Douglas Klepper's Online Review Report Card

Dr. Klepper is a Rock star and has been for decades. Thank you for everything you do for our kids and our community.

I only took my 9yo child to Dr Klepper because our regular pediatrician, Dr Couch (wonderful and best) was sick. Whatever you do, do not ask a question of Dr. Klepper. He will not answer the question. Then if you point out that things he claims were discussed were not, do not take your child back to see him. I asked a simple question about the requirements for a tonsillectomy. I got a very flippant response that he had discussed this with me and that's why he asked about apnea and number of infections. First of all, I would not have asked the question had any of the requirements been discussed. Then I took my 9yo in to be reexamined. He treated my 9yo horribly because Dr. Klepper was angry with me for pointing out we did not discuss this. My 9yo left crying, angry, and NEVER wants to see Dr. Klepper again. I have never experienced such poor behavior by a grown, medical professional in my life and I deal with many as part of my career. A pediatrician should never treat a child the way my 9yo was treated. Worst experience ever and I would leave the practice if we didn't love Dr. Couch so much. I know I will not let Dr. Klepper treat any of my children again.

He has a great bedside manor, and he also takes to time to build rapport, and answer all questions. He's a sweetheart, and my tiny humans love him!

Absolutely LOVE Dr. Klepper and his staff. They treat our family like their own. He explains everything in such detail and my kids are always happy to see him.

Dr. Klepper reexamined my 9yo. He came in angry that I had questioned treatment and asked for tonsillectomy requirements which he did not answer until forced to answer while face to face. He took his anger out on my 9yo while reexamining him. My 9yo left crying, angry, and NEVER wants to see Dr. Klepper again. If my simple question had been answered the first time, things would have never escalated. Instead of answering tonsillectomy requirement question, I received a response that he discussed this during the first visit. Well, if it had been discussed, why was I asking the question! Dr. Klepper was not professional and the worst treatment of a child by a pediatrician I have witnessed. I deal with many doctors as part of my career and this was the worst. All that should have happened was an apology that maybe there was a misunderstanding and provided the answer to a simple question.

What a mess. Communication is definitely an issue. My husband took our sick baby in to see Dr Klepper, because Dr Couch's schedule (who is a lovely Dr btw) and ours couldn't align for several days, we resorted to seeing the other Dr, Dr Klepper. Hubby was trying to convince me to switch to Dr Klepper since he seemed more available. At any rate, I called to find out test results. His nurse called me back, "This is Kim..." huh? It took me a minute to realize who she was. She said the results would be in tomorrow and she'd call me then. She seemed annoyed that I was even calling, yet they told hubby they would call in 4 hours. This was 5 hours later and just before they close. I asked her about eye drops since he has yellow and green discharge coming out of his eyes, and she says it's a virus. As I try to understand from her, she gets noticeably annoyed, cuts me off, and says, "I'm transferring you to Dr Klepper" (like I was in trouble with a parent or something). And you know, I'm a reasonable person, but this gentleman was hostile. From the moment we spoke, he was arrogant and dismissive, saying he didn't think the baby had strep (yet two of us just got diagnosed with it), didn't even swab the baby for it, only a virus, and about his eyes, this is verbatim: yellow and green coming out of the eyes mean nothing to me. Um, what?! I knew then and there this was never going to be a Dr we see again. Not only was he NOT listening to anything a concerned mother of a baby was saying, his diagnosis was nowhere near thorough enough, not to mention his superior and haughty tone. His solution was, well bring the baby back tomorrow if you're so concerned. Great. Another co-pay, another time husband and I have to figure out schedules when this should have been done the first time. My Dad was a Dr, and I've worked for dr's my entire career. Not impressed. At all!!! And on an end note, he or Kim (now that I know her name lol) didn't call me back. They passed it back to the other assistant Amy, who is wonderful. I would have loved to tell this to Dr Klepper myself, had he had the decency to call me the next day like he said he would. Children are precious, and it means a lot to have a good provider. I can't even step a foot back there again.

What a nightmare! Communication is definitely an issue. His nurse and he were literally hostile on the phone with a worried mom in tears. Children are precious and deserve way better care. And frankly, so do their mothers.
