I have been a nurse for 40 plus years and when o had RUQ abdominal pain and nausea post cholecystectomy, I knew I needed an EUS and ERCP. I went to Texas Health Rockwall, where I was given IV antibiotics and fluids but they didn’t have a physician to do the tests needed. I asked to be transferred and was transferred to Texas Health Plano where Dr Burdick was on call. Although it was a Saturday, he did the procedure that day! By the next day, I was pain free! It was God’s providence that got me to Dr Burdick-he has achieved awards from the AGI, which few MD’s have. Cannulating my bile duct was difficult as the duct was tight and a less skilled physician may not have been able to do it! His PA said that people come from all over the country to see him! He was truly a blessing to me!
Dr. Burdick is one of the best doctors I’ve met – thorough, kind, and genuinely dedicated to patient care.
Urgent Concern Regarding Patient Care and Professionalism Dear Dr. Burdick, I am writing to express my serious concerns regarding the treatment I received from your office, which I believe reflects a lack of professionalism and care for patients. I was referred to your practice by Dr. Hassan Ahmed for a complex condition, Celiac Artery Compression. Dr. Ahmed promptly sent my referral on Monday following our appointment, and advised that I should expect a call by Wednesday. When I had not received a call by then, I contacted Dr. Ahmed's office, where I was informed that they had received my referral but were unsure why I had not been contacted. Subsequently, I was provided with your office's contact information. I called your office around noon but I believe it was lunch time. I then called back around 1:30pm and spoke with Naomi, explaining my situation and the urgency of scheduling a Celiac artery block. She informed me that the referral had only been received that day (Thursday), four days after my initial appointment. She explained that it would be another 1-2 weeks before being able to schedule me in. When I explained that I could not afford to wait 1-2 weeks for the procedure due to potential surgery plans and insurance deadlines, Naomi abruptly interrupted me, demanding "you can calm down before with continue" and promptly hung up on me. I was neither yelling nor disrespectful, yet I was treated with blatant disregard. I do admit I was frustrated and eager to have my appointment scheduled. Following this, I attempted to call back multiple times, but my calls went unanswered. In frustration, I turned off my caller ID and attempted again, only to be met by Naomi. I asked to speak with an office manager, and she claimed to be the one in charge. However, given the circumstances, I highly question her response and ability to manage the office effectively. This treatment is unacceptable, particularly in a medical setting where patients' well-being is the priority. Regardless of how a patient may express concern or urgency, no one should ever be interrupted or dismissed, let alone have their calls ignored. The behavior exhibited by Naomi demonstrates a clear lack of care, professionalism, and empathy, which is particularly concerning given the seriousness of my condition and the referral from a trusted physician. As someone who has worked in the medical field as a medical office assistant, I find this lack of professionalism deeply troubling. Patients deserve to be treated with respect, and their concerns should always be taken seriously. I am shocked by the behavior I encountered and, as a result, no longer feel comfortable trusting your office with my care. I strongly urge you to evaluate your office’s operations, especially the conduct of your staff. A medical practice is a "people business," and patient care must always come first. I hope you take these concerns seriously and consider making the necessary improvements for the sake of your patients. Sincerely, Bailey Patton
Was very impressed with Dr. Burdick’s level of care. Very humble bedside manner. Explains thoroughly making the patient feel significantly important in the prescribed treatment. Highly recommend him.
Did an esophagus dilation for my 94 yr old mother. She's doing fine. Thank you.
Dr. J.S. Burdick ( Best GI Doctor in the World) Of course I wasn't there to see Dr. Burdick actions or behavior. However, this person couldn't be more more wrong on how professionalize he demonstrates as a person & doctor. This person must have being having a super bad day. All of his other reviews are countless stories of miracles he has done to save lives. Just like mine. Best GI doctor in the WORLD.
2/7/2018 he put in a J tube for me. A week later I had to have emergency surgery because he screwed up. I was in the hospital a month. I died twice. I still have extreme pain from the stoma. He put it in the wrong place because when I eat drink food immediately comes out of the stoma. I have to take Nalbuphine shots to take the edge off the extreme pain Have been advised to have surgery to move it at a different spot. Will have to be in hospital a month because it will require 2 surgeries I am 5'10 and got down to 96 pounds in hospital and cannot gain more than 117 pounds. Which he would fix his problem he caused. He didn't tie down things like he was supposed to. I caught 6 infections while in hospital Dr. Angier in Texarkana saved my life.
