Richard Shea Md's Online Review Report Card

Dr. Shea was the worst physician I’ve met with. He would not let me finish telling him about my chief complaint and other necessary context before interrupting me. He refused to test me for hormonal problems because I’m “too young.” He then recommended taking antidepressants which was in no way an attempt to solve the true problem. Part of the reason I am going to become a physician is so I can treat patients with respect and care, which is not how I felt as his patient. I would not recommend visiting him.

If I were ever to become pregnant again I would definitely have Dr. Shea again. He was receptive to my wishes on having a VBAC. He didn't sugar coat anything about the risks which I appreciated. He knew that 100% my wish was to have a VBAC and that's exactly what I got! He tried to do whatever he was capable of doing to avoid me getting another C-section. I will say one thing I did not like is that he would cut me off sometimes when I would talk. He does have a bit of an attitude like "I'm the doctor and I know more than you." But I believe it's just because he has been doing this for a long time so he really does know what he's talking about.

Richard Shea checked on me after I delivered twins- I am SO thankful he was not my primary OB. I was suicidal and HAD A PLAN and told him this. He told me to “stop being dramatic.” He told me to “think happy thoughts.” He ordered the nurse to give me narcotics and mark in my chart that I was in pain and IGNORED my protest when I said I was NOT in pain, and refused to listen to me any more. He simply told her to give me narcotics to “make her go to sleep.” He is a danger to his patients and the Texas medical board did nothing. He should not only lose his license but be prosecuted for falsifying medical records.

Great dentists and staff! Dr Shea took tremendous amount of time to help me with tmj and some dental issues. Highly recommend!

This doctor was very rude, unapologetic, very unprofessional.

I liked how he was quick and to the point, he is a very knowledgeable doctor. If you're looking for someone to hold your hand, baby you, and give you a should to cry on..Look elsewhere. But if you want to feel like you are safe and in good hands and you aren't too needy, then he is fantastic!

I came to see Dr Shea today for a women's wellness exam. I WILL NOT BE RETURNING! This man is the worst doctor I have ever been to, hands down. He is cold, crass, and has terrible bedside manner. When I was voicing my concerns about possible endometriosis and having fibroids tumors (again) he kept pointing out the fact that I was overweight. When I asked about having my tubes tied so that I did not have to use birth control, as it interferes with my depression and anxiety medication, he suggested my husband have a vasectomy. He made me feel like an object laying on that table. I almost felt violated when he was examining me because there was no warning before he used the instruments "down there" and the exam was so quick and cold, I was quite frankly shocked when it was over. I found out after my appointment that I am apparently not the only patient that he left a bad impression on. I do not know how this man is still working in obstetrics, after all of the bad reviews I have read.

Ugh.. don’t know where to start, I went in to his office for pelvic pain he walked in talking so fast telling me he might have to Take off and leave soon due to a delivery, asked me what I was feeling as I started to describe the symptoms he seemed to be rushed and cut me off and checked my abdomen real quick said he didn’t notice any masses or hernias. but he did order me ultrasound so. At least I’ll be at ease once I get the results . I paid $40 for a 5 min visit, I took longer to get undressed then the time I spent talking with the doctor. Waiting on ultrasound results hopefully I can get my mind at ease then for sure since doctor didn’t do his job! To worried about the delivery he had to attend, Didn’t even bother to listen, made me drive 1 hour 30 mins for 5 min visit 🤦🏻‍♀️

Dr. Shea was horrible! I was supposed to go to the Georgetown location but they couldn’t fit me in so they had me see Dr. Shea as the intial visit. He was rude, never introduced himself and I told him at least 9 times this wasn’t my first pregnancy. I’m a type 1 diabetic and he also couldn’t remember that and kept thinking I was type 2 which is a very different disease. The worst part of all was that he referred to my vagina as a “vag”. Overall it was such a weird and awful experience. I would never recommend him to anyone and am shocked he has patients.
