I just left this office and I am LIVID. I was referred by Dr Bjorn for some new and sudden onset of peripheral neuropathy. I have toxicity of b6. It took months to get in and when I made the appt I assumed I’d see a technician but was pleasantly surprised when they said the actual dr does the EMG. That’s all they told me. I drove in from lake Texoma to be at this appointment and arrived 20 mins before it was schedule, assuming there’d be paperwork to fill out.. Upon arrival I was told the dr will not allow me to be seen bc I was to be there 30 mins early. I said no one told me that and why does paperwork need 30 minutes? She said bc there’s a pre visit with an MA (no idea what that even is) and it was NOT mentioned. I am never late ever anywhere and I’ve waited months to see this dr to find out why I have these symptoms. They just said sorry the dr won’t see you. As I left I notice his door says pain management and addiction treatment. That explains their attitude I guess but I don’t take pain pills and don’t need management, just a dx.

Condescending. Patronizing. Makes an elderly lady in debilitating pain, who has tried everything, feel like a criminal for asking for pain meds. I could go on but I'll leave it be at just this.

If your goal, when suffering severe, debilitating pain (severe Rheumatoid Arthritis, joints so swollen they're almost useless), is to find a condescending doctor who makes an elderly lady feel like a criminal, every visit for asking for pain meds so she can at least be a shadow of her former self, Benavides is your doctor.

If you're an elderly lady suffering from the debilitating pain of severe rheumatoid arthritis and your goal is to be made to feel like a criminal by a patronizing condescending doctor for asking for pain meds so you can at least be a shadow of your former self , Benavides is your guy!

Loved Dr. Var gas when he worked for Paragon. Did not care for this doctors condosending almost rude behavior. I'm 62 and have never encountered this from any doctor.to this degree. The office will not give me my records, MRI results so I basically have seen no doctor the last year, but found a good family doctor who is great. I hope your encounter with him are much better than mine. He does have a good knowledge of the body. I do not believe he is listened to do steroid shots and that is all I wanted to continue after Dr Vargas left.

I had seen Dr. John Benavides a few times over the years at less than once a year and he told me that I did not take enough hydrocodone medication for him to see me again. When I went for my records I was asked why I was leaving by his receptionist and I said he was condescending and hateful towards me and she said I could not talk badly of him and to leave the building. This doctor was assigned to me w/o my permission after seeing another doctor at Paragon Pain Managment for years. He refused a nerve conductivity test referral from my rheumatologist saying I could not tolerate it. It was like no other conductivity test I have ever had and I have had many in that it was extremely painful. I believe my HIV status was part of the reason but can not say for sure it is the reason. He may be excellent for you though, but my experience was not good with him and I shall not return for my records.

I have never had a Doctor treat me with such rude behavior in all my 69 years. Would not listen to me. Acted angry. Gave me the same speal about starting some medication in two visits but never called the prescription in after the first visit. Told me when i decided i needed a steroid shot to just call and schedule an appointment other wise we were done. I will die in pain before ever setting foot in the facility again.

I have never been talked to or treated the way he did with me. He wanted to take me off of everything and only gave me 2 weeks of Hydrocodone. I have been on all these drugs for 10 years now and that was very harsh treatment for a 77-year-old woman.

I was A patient of Dr. Benavides for I believe seven years. And he is a fantastic Dr who actually listens to you about what's going on with your body. Not one of the Dr's that tell you what's going on with you. He can laugh with his patients or he can be strict whichever one is necessary with each patient. The ONLY bad thing I have to say is.. That he discharged a bunch of patients do to a treatment method. So he no longer is my Dr. My plan was to stay with him as long as I need PM.
