Never had an issue with this office until this week. I see Dr J and I absolutely love her kind soul. She is one of the best! Since I was last seen in March, I called the office on Monday to schedule my 3rd steroid injection. The receptionist answers the phone and places me on hold right away. I was on hold for 15min before calling back. Next call went straight to voicemail. The 3rd time I tried calling the Friendswood location and the same lady answered the phone. I asked her why she kept placing me on hold and why was it so difficult to setup an appt. A few mos ago, I could schedule right away. She could not answer my question, and just said the phones were constantly ringing. I made the receptionist aware that she had placed me on hold one to many times and she just kept apologizing. She said she needed to place me on hold again so she could contact the Drs asst. So here I am again on my lunch break waiting another 15min. She never comes back on the phone. Called the office again and told her I was extremely upset and I wanted to speak to an office manager. That never happened! She told me that she was waiting on a response from the asst. I explained to her that she could have came back on the phone to tell me that, so I could let her know to just call me once the appt was set and leave a message in my cell. I have been waiting for someone to call back since Monday for an appt. It is now Thursday. If I have to constantly deal with this lady, i won’t beable to continue coming here. It’s a shame because I love Dr J! Hire someone with better communication skills and prompt call backs. The current receptionist is a joke!!
I see Dr. J. I absolutely adore her, and I wish there were more doctors like her. She has a great bedside manner. She actually takes the time to listen. You can tell she truly cares and loves what she does. I was in so much pain before coming here. What she has done for me has been life changing.
Very kind, great bedside manner.
Found this doctor to help manage the pain in my back. I agreed to have an outpatient procedure done to alleviate the pain. I was assured the procedure would work for at least 6 months. It did not. After getting the procedure done, I returned for a follow up. During the follow up, I questioned why the procedure did not work. The look of shock could be seen in the doctor's face. She then proceeded to tell me that she never told me it would be a 100% guarantee. This was not told to me at first, as I tried explaining to her. After going back and forth on what was said and what was not said, the only option I was given was to return in a few weeks to see if the medicine started working again. The staff is great. When I initially started going to this office, I would have consultations with Dr. Patel. After awhile, I was no being seen by her and was seen by another doctor.
My experience started off normal in July 2020. The only exception was how quickly I was scheduled to get an injection. I have multiple disk injuries and needed to manage the pain in order to make it through physical therapy. I was at a 9 on the 1-10 pain scale. I was seeing Dr Simpson not Dr Patel. The doctor immediately changed a pain medicine that I had been on for years for my arthritis and that was the first time I went through withdrawals. Then I was told I could not get any pain relief until, my drug test came back. This is an office policy. It is not regulation or law. I suffered for two weeks after getting 2 injections that did not work. When I requested some pain medicine for the interim I was told no. I informed her that If the pain got any worse I would have to go to the E.R. and she said I hope not but do what you have to do. E.R., doctors don't like pain patients coming in for meds and pain doctors don't like their patients going to the E.R. for meds. I was left hanging with virtually no recourse. Eventually the drug test came back and showed that indeed I was not a criminal or junkie. To shorten the story I went through withdrawals 3 times since July because she changed my meds to something the insurance wouldn't cover, then back, then to something that required a prior authorization and she never sent the insurance a prior authorization even when my insurance called to do it over the phone. Her staff told my insurance they would get to it while they could have done it with her over the phone. This is 9 days after my appointment and 4 days after I ran out of my meds. I had been calling my insurance and then her office for the 4 days straight. I called on my way home that evening and left her a voicemail expressing my frustration over the fact that I was stuck again without meds. That was October 9 2020 and Today is October 17 2020. I still haven't heard back from them. I had to cancel my next appointment and find another way. I would recommend avoiding this practice unless you just want an injection. They will give you an injection at the drop of a hat, but will not manage pain appropriately. Remember though injections are very hit or miss. They do not always work and that's got nothing to do with the doctor.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
