List of Darren J Bell's Reviews
Dr Darren Bell is very professional and attentive. His diagnosis and guidance has literally saved my eyesight which has been compromised by Diabetes. I highly recommend Dr Bell for your diabetic eye care.
Repaired macular hole. Results great and procedure as comfortable as could be expected. Very satisfied.
I have had my retinas in both eyes tear away from the wall of my eyeball in two separate incidence. He was able to save my vision both times with a laser in his office. The Doctor has great skill and is very good at explaining things in concise terms. Follow-ups have been very thorough he listens patiently to my questions and I never feel rushed. I highly recommend Dr. Bell to anyone, especially if you have eye damage related to diabetes.
My wife and I both saw Dr Bell for our latest eye exam. His exam was very thorough and he explained what he was seeing with my eyes very clearly in words I could understand. We will definitely be back next year!
As senior partner of his group, Dr. Bell was consulted and OK'd a routine lens replacement surgery on my husband even though he was taking a blood thinner at the time. I spent 8 hours waiting on a 30-minute outpatient procedure which destroyed the patient's right (dominant eye and left him in excruciating pain which lasted for well over a month. Dr Bell actually questioned the duration of the pain, and he commented that we lucky to have 2 eyes because that meant he still had one functioning. (Can one eye with a corrected score of 20/700 on the eye chart be considered functional?) My husband's right eye is now shrunken, half-closed, no pupil, all gray--very creepy. Needless to say, the man has a lot of trouble navigating with one eye that was poor to start with. We don't feel "lucky".
As a senior partner, Dr. Bell was consulted before the cataract surgeon operated to replace an artificial lens in my husband’s eye. The patient was on blood thinners, he and I were unfamiliar with the protocols, and Dr. Bell gave the okay. A routine 20-30 minute procedure ultimately took about 8 hours, and left my husband in extreme, unrelenting pain. Also BLIND IN HIS RIGHT EYE. The cataract surgeon felt bad about it; Dr. Bell was flippant: he pointed out that it’s lucky we have 2 eyes because that meant the patient still had one. The doctor also became impatient when my husband was still suffering debilitating pain after weeks of opioids and lots and lots of eye drops. Dr. Bell even questioned whether the pain was real. The damaged eye is shrunken, half-closed, all gray, no pupil—pretty creepy. Power tools, ladders, walking in the city or over uneven ground, driving—he’s had to relearn it or quit doing it. Please. Avoid Dr. Bell & Medical Center Ophthalmology Associates.
We traveled 182 miles to see Dr Bell and it was totally worth it. The exam was very thorough and the staff professional and compassionate. Dr Bell used many good analogies when he explained some of the factors that have to work together to result in good vision. I have very much respect for a doctor who does not take advantage of a desperate patient by performing a surgery that may improve only one of those factors, but not necessarily improve the vision of a 91 year old. The decision was ultimately ours to make and we decided not to have surgery at this point. But if we ever change our minds, we would definitely trust Dr Bell to do it.
I have suffered from a rare eye disease for over 40 years and recently was diagnosed with MD and cataracts as well. I saw Dr. Bell here and he was fabulous! Excellent care, professional, patient, took the time to explain and listen to my concerns and questions. I have been under some of the best in the business around the country over 40 years and have no hesitation in recommending Dr. Bell as one of the best I have had the pleasure of calling Dr. The office and other staff were very friendly, helpful and professional and my overall experience was as high as it gets.
Everything! Dr. Bell, it is a given his patients are very important.Wonderful Staff kind and helpful I would recom
Dr. Bell was the amazing M.D who saved our daughters eye and eyesight when she had a FREAK accident with a steak knife... It's been 7 years since her surgery and she has regained about 65-70% of her vision back thanks to his hard work and dedication. He helped us during Post-Op care for and save her eye and now helps her to maintain vision. Thank You & God Bless you Dr. Bell - You are truly amazing!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
