The Dr. Saved my life in2009 I seen him all this way to 2011 I am moving back to the area and hope to start back seeing him. The waits are long but for the quality crate it's worth the wait
So very grateful for his help. Great doctor!
UPDATED January 2021I STILL LOVE THIS DOCTOR! I have CHF and it's a fight most of the time to stay healthy, but listening to his direction and taking my medicines as prescribed, I have done extremely well. But my body decided my heart needed more fun and I developed Atrial Fibrillation. Dr. Pokala as usual gave me excellent care at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital after my internal defibrillator went off for the first time ever, and then 2nd 3rd and 4th ever all in one evening. The ER collaborated with him and kept me for observation and medication to help me be stabilized for home. Quick as a whistle he had me referred to an excellent Electrocardiologist for an Atrial Ablation. I am all fixed up and back to my normal fight now!THANK YOU DR. P!!Previously :I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Pokala. I have been his patient since September 2016 when I was hospitalized with CHF. He not only correctly diagnosed my condition, but he treated me, supplied me with the most expensive medicine that I could not afford, provided office visits while I waited for disability to kick in, he and his staff helped me find financial assistance for the Zoll Life Vest and medical care and later the surgery and Implanted Cardiac Defibrillator. He is highly intelligent, persistent and dedicated. If my initial exams for issues do not present, he will follow up on tests to assure I am getting the proper treatment. I don't mind waiting when he is not in the office because my doctor is at the hospital taking care of people like me and saving lives. God has given him a gift and he uses it for more hours out of the day than most people would ever dedicate. The staff is always gracious and efficient and any time I've encountered otherwise in any business I do my best to make their day better, encouragement and a laugh go a long way toward a positive experience so I make sure I'm the one that encourages and makes you giggle. :-)
The best as far as I'm concerned, he has saved my husband life and has helped him anyway possible. The wait is long in his office but that's usually cause he is across the street savings lives like my husband so we don't mind the wait.
My Dad had an appointment at 8:45 am. And we left the office at 1:05pm. We had little communications with the staff to what was taking too long. I finally left the room and talk to the nurse and inquired about the long wait. She informed me that Dr. Pokola had an emergency and had to go to the hospital but will be back shortly. I strongly believe the staff needs to have better communication with patient. Its ridiculous that anybody has to wait in a room for 4 hrs to see a Doctor. 2 star because they offer juice and peanut butter crackers while we wait. But this was not offer until I inquired about the wait. From reading other comments this is a common thing, I believe that nobody should wait this long to see the Doctor.
Dr. Pokala has saved many lives including mine. During my first visit to his office I found a packed waiting room. An obvious new patient made a complaint about having to wait in the waiting room so long because the Dr. had to keep running next door to the hospital. Amazingly she was hushed quickly by a room full of patients. They proclaimed,”We don’t complain because most of us at one time were the one next door he was saving,” Dr. Pokala is dedicated to his calling. He is seen all hours of day and night at the hospital fulfilling his duties, plus all day at his office seeing patients. The proof of this man’s dedication demonstrates every reason to give him the best rating.
Worth the wait in the office. If I am waiting he is out saving a life just like he did mine. I am surprised anybody would complain about a doctors office with sick people in it especially when its where you can get the best care. I havent had a problem with my medicines and pharmacies other than normal. My previous provider asked me every time I went in which pharmacy I wanted and I told them clearly yet called every walmart around to find it. Never had that with Dr. Pokala.
Intelligent and amazing. Theres a wait at the office, sometimes a long one but he isnt out for punch or playing golf he is saving a life. If you cant wait for the best cardiologist go back to fast food and fast doctors. He saved my life when I had no insurance, helped me get financial assistance and assured me that if I needed their services to just come on in or go to the ER. When I didnt qualify for insurance they still were there and finally after two years I have insurance and he is also my Primary Physician. I am blessed to have Dr Pokala taking care of my heart and health needs.
This guy is dangerous. Mis-diagnosed my pneumonia, finally called me Friday afternoon and told me to go to the ER. Staff is snippy and rude, office waits are 2-3 hours. Waiting rooms are packed with very sick people, sneezing and coughing on each other with little ventilation. Appointment times mean nothing. He neglects to chart things talked about, and staff doesn't care. Lies about making phone call to patients. Lies about other issues.
Very, very poor care. Office staff is snippy. Doctor promises referrals, doesn't put them on the chart, nothing happens. Drugs are called in to the wrong pharmacy. Office visits pretty much take all day -- be prepared for multiple waiting rooms with VERY sick patients, sniffling and coughing. Sends you to places for labs that don't take your coverage, and they KNOW it. Claim they called you and they didn't. I think they're trying to serve way too many people with not nearly enough staff.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
