. I don't blame her since she was new and we didn't know what I had. But now, I have hundreds of hours in reading and I probably know as much or more about candida overload. The testing proves that my infection is real...along with other health problems that Megan didn't address because she wasn't prepared to go over my test results. She spent our office visit looking up results on the web and then she took a more important phone call and left the room. I've never had a doctor answer their phone, during an exam, and ask me if they can leave. This is so unprofessional. I went home and researched the test results on my own. If a boutique Dr. experience, with a Capaccino machine, vitamin shots, expensive tests and their supplements is what you need then this is for you. But if you're sick and need an experienced doctor, who is worth this price, then I don't recommend Megan Runge. I'm all for natural healing and treatment. But not for an inexperienced, unsure PA, who doesn't research test results, is OK with me getting MS and who seems more concerned with lining her pockets...(maybe to pay student loan debts?) It was a $4,000 lesson. I feel there will be better care with an experienced doctor...who cares more about my healing than my money. Do no harm.

So far my experience here has been amazing! Right when I step in every one is so accommodating, sweet, and informative. I truly feel like I am in such great hands here and I am so excited to continue my health journey here! So grateful I found such a wonder health center such as this. Dr. Cowne is AMAZING, and informative. Michelle is the sweetest!

Dr. Wells has been overseeing the care of my family for 7 years. I would not have any other Dr the foundation of my families care. You will search hard, and still likely not find a gem like WHC. Dr. W is meticulous, patient, and so deeply empathetic. She works arduously to find the root, every appointment I return (often) her knowledge grows so much! I have NEVER had a dr. so passionate to find a cause. I usually feel like I’m supposed to be in awe, or at the mercy of the Dr when I have gone to different specialists. Like I should be lucky they are seeing me, then they rush off quickly before really hearing me out. And SO often they already have most people pre-diagnosed before they walk in. It leaves me wondering if they heard ANYTHING I said. (SO ANNOYING) Not this Dr, no friggin’ way y’all. She makes you feel treasured, she values not only your time. She values your life, and your wellbeing. It’s like it’s her pleasure to serve and minister to your needs and your body.(Think if Chick-Fil-A had a drs office) As if she is the one who is grateful your allowing her to take care of you. When was the last time your Dr had the humility to come personally (when available) to come get you from the waiting area, and escort you around her office. Or wave to you/slide in a hug when she hasn’t seen you in a while because your there for another reason. ..After suffering extreme medical abuse from a nutso Dr in another State. I was left so traumatized I couldn’t barely stand looking at a IV line, and eventually had to have my Port implant removed from the anxiety and panic using it caused. But not only did this clinic help heal some of the damage the overuse of meds that previous dr used. But y’all they healed, and ministered my heart. The nurses so sweetly loved on me, DrWells was so attentive. I still have occasional anxiety in medical settings 4 years later. But I noticed the other day getting an IV for a adverse reaction the I was so at peace there. I was so at home, and although not feeling well. I felt safe. I have gone to and seen many drs. I would never use the word safe to describe how I feel there. I feel on guard not knowing if they are taking my whole condition (complex would be a fair word to describe it)in to account. No one could understand what is means to me to have these people. They are my family. So if you are willing to invest in this place. Know your return will be astronomical. You will gain more than your health, you will gain family for life. You will be enriched as a person. Just being there will add to your character. I just want to have these people over to my house for dinner! So down to earth, but also so professional and beyond capable of doing their jobs. SO much love in my families hearts for these people, and the many times they saved my life. (Literally) Just stop reading this and schedule the appointment already..

I am an optometrist ( OD ) but Dr. Valeska Wells is a (DO) ( doctor of osteopathy ) plus she has completed a specialized residency based certification in integrative medicine. I have not been to any other doctor who has such credentials or has been so capable of offering effective Alternative Care for my various health issues. I know that she was at the top of her class in all of her education because I helped the pay for part of it. You see, I know my daughter very well and she will work tirelessly to help you resolve your health issues in the least invasive or destructive and most healing manner possible. My family & i have been doing business with the Whole Health Center for 26 years and my wife & kids recently visited Dr Weils. I called Angela to schedule a simple IV like i had had many times in the past. She said since i had not been there in 3 years that she would have to bring me in as a new patient at a cost of $1600.00 dollars. How sad to see a once great practice run my family off in pursuit of the BIG DOLLAR.

I have been going to Dr Wells since she began working at Whole Health. I have seen her practice grow in expertise, integrity, compassion and professionalism. She is the calm in a storm and a rock when weary. Her whole team works together for the good of their clients. I trust them with my health and my heart. Currently being treated for cancer by Dr. Wells. She diagnosed and still works with me to fight. Protocols to fight it all the way to remission. Another Dr sent me home after surgery and wanted me to come back every 3 months for imaging. Whole Health is their mission. I am feeling wonderful and still fighting!

Everything about my visits is wonderful. The office staff are personable & friendly. They are always eager to help me understand the information I need to know (billing, codes, etc). Dr Wells is amazing. I love her calm presence but most of all how she takes the time to listen and help me determine what’s really going on with my health instead of settling with the first or quick answer; she looks deeper. I never feel rushed or like an after thought. It’s a great place to go if you’re looking for a good doctor.
