Great physician CANT wait for my surgery
Dr. Garces has a wonderful bedside manner, she makes you feel comfortable and to top it off she’s bilingual!
My wife was involved in a near fatal accident and Dr. Garces was her Neurosurgeon. I was very upset when I arrived at the emergency room but Dr. Garces calmed me and explained everything in detail that was going on from her end and what the trauma had found. She advised me to go home to pack a bag because my wife was going to be in the hospital for at least 10 days to 2 weeks. When I returned late that evening Dr. Garces came to my wifes room and explained again in detail what the second round of tests showed. Dr. Garces took exceptional care of my wife and performed a neck surgery later on now and is now doing well because of her care
I want to thank Dr. Juanita Garces for treating me. Dr. Garces took her time and reviewed all image studies with me and my family. I had a Chiari Decompression procedure done and I was suffering with ALL the symptoms that come with Chiari Malformation. I had DOUBLE VISION, HAND SPASMS, ARMS TINGLING, STABBING NECK PAIN THAT WOULD RADIATE TO MY ARM, BALANCE , TRACKING MOVING OBJECTS , VOCAL CORD PARALYSIS…. And many others. I WAS really on my lowest in life. I am now exactly 27 days post operation and many of my symptoms are GONE! I’m HERE because of her! Thank your! Dr. Juanita Garces
I highly recommend Dr. Juanita Garces!! She is new to the area but comes with an extensive medical background and experience. Dr. Garces has excellent bedside manners and cares for her patients. Dr. Garces took her time reviewing all radiology images with my sister and answered all her questions thoroughly. Mid June Dr. Garces diagnosed my sister with a chiari malformation and an extensive syrinx through most of her spine. My sister presented with a vocal paralysis, neck pain, claw hand deformity to both hands, right sided weakness, shocking like pain with coughing/sneezing , numbness to both arms, right earlobe numbness, double vision, and pain to scalp while brushing hair. Dr. Garces performed a chiari decompression surgery and by her 2 week post op follow up appointment most of her symptoms resolved!! Dr. Garces kept us informed after my sister was out of surgery and also spoke with us in person how surgery went and her recovery process. The nurses were very impressed with her bedside manners and how prompt she responded to on-call messages even in the early morning hours! I definitely give Dr. Garces a 5 star rating!! We have only good things to stay about her and her staff! We absolutely love her....
Dr. Garces is a talented surgeon who takes the time to listen to your concerns.
Dr. Garces is an excellent surgeon! She treated my husband for a spine fracture and was very thorough in her explanation of everything she recommended and why. She was the only spine surgeon on our area with extra training in complex spine problems which is why we went to her for a second opinion anyway. Was so sad to see her leave our area, but if my husband or I ever have any back problems in the future we will be booking a flight to Texas.
After sitting in the office close by the check in desk a patient came in was told: "Dr. Garces is a trauma surgeon and she's over at the hospital." The lady replied: "I just drove 3 hours to be here from down in Kentucky. Why didn't someone call me since you knew this early this morning? Even if I had already driven for an hour, I could have at least turned back if you would have just called." Receptionist offered her apologies and told her she may take a seat or drive back the 3 hours. The patient left. The next person was a middle age male. He was in obvious pain and bent over. HE had the same question: "WHY didn't you guys call or text me?" Well now it's my turn. Another staff member had taken my license and insurance card. I ask if I could have it right back. I was getting anxious watching her wipe her nose on the back of her hand or side of her finger. She told me to take a seat "it would be a minute". After hearing the lack of concern with patients who had walked in after me, I ask if they still had any clue when the doctor would be in? They replied that they did not know when she'd be back. I opted to leave so I asked "miss snotty nose-staff member" with no tissue to please just lay my license and med card down. I proceeded to spray them with alcohol spray as I explained: "I, unlike the Kentucky lady who had driven 3 hours, live pretty close. I am 2 weeks post op of complete hip replacement surgery and am unable to sit here all day with staff having NO idea if or when she would return. I was already in pain and in was going on hour 2 of sitting there. I told her they should all, especially the doctor #DrGarcisWV have more consideration and common courtesy for their fellow man. I ask for all my paper work back. The staff member who was in bad need of a tissue and gloves, offered to "shred it for me" but I refused, took my papers and left. As a retired speaker on business and corporate etiquette in the work place and have appeared on national t.v. shows (one which was aired in 19 other countries), I was appalled at the treatment of these suffering patients. If I had NO expertise in my chosen career, what happened to the "Golden Rule" our parents taught us? Are these doctor's so arrogant and "drunk on their own excellence" that common courtesies do not apply to them? I would drive 3-4 hours to a sisterly cities facility with better training, & more compassion before being treated with such disrespect. St. Mary's needs to consider regular drug testing, see what grade's the "Wanna-be-doctors" made on college transcripts when it came to their "Time Priority management and business/patient etiquette. If one has time to kill, & on social media all day anyway, AND not in much pain?..one may not mind this treatment at all. The chairs aren't all that uncomfortable unless you are in pain or recent post surgery. Just don't forget your charger, you will need it.
Dr. Garces is the best and she has a wonderful bedside manner. She has performed 5 surgeries on my husband. We were heart broken when she moved to Texas.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
