I got a bad feeling when I went into the office and I should have listined to my gut! Appointment was quick, and she put me straight on thyroid medication without any diet change. I had a horrible reaction to the medcation after 3 days which almost resulted in hospitilzation. I called the emergency line, where the on call nurse told me to stop taking the medication and my doctor would call me. It has been 4 days and no phone call or follow up from the facility or doctor. I had to call and leave a very stern message inorder to get their attention. This is a medical practice, I should not have to self advocate to get their attention. My reactions were so severe and she does not seem to care I will be switching doctors where I am not just a paycheck.

Dr. Akhunji is the epitome of the modern MD. She's extremely engaging and is an active listener. She doesn't believe in one size fits all, she talks over options where options are available. She gives you the time that you need to have all your questions answered and I never feel as if I am being rushed. Her warmth and her attention to you is worth the time it takes to get an appointment with her. I highly recommend Dr. Akhunji.

Dr. Akhunji has been amazing! She takes the time to listen and thoroughly answers all questions. She does not give you the feeling of being herded in and out. She has helped my diabetic husband immensely. We were devastated when we lost her due to her moving to a different practice. Dr. Akhunji is amazing and personable, she cares and relates to me well. She has great advice and ideas on how to stay healthy and maintain my weight. She has addressed all my issues and helped me get stable with my condition. I would recommend her to anyone in need of a great, caring and knowledgeable doctor.

Dr. Akhunji may be a good doctor, but her total lack of communication after I left the office was something I'd never experienced with a doctor. I used the lab there for some tests she wanted to do, and I asked for her to write me a prescription, which she said she would do. After a week, I began calling and leaving messages. Over the next month I left 10 messages, one of which was returned by her asst - I barely missed picking up, called right back, and got another message machine. She never called back. No lab results, no prescription sent. How can a doctor's office (AZ Endocrinology) operate this way and expect to have any return customers? After over a month, I decided to just go there. The receptionist told me there was no way to change the situation of no return calls. She said I should just call after 9:30 AM. Which is what I had done every time -- She gave me a copy of my lab results without even checking my ID or verifying who I was. What a ridiculous place!

Dr. Akhunji is not only compassionate, she actually takes the time to listens to you and will work with you on finding the right medication, or therapy that works best for you.

Such a knowledgeable and yet personable doctor! Caring and compassionate. Dr Akhunji listens and advises without being pushy about treatment. three of my family members now go to her. We all love her!!
