List of Shailaja Behara's Reviews
I had a preventative procedure and I was billed with a diagnostic procedure and I had to pay nearly $600 out of pocket. I am having difficulty contacting the office and staff was not accommodating. I did not have this problem with the same procedure 5 yrs ago, with a different doctor.
Dr. Behara missed the fact the ulcer she was treating was a Cameron ulcer. Less than a month later I was in the hospital having a 12 hour operation and a stay in ICU.
Went to see the doctor about a year ago. Was seen by the nurse did a lot of exams and nothing came out of it. However, the invoices kept coming and we called to pay several times. Bad financial system and complete waste of money. Advise to not go.
It has been about five or six years since I first went to see Dr Behara and had a colonoscopy and lab tests. I found her and her staff to be friendly and helpful. I have other health challenges but I was well served by her care. I would recommend her to both friends and family!
Horrible experience. Call doctor office several times. My family a d I have not received any update or return phone calls from Dr. Behara. This is unacceptable when you are not able to see your love one in the hospital or know exactly what the outcome of the procedure entailed. Our first initial office visit was with her nurse practitioner. We should have been seen by her not a nurse practitioner. Totally disappointed with overall quality of care. We will definitely not recommend her to anyone.
My dad has been seeing her for almost a year with hemorrhoids. She would only suggest suppositories and cream. With no solution to his problem he was finally recommended a colon rectal surgeon by her. The same day he saw new doctor he was advised he needed surgery asap. In other words he wasted almost a year with this doctor in which she could’ve recommended him to specialist a long time ago. Horrible experience for my dad. Would def not recommend.
My husband went to this Dr that had performed colonoscopies and endoscopes on him previously. He was having abdominal pains and was trying to get to the bottom of his issues. He’d had an mri of his liver showing many tumors and one really large one 10cm. There had been no diagnosis of cancer so he was wanting to know what his issues were. The Dr saw the MRI and ordered an abdominal ct scan. Before getting the results from that she immediately scheduled a colonoscopy and endoscopy. I asked my husband if he should be doing that as he had lost a lot of weight and was very weak. He had faith in her. The procedure went well with one polyp removed. The following week he could do nothing but lay in bed and was in pain and not eating much. I called the office and spoke to the nurse practitioner she was cold and short and told me that he needed to see an oncologist. Why? Had they seen something in the Ct Scan? We were not given results from that even though we requested a copy be sent to the house. We never received it. The Dr did confirm that there was no cancer seen in the procedure. And would discuss the ct scan results at the 2 week checkup. Well things got worst and his liver ruptured and he died within 24 hrs. I went to the office afterwards and asked to get the results from the Dr of the Ct scan or at least just let me know if she had seen something to indicate there was an immediate issue/danger. Never got a call back!!!! Can you believe the cold callous behavior or this Dr? I believe that she should not have jumped to doing her procedures in his condition. Makes me think she just wanted to get paid for another procedure. I would never have a colonoscopy. Don’t listen to Drs when you know your body better! BEWARE!
When I first went to this doctor I thought she was knowledgeable on my rare condition, but unfortunately she does not seem to care or listen to any of my other issues. Her solution to a long list of symptoms Im having for which she would treat is to “lose weight it’ll help”. There is no try this medicine, let’s do some tests, let’s check with an endoscopy or colonoscopy. It’s “how are you doing?” I give the same issues then it’s the whole lose weight comment for which I am and the symptoms are worsening, then she asks do I need prescription refills, lightly pushes on my top stomach and shuffles me out of there. I am in there for less than 5 mins once she walks into the room. There is no in-depth conversation about trying to find out what’s causing these issues. I will say one thing good, her new doctors assistant/nurse practitioner is amazing. She listens and try’s to help. Behara is good for medical procedures, never an issue there but as a care provider for in office she’s horrible.
No way! Very unprofessional.
I have been a patient for about 5 years. I will not continue to be so. I have had procedures with her in the past and it was OK but several months ago my primary doctor referred me back to her and sent her a note requesting certain considerations due to the fact that my platelets are very low. Dr Behara looked at the note and handed it right back to me and stated I needed to schedule a colonoscopy. Her staff failed to send the request for clearance to my hematologist 3 times. I had to cancel the procedure, they never checked to see if they had the necessary clearance. I finally asked my hematologist on my next visit if I could be cleared for the colonoscopy. Because my platelets had dropped again he would not give the clearance and ordered a bone marrow biopsy. I was then diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndromes & Myelofibrosis. My primary then herself ordered a Cologuard which came back positive. My hematologist said he would give clearance if Dr Bahara would call him to discuss the low platelets. When I went back to see her and request that she call him so that we could schedule the procedure she refused to call him and said to schedule it, she would fax the request. They never did but after the positive result on the Cologuard he gave me the clearance. The morning of the procedure she was late and seemed very hurried when she arrived. She did several biopsies. After I was released, on my way home I had some bleeding so I returned to the hospital to report it. She was doing another procedure and told the nurse to tell me to go home and rest. Some bleeding was to be expected. She said if it didn't get better to call her office or go to the ER. I went home and started having severe chills and my blood pressure went up to 173/89, I had a 100* temperature so I called her office. The nurse told me she said to stay in bed and drink lots of liquids. She only seems to want to schedule procedures. She fails to pay any attention to your medical history or any special conditions you may have. She will no longer be my doctor.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
