It took a minute to share this, I've been debating. But, I feel that this needs to be shared. I have been taking my kids there for 18 yrs. I never thought this was a great place but it was not a bad place or I just didn't know better. Well, I took my kids to an appointment last week, i wanted to check their vitamin levels. Since I'm debating on having them go back to school with covid. I recently moved to boerne. I know some parents are doing that over here. Just want to know if they are lacking on some vitamins and what we can do for a preventative measure. Well, Dr. Fontenot basically said they is no such thing and basically he hasn't done it in 20 yrs. He basically was talking at my husand I, not really listening and talking over trying to make us seem like we don't know what we are talking about. I also didn't appreciate how my kids were there and mind you he basically didn't acknowledge them or even comment that my son is 18. I feel that a doctor should be more personable. Especially since he took care of my kids since first born. Also, we were going out of our way to keep the doctor cuz we could find another in boerne. He was also mentioning that insurance might not cover, i guess he just assumed we had medicaid, well we don't and we checked before and or insurance does cover. So extremely disappointed with his service. The nurses and the office is ok. I feel people don't make the same mistake I did and find a real family doctor.
Dr. Fontenot has seen both of our daughters since birth and is a wonderful pediatrician. He has been the calm voice of reason that quiets my craziest bouts of mom anxiety. He is thorough and patient; he doesn't rush you or treat you like a number. Highly recommend!
My child's school wanted testing done for ADD she is 10 yrs old. She was diagnosed when we lived in KY at age 4 but this doctor claims that being another doctor tested her they refused to give the proper paperwork needed for the teachers to fill out instead he wants to guess how much milligrams our daughter should take just like she's a test dummy knowing this me causes heart attacks really? Lazy doctor that only wants to get paid for office visits! Too bad I even had to give a 1 star this place deserves no stars.. .
Excellent PCP / Pediatrician. Dr. Fontenot has always been our son’s PCP, and he has been amazing to work with. Our son had a host of complications at birth, and coming out of the NICU was a miracle in itself! Needless to say, we wanted to choose a great pediatrician. As we asked around, Michael Fontenot came highly recommended. He is intelligent, informative, kindhearted, sincere, and allows us space and time to ask any questions we might have. Most of all, it’s very obvious he genuinely cares about our child. To us, that has meant everything—as the prognosis looked grim (from a medical perspective)—and yet, Dr. Fontenot has invested in our son as if he had the same value or chance as any other child. He has gone out of his way several times to check in on us. He has personally answered questions we had, and has been available within minutes of us calling from home. Any time he was tied up, he made sure to direct us to a good place and follow up as soon as he could. My wife and I personally love the fact that he is not an alarmist—although that may not be the style of other parents. We always leave feeling confident in our son’s health, and yet thoroughly taken care of. We have often said to each other after a phone call with him, “Gosh I love Dr. Fontenot!” He is outstanding as a professional, and is becoming a great friend as well.

Dr. Fontenot is great with my kids. He answers every question I have, is patient and understanding of fussy children, squeezes you in for an appointment easily if needed. He remembers all my kids and their quirks when he comes in. He's thorough, but quick, and caring. He's helped with every sniffle, boo boo, checkup, and birth of my children.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
