I'm 19 and began seeing her when i was 17-18 and have already stopped, even though i was an adult she still consistently chose to speak to my parents over me. Even though she was my psychologist. She seems like she doesn't really know what works best for anything, I tried about 3 ADHD medications in less than two weeks. Also, once you do anything to get on her bad side there is nothing you can do to get off it. She took me off of medication that actually helped me for "Abuse" when she herself had told me they were the wrong pills and that I shouldn't take them, so logically I threw the pills in the trash, and that's what qualified as medication abuse. (legit zero history of medication abuse or anything) My parents literally dug them out of the trashcan to show her, but she didn't want to hear anything. She'll put her opinion before your best interest.
I have been a patient for a couple years now. Dr Nelson is attentive to you're needs and treats you like a friend. I have always felt comfortable telling her anything without any kind of judgment. If there's a recommendation for medication she will ask if you want to try it. I really appreciate that I like to know the symptoms and if it's worth the risk. Her staff is friendly and polite. Definitely would recommend
I have been seeing Dr. Nelson for about a year since she took over for Dr. Arun Patel. Dr. Nelson has been absolutely amazing! She takes time to listen, will address all of my concerns, and she even takes my own suggestions on medication changes into consideration. Her office staff, receptionist Nicole, is always so easy to work with and very accommodating. If you’re needing a new psychiatrist, the wait may be a bit, but she is well worth it! Several of my coworkers are now using her too and we all love her! This says a lot because we’re a bunch of ER nurses who work with a variety of psychiatric patients and psychiatric MD teams on a daily basis. If you’re struggling, it’s time for you to call and schedule an appointment so you can get your mental health under control in a safe and compassionate environment with Dr. Nelson, the same way she helped me! Remember- learning to manage our mental health isn’t easy and takes time. Finding a psychologist to work with, in addition to a psychiatrist, will be a huge help. Dr. Nelson can give recommendations for which psychologist may be a good fit for specific patient issues. Don’t give up if you don’t see results right away. You are worthy of receiving help. It took a few years to find the perfect combination of meds, especially since some take 6-8 weeks to start working, many psychology appointments for CBT, nearly gave up a few times, but I’m finally on the road to healing and can’t wait to see what my future has in store, thanks to Dr. Nelson. Remember- it may be hard to reach out for help, but it’s ONLY hard, NOT impossible. Her office is a judgement free zone. She will be honest with you, state the facts, and educate you regarding treatment options. I guarantee you’ll have a huge sigh of relief and wish you went sooner once you step into Dr. Nelson’s office and realize that she is only there because she truly wants the best for all of her patients. Lubbock is so lucky to have Dr. Nelson in private practice! Docs like her are few and far between these days. -Kelsey K RN
Nicole is extremely disrespectful. They repeatedly told us it would take 5 months for an appointment for an existing patient. Refused to refill medicine for a patient all out of their psych meds. Didn’t answer the phone when we were stuck in traffic. Showed up on time at their old office so we called repeatedly. They answered 10 minutes after the appointment and informed us they had moved and the time had been missed. Then tried to reschedule in 2 months.Actively made mental health worse. This is why people are scared to take care of their mental health.
Very good listener. I felt really comfortable sharing with her about my history and symptoms. She reassured me that how I feel about the medication is priority and that I do have control. I highly recommend her!
First time patient. Felt listened too, and like she wanted to assist in getting me help. Willing to work with my medications I'm on now
She had my prior diagnosis from Dr. Patel. Explained to her what I was currently experiencing and she basically said "well I can put you on _________ medication , but its totally up to you". I thought I had gone to the Dr. for her professional opinion and medical recommendation, but apparently you just get to decide yourself on how to treat. Was very disappointed.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
