I saw Dr. Blumenthal for disc replacement in my neck...He answered all of my questions....he was amazing! As was his assistants....surgery was preformed at the surgical center on site. To say it was amazing would be an understatement!!!! The best hospital ever!! They took such good care of me!! Dr. Blumenthal came to check on me...answered all my questions, the assistant came by and checked on me, as did the anesthesiologist and PT! I ordered my meals....and they were delicious!! The nurses had the best attitudes, were kind, caring and really cared about my pain, my healing. My PT has been just as amazing as the rest of the Texas Back Institute. I would never go anywhere else for spinal issues!

He badly botched my disc replacement. He is not a good doctor.

If I could leave a negative review I would. My daughter has degenerative disc disease and has had prior back surgery to have two bulging discs repaired. After moving down to Dallas she started experiencing pain and Blumenthal was recommended to us. His front office staff and assistant were great to work with and after meeting with them, getting x-rays and MRI done we met Blumenthal for our consultation on treatment options. After moving down to Dallas she started experiencing pain and Blumenthal was recommended to us. His front office staff and assistant were great to work with and after meeting with them, getting x-rays and MRI done we met Blumenthal for our consultation on treatment options. He seemed annoyed from the minute he walked in. Without referencing any of her images or exam data he declared "everything is normal" and that if my daughter was his child he would tell her just to toughen up. Basically within the first 5 minutes he had my daughter in tears. He then got up to leave but of course we tried to ask follow on questions to understand what was happening. This only annoyed him further and he quickly ended the conversation and walked out. Two weeks later we got a second opinion and using the same image data our new doctor, Dr. Hotchkiss, identified two very clear bulging discs. This misdiagnosis could have led to further injury or complications had we not sought out a second opinion. Blumenthal may be just fine as a surgeon but I will not call him a doctor as he does not have the required care and compassion you would expect from a true professional. We have filed a complaint with the Texas Medical Review Board and it may be worth a look there to see if he has other complaints prior to working with him. I wish we would have.

Scott Blumenthal is the best. My surgery was between the 5 & 6 cervical discs. I have no pain now. Absolutely wonderful. I went to Scott in 11/2018, in the hospital for a day, and 2 weeks of wearing a soft neck brace to remind me not to move my neck. The surgery was fantastic for me, and I would recommend Scott Blumenthal to anyone who has this shoulder pain to get relief.
While I believe Dr. Blumenthal may be a brilliantly educated Physican, his clinic bedside manors are lacking. I flew in from Los Angeles only to spend 5 min with Dr. Blumenthal in clinic, he doesn't really want to answer questions. You're better off seeking care elsewhere.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
