I was referred to Dr. Apakama from my orthopedic surgeon. I've searched for 10+ years for a surgeon/Physician that would say yes to doing the surgery for me due to many health issues. When I first met Dr. Apakama he took the time out to get to know ME, as a whole, before even discussing surgery. He didn't sugarcoat the process, he ensured me that we would work TOGETHER to make this happen. That's what we did for the next year, I started working out in the gym, changed my lifestyle, and he coached me at every appointment. Gave me the hope and push I needed each time I didn't feel like I accomplished much that appointment. He was the ONLY person I trusted to do this surgery and I knew without a doubt he would help me survive this!!! He held his end of the bargain, his procedure was meticulous, and he was very thorough. I still have a good while to go before I'm completely healed but I know I have an amazing surgeon by my side that CARES about my well being and loves what he does!! Dr Apakama is the most compassionate caring Dr I have had this long of a relationship with. I first met him when he did my emergency gallbladder surgery 4 years ago. He then did my DS 2 years later and now my umbilical hernia repair. My recoveries have been so easy and I'm convinced it has to do with how he took care of me during the surgeries. He truly takes his time with you and really listens. At my last appt he was really kind to me and considerate of what I was feeling. He talked to me and made me feel so much better. I would recommend him over and over again.
