Umar Burney's Online Review Report Card

I had surgery 8 years on my left shoulder with one torn muscle and an incision was made but with a different doctor. I had to have surgery on my right shoulder this time. I had 2 torn muscles and a bone spur. I decided to go with Dr. Burney as he does his shoulder surgeries via arthroscopic. I was very pleased with my surgery and less pain than my other shoulder. I highly recommended Dr. Burney and would give more than 5 stars if it was possible.

Dr Burney is very nice but I think they overbook too often at the office. Every time I've been to an appointment at his office I have had to wait as much as an hour later than my appointment to be seen. Today they called and said they needed to re-book me because Dr Burney now has a surgery to do Thursday. I specifically said I could come today if it wasn't going to run over like it has all the other times. I was told he didn't have much going on this morning and I could come at 11:30. I got there at 11:15 and didn't get called back until 12:20. It also doesn't give me alot of confidence when I've been to the office and talked about why I'm there including the issues I've been having and when I go for my MRI results I'm asked "so what issues have you been having?" It just tells me that I'm not remembered and no one has taken time to review my chart before seeing me. Just doesn't give me a lot of confidence.

Dr Burney has come highly recommended. But it is slow going I have been in terrible pain for weeks. I was able to get in with his assistant quickly, but I have been waiting 1 1/2 weeks for him to send MRI request to the facility. Still waiting and have placed a second call with no response.

Dr Burney did my first knee replacement in March 2022,was my first surgery ever in my life at 64 yrs old he told me it will be ok and your going to do great and even tho the first 3 weeks is painful with rehab I was ok. Then 6 months later I had my second knee replacement. It went smother than my first recovery I guess bc I knew what to expect that time around. Now it's time for rotator cuff surgery and he will do that also!! I wouldn't trust NO OTHER surgeon to touch me. His bedside manner is the best I've ever had with any Drs in my life.HE CARES and is joyous to talk to I highly recommend Dr Burney with your knees hips and shoulders. He doesn't do feet or hands or wrists just FYI. That's Dr Patels area. In same office.

Cant get anyone to answer the phone. Have been trying for two weeks

My husband stilll cannpt bend over! Do not use Dr. Burney if you have heart disease! His lack of cardio vascular knowledge and not aligning with my husband's cardiologist, caused my husband to suffer a stroke after surgery. I allerted my clients of this disasterous result and major setback.

I have been a patient for several years now. His staff are professional and helpful. His approach to patient care is excellent. I always understand what is needed and that I was heard. I highly recommend him.

I had a hand surgery by Dr Burney. It was so smooth and great service by his team.

If Burney, or anyone is doing your knee surgery, please ask how they will prevent a Valgus Deformity. See the Internet report after my comments. Burney did a knee replacement for me Sept. 2019. I went through TWO rounds of PT with his Therapists. I continued to work PT at home, but still had pain and my foot turned way out. I asked about this at least 3 other visits. Burney only remarked that the prothesis is in tact and looked fine. My knee still hurts, and my ankle is affected now! I also saw 2 other Orthopedic Surgeons in Dallas. They only looked at the exray of the prothesis and said it looked good! They too didn’t touch the fact that my foot and lower leg were turned out (valgus) . This year I i’m Going through PT again! The Therapist measured my Knee to be OFF THE NEUTRAL LINE BY 22 DEGREES!! Read the Article, I have a Valgus Deformity (slant off neutral) way over the “Gold Standard.” Now i’m Into 2022, still asking for answers, and I got them! I saw a very reputable Knee Specialist. He took an X-ray of my knee and below the knee. He noted that the Valgus was off. I am going to a new PT who measured my Valgus at 22 degrees!! I’m trying my best to do PT and improve, without another surgery! Read the article! Ask your Surgeon about the Valgus!!!! *********************** The radiological definition of “normally” aligned TKA knees is debated (Abdel et al. 2014, Gromov et al. 2014), but most papers on implant survival and radiological alignment have used some deviation from the mechanical or anatomical coronal axis for definement of malalignment. Several studies have used a deviation of 3° from a neutral alignment as a threshold for what is acceptable for good long-term results (Jeffery et al. 1991, Ritter et al. 1994 and 2011, Berend et al. 2004). Such a 3° threshold has also been chosen in numerous other studies investigating results after TKA (Choong et al. 2009, Longstaff et al. 2009, Parratte et al. 2010, Huang et al. 2012), and an alignment within 3° of the mechanical axis has been considered to be the gold standard (Lombardi et al. 2011). Based on this, we decided to use a deviation from the neutral mechanical axis of 3° as the threshold between normally aligned and malaligned TKA knees. We found that one third of the patients had a mechanical axis that deviated from 3° to 11° from the neutral mechanical axis, with 20% of the femoral components and 16% of the tibial components being outliers (> 3° varus or valgus).
