Dr Greenwell has been a great physician to me and my wife,,,but his staff seems to run the shop, when they can hang up on a patient,,ignore a patient, and get away with it,,,its time to find another Urologist...
My Dad is in surgery this Am at Seton Burnet Hospital. He had prostate cancer about 12 years ago and apparently one of the clips has migrated to his ureter and near his bladder. He is being treated by Dr David Greenwell of Urology Austin. The First thing he said when he came in the room "Who called my office asking about the cyst on his kidney? I don't do laparoscopic". Immediate confusion came over us because when my mom took my dad into the office she was told that he would be going in laparoscopically and if he could not get it he would make an incision. I have worked in the medical field for nearly 20 years and been around a lot of physicians and surgeons of all specialties. I can say with absolute certainty that his guy is by far this biggest jerk I have ever encountered. The Nurse Anesthetist and another nurse said: "well a lot of people confuse the scope with a laparoscopic procedure". My mom was a trauma and ICU nurse for 30+ years so there was no misunderstanding on her part. When we were in pre-op the staff asked if we had questions about the surgery and we asked the nurses how it would be done because the procedure was coded as kidney stones which is incorrect and Dr Greenwell said he would not drain the cyst on his kidney because he does not do laparoscopy. The nurses informed us Dr Greenwell would be using a scope. We said that is not what the Dr conveyed about the procedure during the office visit. We asked for them to go get Dr Greenwell. He came in and we asked him how the procedure was going to be done. He said in the most condescending tone "I'm sorry I don't have too many patients confused about this procedure". He said "I never told you it would be done laparoscopically". There was confusion in pre-op on the possible antibiotic the Dr ordered interfering with my father's current medication. As Dr Greenwell was talking down to us like we are idiots the nurse anesthetist said "hey I didn't start this they did". They put medication in his IV to relax him and as we were discussing the confusion of the procedure as described to us one of the staff said we could just cancel the procedure. It took everything I had not to jump across that bed and get in Dr Greenwell's face for being so rude to my mom in front of my dad. Really the whole experience was a cluster.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