Got My Life Back After being misdiagnosed for years, I finally found a doctor that truly cared and was determined to get me well. I was about to give up as I was in pain all day, every day, despite the heavy dose of narcotics. Dr. Burdick properly diagnosed me with chronic pancreatitis. I had an enormous amount of stones. We quickly developed a unique plan to improve my condition. Dr Burdick is a brilliant man who takes great pride in his work. A few months later, and after a couple of procedures, I was feeling much better. I couldn’t be,iced it. We worked together, I continued to improve, and was able to get off all pain medication! Dr. Burdick gave me my life back and I am very grateful.
It saddens me to write this as Dr Burdick is an awesome dr and very smart. Hes been my Dr since 2014/15. But his office staff Noemi Salazar and Melissa Csatano who claimed to be a nurse (edited as it is unclear which Melissa Casanto works here) are the most unprofessional people and the reason that all of the complaints exist here. I was very patient when it took a year to get my procedure even scheduled, i was patient and understanding when things took a long time. I started to get anxious when i didn't receive instructions for my procedure this friday and no one would call me back when i got sick. When i finally asked for instructions, i got them less than a week from my procedure and they were basic instructions. They were not what me and dr burdick went over in a telehealth, however i couldn't remember our specific instructions. (As our telehealth was in september.... it is now almost December) I asked to clarify what my specific instructions were and got the most unprofessional email from Noemi. Condescending tone saying i should know what was said in the telehealth (from sep... its December... and she expects me to remember word for word a phone call from 4 months ago? and they dont even use a system like mychart that we can go back and read notes? Noemi do you think people have nothing to do or dont have stress or problems within 4 months time? Even Jason knew i was helping take care of my brother with scleroderma who has been in and out of the hospital), she said that i should know better, this is not my first procedure and that what we talked about is in the instructions (it was not. those were the blanket instructions not tailored by case). I was scolded in her email and emailed back that i will not be talked to in this way and it was uncalled for. Then Melissa called and asked about one thing i wanted to clarify and when i went to clarify the other things she goes and i quote "i dont wanna hear it i dont care just talk to dr burdick tomorrow" i told her NO YOU LISTEN TO ME STOP IT! NO MAAM and she mocks me and goes "nooo maaaaaam" and i yelled SHUT UP AND LISTEN THIS IS RIDICULOUS! and she hangs up. Because of this i called medical city crying saying even tho i need this procedure as im in pain and having issues, (and because yes this isnt my first procedure) i do not think i can proceed safely without my questions being clarified and concerns being addressed as well as not wanting to show up and waste everyone's time if the procedure could not be done. I then explained my story. The woman i talked to named Pam (i believe) said she completely understood. Now im in the position of trying to find someone else to do a g-poem and my block. Ive been sick the last 2 weeks badly. I was in nursing before I was diagnosed in 2014, this is unacceptable and unprofessional. Not only was the behavior unacceptable but this is also involving patient safety and well being. The sad thing is I dont want to leave Dr Burdick as he is a great Dr. But to get anything done you have to go through Noemi and Melissa is obviously friends with her. Nothing can get done with that office staff. When jessica and even jason was there, it was no problem getting stuff done and questions answered. I have all the screen shots of these emails Noemi sent that i want to send to someone higher up or dr burdick himself, i also want to report Melissa (again edited until I am sure which Melissa Casanto works here) because it is a huge violation in patient ethics and autonomy and if this was a patient who did not have the medical knowledge it could be a patient safety issue (i hope that phone call was recorded). This office needs a full clean out and hire people who actually care about what they are doing and the patients they are serving. They are causing Dr Burdick to lose some of his long time patients. Also btw, Noemi, Melissa, you may want to pray and hope i dont end up in an ER right now. You dont want to know or talk to my parents. 2 stars because Dr Burdick is (10) stars Office is (-24) stars
HORRIBLE The phone is not answered - it goes straight to voicemail. Been trying to set up an appointment for 1.5 weeks. Received 1 callback from the 10-12 messages we left.
