List of Steven Hoffman Md's Reviews
Dr. Hoffman and his staff are awesome! He use to be my doctor 10 years ago when I first started college. I returned today after my doctor retired. His new office is great and there has been so many improvements! He listened to my problems and rendered everything necessary to solve the problem. He’s just as good as he was 10 years ago. Nowadays it’s hard to find a good doctor with availability. His office staff were very organized, warm and polite. My visit was smooth. Dr. Hoffman cares about your health and serves his patients well. I’m happy to be back and I know I’m in good hands.
He will do Birth business by moving you to Cesarian(C-section), own risk of joining.
Extremely rude and condescending. My appointment with him was rather traumatizing
This evil "doctor" will take your money and then refuse to deliver your baby if you are not injected with an experimental drug. Lawsuit incoming.
Dr. Hoffman has been my OB/GYN for almost 20 years. When my husband and I were moving to the area, I asked my old doc to recommend someone in DFW and he recommended Dr. Hoffman as they had gone to medical school together. My husband and I instantly loved Dr. Hoffman and how thorough he was with my pregnancies and any other issues I had. A common saying in our house was “A few more tests but that’s Dr. Hoffman” My husband was almost proud that we had such an attentive OB looking after his wife and child, Dr. Hoffman definitely has our trust. I always felt he genuinely cared about me and my babies and never felt rushed or dismissed. Dr. Hoffman delivered 4 out of my 5 children and the 3 of those being higher risk. Even though we didn’t live in Irving anymore, we wouldn’t have trusted another OB to deliver them. After my tubal, I was just going to my PCP for paps (because she’s closer) but after turning 40, some hormonal issues turned up. My PCP stated she would feel better if I saw a GYN and it was a no brainer to call Dr. Hoffman. He literally welcomed my husband and I back with opened arms and I am making the trip to Irving once again because Dr. Hoffman is worth it. I have years of experience as a medical assistant, so I also know how a medical practice should be run by staff. I have never been treated anything but nice and professional by Dr Hoffman’s staff, both old and new. He has had many people stay with him for YEARS and I think that’s a testament to how he treats people, not just his patients. Not every doctor is a right fit for someone which is why we interviewed Dr. Hoffman before we even became pregnant with our second child. And we’re forever glad we did.
Dr. Hoffman did not listen to me about my health concerns with my fibroids. I was his patient for more than 15 years and trusted him. I saw another OBGYN in his practice and the first time she saw me she diagnosed the problem. I went and got a second opinion from another OBGYN and she diagnosed the same problem. Within 2 months with another OBGYN I had surgery and my fibroid problems were gone. But for 15 years, he just dismissed my concerns
He was so kind and nice. Always offering his help for having our questions solved. And also so patiente with us during the whole pregnancy. He knew we were not native English speakers and he was always so attentive with us. Thank you SO much for helping us to bring the best gift ever in our life.
I love Dr. Hoffman! He has been my doctor for 10+ year and every time I see him he is kind, attentive, and patient with me. He answers all my questions and I genuinely feel like he cares about his patients. I've referred him to several friends and everybody loves him.
I was here 2 days ago and I came in after enduring 6 years of consistent vulvar pain and have not been able to get any answers and was referred to UTSW. I have seen 4 different gynecologists and each has referred me somewhere else without answers, because they either don't want to bother or don't have the time to care. My pain is real. That is the only thing Dr Hoffman said I appreciated. Other than that, he was extremely brief, did not explain what has been happening to me for 6 years, and felt very dismissive and as he was walking out, it seemed like I had to beg to get him to stay and answer the questions I had. He disregarded anything I had to say and tested me for STDs (which there is no possible way I could have that) and gave me pamphlet for Vulvodynia and the National Vulvodynia Association without explaining a thing about it to me. I get the same feeling of not caring from every Dr because my condition actually takes a Dr listening and they just don't want to take the time to do that. I felt so dismissed, like "here's your pamphlet deal with your pain." I am extremely depressed because no matter how much I try to get help, no one cares. I don't even know exactly what they are treating me for. All I know I was given a pamphlet on a diagnosis the Dr never spoke about.
I'd like to preface my review with the fact that I work in the healthcare industry and have an inside look on the good, bad, and ugly of doctors and practices. Five words I would use to describe Dr. Hoffman are unprofessional, insensitive, gouging, negligent, and dismissive. I have suffered from what I fear to be endometriosis for 15 years and scheduled an appointment with Dr. Hoffman bc I THOUGHT UTSW only employs doctors who exhibit integrity and strive for excellence. Boy was I wrong. My appointment was for an annual gyno exam and I also requested an ultrasound because I was told by another gyno that ultrasound could shed some light on possible endometriosis (pun intended). I brought my mom to my visit bc I was overwhelmed with anxiety over finally facing what my future might hold. I'm in my 30's and can't even remember the last time my mom went to a doctors appointment with me. I say this bc having my mother there as support and to attest to my symptoms should have indicated this is a serious life altering matter. I described my medical history, the debilitating pain and abnormal cycles, past medications and treatments that didn't work, how my symptoms have made me miss work, birthdays, weddings, memories I can't relive. I mentioned my hypoglycemia, PMDD, and other conditions I believed he needed to know to preform thorough analysis. I made it clear that I wanted my hormones tested before any hormone medication was prescribed and that my last annual exam was 11 months prior so I was due for an annual women's exam. While I was waiting, my blood sugar felt low so I ate some fruit snacks, bc I was not told to fast for any blood work. Dr. Hoffman told me he was going to order chlamydia and gonorrhea tests to rule that out, even though I had no presenting symptoms of a STD and I have never had a STD in my life. But I obliged bc I trusted him. He performed the pelvic exam, took the sample, obtained my urine and led me to the lab for blood work. A few days and $390 later, I was appalled at my test results. Negative for Chlamydia and gonorrhea, and NO pap smear or hormone tests! Blood sugar test, high - DUH bc I had just eaten fruit snacks and my hypoglycemia causes my blood sugar to spike after I eat. I did not need to pay for these tests nor did they have anything to do with my chief complaint! When I called to ask about my pap smear results and why my hormones weren't tested, I was told by a nurse that Dr. Hoffman didn't think hormone testing was relevant. Hormones not relevant for analysis of an abnormal menstrual cycle?! The nurse then told me Dr. Hoffman wanted me to come back for an ultrasound and another pelvic exam. I was then told that Dr. Hoffman didn't get a pap smear. I asked, "What was he doing down there?", and the nurse replied "Well are you sure he did a pap smear?", so I countered, "Can someone be unsure of being in stirrups and having a stranger scrape the inside of their vagina?" She said she would call me back and never did, so I called after hours to talk to an on call doctor. This doctor was sympathetic but unfortunately confirmed no pap smear was done and that the sample that was obtained was for the chlamydia and gonorrhea, two unwarranted tests! Why didn't Dr. Hoffman at least get my pap smear while he was down there?! I was obviously uncomfortable and he acknowledged the pain I felt during the pelvic exam was not normal, so why would he ever want me to have to go through that again, especially when I was due for my annual?! Then I remembered, my lab results show that the chlamydia and gonorrhea tests were done via urine sample. I work with doctors and know for a fact that CD tests are done via urinalysis. So WHY was Dr. Hoffman examining my pelvis? After all of the time, energy, anxiety, and money spent on what I thought would be my first step towards changing my life for the better, I'm no closer to a solution and out $390. The only bright side is at least I know that nothing the future holds on my journey for treatment and getting my life back will be worse than my experience with Dr. Hoffman.
